Barker only lost 2 regular season games in four years. Both in 93 along with the tie to Tenn. Only two SEC losses in the regular season also. 44-4-1 as a starter overall!
Barker was 35-2-1 as a starter. Started the last 4 games of 1991 (4-0), all 13 of 1992 (13-0), 8 games in 1993 (6-1-1) and all 13 of 1994 (12-1). Tied Tennessee and lost to Auburn in 1993 and then lost to Florida in 1994.
@@Rhinosaurus1000Well said. He was exactly who Alabama needed as QB at that time. He may not have had the stats but he was an excellent leader and fierce competitor.
You're right that's very impressive. He did lose in 94 to Miss St but he didn't start that game so it's not on him. It's crazy that with all that winning, the only real accomplishment to speak of is 1 SEC title.
@@Nate-im3sgAll because he couldn’t beat Spurrier and the Gators. He went 0-4. I believe Spurrier once said “You can’t spell Citrus without UT.” As you know that’s where championship runner up or second best conference record went. 🤷🏽♂️

This ended up being the only non-Florida SEC game Peyton Manning lost at Tennessee

Jay Barkers loss to LSU the previous year. Was his only none Florida SEC loss in 4 years also! Scratch that. He lost to Auburn too.
@@jillconner5062 Barker did not start the LSU game in 1993. He was injured.
@@tmarsh0307 the 93 auburn game was the only one then.
