Living in the future.... hahaha, nope. Those kiosk/terminals are excellent, but I've used them in other counries for years. My three trips to Japan in the last five years have all averaged one hour plus to get through passport control. Typically because there's fifteen booths but only five operating. Strange considering the airports know exactly how many passagers are coming and when.
We just arrived at Haneda International airport today (28 Feb 2024) and we still had to do it the old fashioned way by queuing to get to the immigration counter. The officer scanned our QR Code or took the written embarkation form. Every individual has their own QR Code even if are registered under one family. Then photo & finger prints taken.. The only difference was at the next step. the Customs clearance where we had to register the QR code again at a machine whilst waiting for our luggage. Then we proceeded to the Electronic Clearance gate.
I couldn't get Japan Web to accept my passport . It keep tell me it wasn't bright enough so I gave up and just filled out the cards On my last attempt if there was any more light I'd need to be standing on the sun. That said did use the new passport and picture stations and they were faster, before we got to the human who reviewed forms. So I'd say there was a little bit of time saved. Totosu Senkyaku Banrai and Samurai Lord Experience are definitely experiences I'd consider doing.
Thanks Nathan for the Tokyo Sakura blossom opening update. Great to know it's been brought forward 3 days to March 20th 👏 (heard it here first 🥇), putting my next upcoming Tokyo visit 13-22 on-track for Hanami viewing 🌸 Hopefully the warmer weather will see the Sakura opening be brought forward even further 👌. Japan is the playground of the World 🌎🚀
I'm guessing it will prob come forward even more! But take care.. these forecasts are still premature and the important dates are the "best viewing" dates. Usually the date of sakura is the skaura opening
Yes full bloom is to aim for, but early bloom is certainly better than no bloom at all 🙂. In fact on our 2016 Tokyo visit we were there for the full Sakura bloom into Hanafubuki (falling petals) which I think is probably the best of part the period with flowers on the trees and petals raining in the air 🤗🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
These vids helped me so much in my 2023 trip. Unfortunately I can’t go back in 2024 but I’m thinking about going back in the fall of 2025. Still love watching this videos to give me off the beat and path destination ideas and news updates
www! ... it is still so silly ! (^_^) ... why do you have hinomaru flag ?! ... anyway, in 2024, Suntory Museum of Art in Tokyo is finally reopened ! ... (people dressing like bushi seem so silly to me!)
Digital Nomad Visa is an amazing development! This is going to be huge I suspect, especially for Tech people looking to work in Japan, coming over on a Nomad visa and looking for work.
it might be possible if you have a Japanese passport and maybe if you are from the military.. normal tourists and others entering need all of these things taken like you say :) @@edg4055
how well do these Haneda scanners do with up to date photo and passport picture?? i appearance has changed alot since my last passport pic...there are still some signs of common but its really night and day difference...mid april Narita, early may Narita but late april Haneda.
Regarding Mt. Fuji, do you know if it will still be allowed to climb the mountain in one day? I mean for example starting early in the morning and being back down by the afternoon. I don't want to stay overnight in a mountain hut unless it's absolutely necessary. Thanks in advance, keep up the good videos
I can only answer from the info provided about the new fees and restrictions. My guess is that Yes You would be able to.. the question is how would you return if the gates close?
@NinjaMonkeyguy good question. But if the gates close at 4pm and I can get back by that time it shouldn't be a problem. It will probably be pretty exhausting but I might just try it.
@@NinjaMonkeyguy Proving past time in Japan seems to be part of the process (or that jcould just be for Student Visas) and they don't give the stamp without you asking for it so we had to provide flight logs to show time in country.
Japan has no standard immigration policy. All “immigrants” are Ad Hoc. Japan also has no plan to expand immigration regardless of the population decline.
The entry machine looks nice. What else will come? It will give you a Suica card and spit out your SIM card you ordered in advance. 😂
haha that would be nice huh!
In Korea you can preorder a SIM card and the card where you pop out the SIM card can be used as a transport card.
Rather get old school stamp with human contact then dystopian camera check.... 😢
You still get a camera check anyway when you enter Japan!

US customers get no roaming charges if they use Google Fi service. If you live in the US, I highly recommend it.

1:16 I've used those when arriving in London and it was soooooo easy and fast. Hope it becomes the norm everywhere.
We also have it in Canada, it really is a breeze

Your really on-top of things Ninja 🐒 there's a few things here for me
Haha, I try to stay on top of things like a ninja!
Going to Japan in late May. I wonder if there will be any more changes… thanks for the updates
There will certainly be new things :) always are!
Great. I go every 3 months and get tired of the hoops. 🎉
Fantastic
nathan i entered tokyo on 26/1/2024 i saw the machines they have lots
Were they usable?
That’s what they do in Singapore airport already 💋
In Japan there is already a version but it still requires more hoops
Japan is great , cant with to get there soon
I really love your channel, thank you for your videos, please keep it up!!
Thanks for the positive feedback
I love your updates! Very timely and accurate as well. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
6 trips to Japan since 2001 . Never had photo taken or fingerprinted , who was this happening to?
If you don’t have a japanese passport this is IMPOSSIBLE. (Maybe if you are military you don’t have to but not sure)

The entry machines are pretty cool. LAX, in the U.S., had something almost exactly like this from at least 10yrs ago.

Mt Fuji overnight tour company recommendations?

best to book EARLY!
Does it stamp it so you can get the duty free tax? I heard if theres no stamp, theres no discount on duty free.
not sure ..mmmm

Thanks!!

no prob
Ohhhhh, so it hasn't started yet. The new entry system
At Haneda it is being trialled I believe there are 10 machines.. more to be added if it is successful
can you explain how these tickets work for the immersive experience
Since it is not open yet, I am yet to explore this
@@NinjaMonkeyguy I got my ticket to teamlab borders
So they won’t stamp your passport? 100% electronic record? Interesting.
Very interesting.. I’m also wondering how exactly it will

Dying to try it!
The lack of an exit stamp is already causing problems when dealing with CoEs >
Is it good time to visit in the mid February?
You can request an exit stamp! Interesting about the CoE's @@amnistar4957

New visa sounds interesting, Japan needs to overhaul their immigration policy or population decline will destroy the economy...
Yes, its a good step forward.. lets see what the final version is like.
