It is said that Malay folk songs and dances are like two inseparable loves - one can not function without the other - so much so that there is a term which unites the two artforms: lagu terian rakyat, or “songs of folk dances.” This medley is a selection of four popular Malay folk songs and dances, arrange for choir and percussion. While the original songs are usually sun in unison while dancing, this medley is constructed to showcase voices mimicking the instruments that would accompany the tune this is sung.
