Tubb il Jarra
A Proverb from the Levant
Shireen Abu Khader and Natalie Fasheh
Toronto Children's Chorus & Oakville Children's Choir
Palestinian Jordanian musicians Shireen Abu Khader and Natalie Fasheh have collaborated to bring this humorous proverb from their native Levant region to life, animating the story through song and body percussion. The piece reimagines the sound, significance, and uses of the clay jugs. The Levant is rich in orated heritage. The proverb "Tubb il Jarra" is merely a glimpse into Levantine culture. It celebrates who we are, where we come from and what we carry within us as individuals who aspire to share in order to bring people and cultures closer together.

The daughter will turn out like her mom ('Like mother, like daughter.')

Toronto Children's Chorus: Join the Chorus
Yes. This is an excellent, _erfreulich_ performance. Truly. And clear pronunciation. I actually believe them.
I learn this for our remembrance day assemblies in elementary school, In retrospect hearing this sung by a children’s choir is something else. Took me a while to find the same arrangement I learned, I always loved the high notes in this. Thanks for sharing
It really is the best version, it took ages for me to search for this arrangement too. I was in the TCC for 4 years in the 90s, I’m sure we sang this arrangement during that time, and/or in the choir at school. If only I had kept all my sheet music from those days I could have saved myself a lot of time!
Yeah I dont know why the standard arrangement seems to be a peppy upbeat major key version 😂 This is the only way Ive ever heard it

Доближават се много до старото звучене на хор"Бодра смяна"!Чудесни са?
Extraordinary performance. Very talented.
Sarhoş salak ?
Not sure why anyone thought this song needed choreography.
That song... that harmony right around 1 minute 6 seconds... amazing. One of my very favourite number of all of Bach's cantatas.
Beautiful, one of my JSB favourites, and very fine voices in this video
The conductor must be very proud of her disciples' outstanding achievement.
Beautifully sung. This was composed by my dad's cousin! Very proud! Such a beautiful melody to go along with a moving and powerful poem.
I guess that technically makes them your cousin too 😅
miss this special performance
Always reminds me of the women running to find Jesus at the tomb! Ich liebe Dieses Bach piece!
Great thank You for good performence
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
My son at the age of nine came home from school one day and told me he had heard this children choir preform and he wanted to join. Joining this choir ended up being one of the most wonderful part of his childhood and something he was so proud of.
Interesting. Hmmmm
Magnific
Beautiful!!! Thank you!
Thank you. So beautiful.
Thank you. Lovely. We will miss you Elise! Fare well and many good wishes. Yours, Jini
It's beautiful!
What a stunning achievement by such a large group; it retains the simple pure, light beauty of two single soloists....and this, by young teens!! Thank you so much.
Gorgeous! So good to see it done with a choral group instead of as a duet as is so commonly done.
Bravo!
Is this arrangement published?
Definitely! I have sung it with a group. Not sure of publisher. It’s Schubert’s original score.
Happy to hear the Chorus
Excellent!
I love all of these songs because I have been in this place and learned a lot of beautiful songs
