    The Andorian's are probably my favorite species on Star Trek Enterprise.

    I for one take "inconsistencies" in "Star Trek" aliens as evidence that this is an entire species from an entire moon, not one tiny village from an island. Different Andorian ethnic groups might have different antenna and skin colors, which would become even more mixed after globalization.
    How different Andorian cultures would regard the four Andorian sexes, their unique sky, and how one should manage your own electromagnetic field, would have a lot of interesting variety, if you ask me.

    Andorians are my favorite Alien Race on Star Trek! Great job on the video! One thing to point out... they actually showed two types of Andorian Warships on ST:ENT the aforementioned Battle Cruiser and a reuse of a Valakian Shuttle as a smaller Andorian Cruiser.

    We do learn something about Andorians in Journey to Babel, Ambassador Shras states that they are a violent race. And in the Kelvin timeline, Dr. McCoy mentions Andorian shingles.

    In both The Trouble with Tribbles and the Animated Series they mentioned they are a "Warrior Race" if I'm remembering correctly I know Spock said as much in yesteryear so that's a bit of cultural background pre-Enterprise

      I believe you are right. They didn't seem to be the most peaceful people on "Enterprise."

    • @atanvardo5730
      @atanvardo5730 3 роки тому

      @@MasterHiramAbiff They are indeed very beligerant. Their conflicts with both the Vulcans and the Terllarites tells us that. Also, Soval literally described the Andorians as an aggressive species. Lieutenant Malcom Reed also described them as militaristic, based on the information he found on the Vulcan database. Andorian Ambassador Shras (TOS) himself described his race as passionate and violent. In TAS (which is also considered canonic), in the episode where an Andorian named Thelin was the science officer serving aboard the Enterprise in an alternate timeline, Andorians are literally described as a warrior species. Plus, the Andorian death duel called Ushaan is exactly the kind of tradition you would expect to find in a warlike culture. I remember the Vulcans also have a similar tradition, but for the purpose of marriage (not vengeance, which is the main purpose of the Ushaan), even though they are not a warrior race anymore (but they were during a big part of their history).

    I always had a soft spot for the Andorians. I went to my only Star Trek-themed party several years ago as an Andorian because I thought they were so cool yet virtually never highlighted in ST shows at that time. I used to have a theory that their name was simply a combination of “And” and “or,” either as a joke or to somehow express their psychological makeup.

      Picard was from France. The simple answer is that Star Trek was created for primarily an
      American audience and the producers felt that having a non-American lead actor (since
      the Captain was typically the protagonist of the series) would turn off US viewers.
      It is true that Picard, while French, spoke with a British accent (Due to Patrick Stewart being
      a Brit) but the producers felt the average American wouldn't know the difference beyond the
      fact the Captain was speaking with a non-US delict. Besides, TNG did have the very American
      Will Riker as Number One to reassure American fans who may have had issues with a non
      American Captain.

      A few of those sources (like the Last Unicorn STRPG material) actually became canon on ENT. Culture, psychology, language, history, arctic homeworld, ushaan duels with icepick-axes, etc.
      Other sources introduced "interesting" notions (like marriages between four Andorian genders being such complex arrangements that the entire species was doomed to extinction) which were wisely discarded in ENT.

      Yeah, Andorians have the Imperial Guard circa 2370 (as a token force) but they have crew on SF ships. Might be like the DS9 Episode with the Vulcan crewed ship who played baseball. Ships with one crew for efficiency but all under one flag.

      I agree with 'TREK on the TUBE' when he says that Andorians did participate in the Dominion War serving aboard Starfleet vessels. But I think you actually asked why the *Andorian Empire* didn't participate in the war... Although it wasn't mentioned on DS9, I guess they did. It is really hard to imagine that a warrior like theirs didn't participate in the war. Specially because their system was also threatened, like virtually all other systems of the alpha quadrant, and even some of the beta quadrant (like the Romulan and the Klingon systems).

    I don't think they leave their space sector, they are not Vulcons, in every show, they throw pointy ears on a few people, Putting them EVERYWhERE! But Andorians, enterprise is 100 years before Kirk, 100 years after the united Federation started, without real enemies, why would they need to leave? Kirk was on a five year mission in deep space. @@atanvardo5730 no you're wrong I have the picture of all of them you remember the Enterprise A Admiral Kirk was making his speech to the crew there was An Andorian there well that's one race of Andorians Enterprise Andorians are another race of Andorians the TOS andorians are another race of andorians and then you got the white-skinned Anear so basically you have three races of Andorians if you count Disco Andorians there the same as Enterprise Andorians plus the subspecies so you're totally wrong on that

    • @atanvardo5730
      @atanvardo5730 3 роки тому

      @@ReneeUnrated I'm sorry, buddy, but you are *badly* misinformed... There are are no TOS race, Enterprise race, etc. They are all the same race of Andorians (except for the Aenar, of couse). Those other races are featured only on Star Trek novelizations, games and comics, which are not canonic, and those races weren't even mentioned on canon Star Trek (our cup of tea), which mean the 7 tv shows, the movies (except for the J.J. Abrahms movies) and the animated series. The physical differences among the blue-skinned Andorians as portrayed on each show (like the position of their Antennae or the shade of their skin, for example) are due simply to changes in the look of the species from one show to another, and *not* to the existance of different races. The Andorians, as a whole species, were just _revisited_ . One member of the "Enterprise" production team even said in an enterwiew: "I couldn't believe we were going to revisit those" (referring to the Andorians). Get your facts, dude. The only way you can convince me is to point out an episode from a tv show or a scene from a movie where 4 different races of Andorians are said to exist. And since there is no such episode or scene, you don't need to waste your time looking for it.

      @@ReneeUnrated it's obvious that you don't have the slightest idea of what you are saying, man. Just take a look at Andorians section on Star Trek Memory Alpha and then on Memory Beta, and you will learn something. What occurred to Andorians also occurred to Klingons. We see Klingons in TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise look different from the Klingons in the original Star Trek because they were redesigned, not because TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise feature are different species of Klingons from that of the original series (although inside the universe of Star Trek it was provided an explanation for this difference in appearance, but this explanation _does not_ include different Klingon species). And, for Discovery, they were redesigned a second time. Andorians were also redesigned for Enterprise, and again for Discovery. And just to be clear, I'm speaking of _canon_ Star Trek. Non-canon Star Trek is another issue... You are speaking of non-canon Star Trek, although you are maybe not aware of this.
