Thanks for watching everyone :)
The gorn are retconned very well in star trek online and quite popular. Very fierce
Strange new World Series is finally putting the missing pieces together in a excellent way with one of the best new characters LAan as a soul survivor of a full on attack from the Gorn. Not since Kirk will it explore is unexplored aspect
of the franchise.
Strange New Worlds..... Has brought the Gorn ahead of Captain Kirk's time !!!! I'd love to see more of them for sure ...
I found it odd that you classified the Gorn as not clever based on the Arena episode. Their ships are equivalent to the Federation, they were able to trick Kirk and crew into beaming down using a mimicked signal and the Gorn actually set the first successful trap in the battle on the planet. The Gorn also figured out first that the recording devices were also a transmitter and translator. Kirk won because, well, he is Kirk but the Gorn seemed to be as intelligent and cunning in the battle.
Now that Strange New Worlds is out, their Gorn are nearly the opposite of what we saw in TOS. The lizard-like appearance is about all they have in common.
Their planet is called Gornar.
One of your best videos. Very informative.
I kind of imagine those shiney multifaceted eyes to be some sort protective contact lenses they wear or maybe vision enhancers like Geordi's visor.
Definitely the best villain in the star trek world they should use them more
i really find it funny as everybody considers starfleet to be the "good guys". They have no honour!
I think it's unfair to say the Gorn Captain was not as intelligent as Captain Kirk since the Gorn Captain's plan was actually better than Captain Kirk's. Out of the materials at hand the Gorn Captain was able to make a quite sophisticated trap and knapped an effective thrusting knife to finish the job once he'd neutralized Kirk's speed and agility advantages. If Gorns come from a planet with a heavier gravity than earths [which would explain their strength] they may also be used to a thicker atmosphere. The clumsiness and wheezing the Gorn shows are very similar to the symptoms of altitude sickness. This would not be the Metrons playing favorites since the heat and dryness was to the Human's disadvantage. Basically an equally hostile environment.
It should also be noted that you don't need the recording/translating device the Metrons provided in a duel to the death. The Metrons said they were to 'resolve their differences', which they did.
A very sound synopsis.
There was a coop shooter game on XBOX 360 set in the Kelvin timeline between 09 and Into Darkness that featured the Gorn as the main enemy. Design pretty similar to how they appeared on Enterprise.

Yeah I know about it. Never played it though. William Shatner did a promo video for that game where he fought the Gorn Captain again but as an old man!
TREK on the TUBE it’s too bad the game isn’t that great. It tries a lot of interesting things with gadgets and such, but it lacks polish.
The Gorn & the android Ruk android, two of my favorite enemy opponents for Kirk & Enterprise. Lol.
Always liked the gorn...
Excellent Video,Very Entertaining, Informative and Fun, i Wholeheartedly Enjoyed! 👍👍

Glad you did :)
Definitely too few insect and reptilian species on Star Trek. I know such things hit the VFX budget hard but it would be possible on Kelvin Trek. I mean they don't know how to burn one hundred million dollars the right way but here it is. A neat Gorn/Starfleet space battle, Kirk and a Gorn stranded on a planet punching the shit out of each other. I would still love to see that again
If concerned about the budget for VFX then they could do a half human half Gorn person. This person wouldn't have as many features as the Gorn so it wouldn't effect the budget as much. Then we would have a way to work them into the the series and learn more of them. another option is to stick to them appearing in the animated series.
This comment aged well!
They aren’t evil. According to some fan fiction, a Gorn outpost was destroyed by the Romulans. They attacked Cestus 3 because they thought it was a Romulan outpost. As far as I’m concerned I would like to see the Gorn Hegemony become a part of the Federation. We know that 400 years in the future there will be Xindi serving on Enterprise J…..why not have some Gorn and even Tholian crew members on the Timeship Relativity. That would be quite entertaining!
Another entertaining video my friend! Peace and long life 🖖
Live Long and Prosper Sir! 🖖
Gorn hell yea need more
If you ever played the Starfleet command games, they were a playable race in those games. It however appears that the games were part of a different timeline however, as the gorn were a confederacy of three main planets and there were two races that aren’t seen in the prime timeline(Hydran and lyran)
Thank You. Very insightful. Honestly? I had no idea we even had this much information. I never saw the Enterprise episode.
I will have to go watch it.
It's called "In a mirror, darkly" It's a two part episodes, entirely set in the mirror universe. So all the characters of Enterprise are savage, back stabbing bastards. :D and yes, we get to see the Tholians and the Gorn. They even modified the opening sequence and music theme of the series, since the episode is set in the mirror universe. You'll enjoy this, I'm sure!
You should see Star Trek tng the Gorn crisis.
I remember they brought back the Gorn in Star Trek: Lower Decks, where one of the characters accidentally beams down in the middle of a Gorn Wedding.
I like it when my roommate cooks her curried dishes but I just don't like when she prepares curried Gorn.
The Gorn is one of my Favorite species along with Vulcan's
Anyone here after the new episode of Strange New Worlds?
Thanks that was fun. Who knows, they may appear again in Discovery at some stage?
_Tom Fulop_
I wouldn't think so. Captain Kirks encounter is supposed to be First Contact so having them in *DSC* wouldn't make much sense. But the S01 Easter Egg was really fun :)
@@TREKontheTUBE Well, in Season 3 they are traveling far into the future, so maybe? And then there's Picard.
Yes as good guys/ gals.
Well, Star Trek Strange New Worlds has re-introduced the Gorn as a creature similar to the alien in the 1979 film "Alien" . I started realizing that Star Trek Strange New Worlds isn't following the Prime Timeline. Maybe it's in the Mirror Universe?
_Suzanne Dargie_
SNW is Prime Timeline. Inconsistencies, sadly, aren't related to the timeline in which the events are set 😅
Anybody here after watching the latest Strange new worlds episode? What did you think about the Gorns in that episode? Curious to know your opinions.
Is there some way you could continue doing Star Trek races videos? I can’t find anywhere on UA-cam that goes into any depth on certain trek races (hydrans, interstellar concordium, lyran, khazinti, tholians) and other obscure but fascinating races.
_glorfac_
I will continue for sure. I loving making lore and races videos! I've just been a little caught up with reviews recently... But I'll make more as soon as possible!
Hahaha...you missed an important Gorn reference. ST DARKNESS - When McCoy and the Admirals daughter are attempting to open 1 of Khans pods, he mentions that he once delivered a Gorn baby. So now we know they don't lay eggs, but give birth to live young.
And retconned again apparently
Seems like you cover so many obscure species but nothing about a much more prominent species: the Betazoids?
Is it just me or are the Gorns similar to the Trandoshans from Star Wars
It’s the other way around
Just watched SNW and they fought the Gorn.
I wish they had stuck with the disco eyes. Maybe its some kind of goggle or decrotive thing.
_Thodnern_
That could have been an interesting way to explain it sadly the remastered version added eye lids.
They may have been prosthetic. If the Gorn Captain had been on the surface leading the attack he may have been looking the wrong way when Captain Kirk used the grenade launcher.
sorry it took a year. those aren't eyes. those are eye protection used on operations since gorns can't use glasses nor such, so they developed that eye protection glass kinda thing.
The main source for gorn information is STO unfortunately. I'd love more about them, their language and culture.
as stated before, they're very famous on STO.
Qapla!
McCoy delivered Gorn twins
Have there been any Request for the Tholions Yet, i hope you can do something on them sometime Sir please?
_Jacen Starhunter_
There have so those bad boys are on the list!
TREK on the TUBE Awesome thank you for telling me Sir, Appreciate it! 🖖
Was trying to explain the Gorn episode of TOS to my wife after watching this week's SNW. Promptly spent the next hour trying to watch videos and figure out your accent. Help?
GORN POWER !!!!!!!!!
Même si honnêtement ce crossover me donne envie depuis longtemps. Ca et le crossover *Planet of the Apes/Star Trek*
Ich verstehe eure Sprache nicht, schreibt bitte deutsch!
Ich spreche kein Deutsch, benutze Google Translate ! :D
Yes bring back the Gorn but not as bad guys, show them as a strange race. Not the same as you is not evil. Unless it's the Greys they are just nasty little things that need to be STOPPED !
More Gorn would be awesome. Treat them like the Ferengi, not enemies, not friends, but something that can be both
I heard in the next season of discovery they are going to add a gorn to the discovery crew. the gorn will be gay of course with it's pronouns being it/roar( pronounced by a gutteral roar that causes instant madness when heard. it make for some steamy romances when the gay gorn steals the doctor away from the engineer. I don't know about you but I think TV is ready for a graphic man on gay gorn love scene.
Hey bro just saying I'm watching this in 2019 there is a star trek video game for the PlayStation 3 based on the jj. Abrams reboot for star trek. It was all about the gorn and how they attacked new vulcan. Look it up
_DMLZ 10k_
Yeah a friend of mine plays quite a lot of the *Star Trek* games so I know about it. This channel focuses on canon events though 🙂
Yeah your right he was looking more at canon. Cool channel by the way I'm subscribed
It was short and Gorny!
Home world: Gornar
