Dr Dan Maggs currently experiencing new stress and keen to know if fasting effects cortisol levels? Do I need to limit fasting at the moment? Weight fluctuating 2-3 pounds per day. I’m not changing my diet at this time so I’m guessing this is cortisol effect. Any diet tips for now?

I live under daily extreme stress. It has made me gain alot of weight. On June 1st I started a keto diet. Its a work in progress. My stress will never disapear but I hope my weight will.
Im still trying to figure out my IF window. 10-4 is my best window but I always feel famished around 6pm. so trying 12-6 but very hard waiting unti 12 to eat.

Absolutely!! My blood glucose goes up when I'm stressed (exercise, angry, too much going on etc) and in turn my ketones go down. When I relax myself my glucose goes back down and ketones go back up. It can happen quite fast (1/2 hour)

I believe stress and trauma can lead to weight gain: because it releases chemicals in your body telling you there is an emergency, which in turn alters your metabolism. Explains a lot to me. I don't know about low carbon though, because I was Slimmer in high carb diets like pasta and rice with days of higher protein.

I know this is an older video but I’m trying to catch up with all of them. I want to say YES and I’d love to find out what you would recommend for those of us who have bad eating habits (that I blame on stress). I have been eating low carb for most of the past three months, and as you’ve stated, I don’t have hunger any more. But over time I have restarted to fall back on old eating habits - eating the right food but under stress (or daily) I eat late at night and during other times. Even though I’m not hungry!!

Yes, I'm stressed. Long term stress from extended family & there's a big event coming up that I'm a part of. I've been doing the keto diet for about 4 months and have lost some weight, but not as much as I read other's have lost. It's also melting from some areas more than others. Frustrating, but I'm not giving up.

very stressed. and depressed. and seeing my weight go up 10 KG in the last 1,5 year despite trying my best to get it down makes it worse. Went from healthy weight to slightly overweight. Been exercising more but doesnt seem to help. Admittedly, I eat bad and order delivery on more days than before. But I havent had the energy for much all year. Apparently depression does that and some people also said im burned out (including two doctors), but... idk, I thought if i started exercising more i might get back to my normal weight. On days I can get out of bed at least... And exercise should be 'medication' for depression. Haven't noticed. This increasing weight and seemingly being an exercise of futility (excuse me if spelled wrong) isnt making my mental state better and just makes the issue worse, huh?
    :(
might also have adhd. i dont know. my mind is always racing, i always forget things, jump from subject to subject, when i talk to someone im already at step 7 when theyre at step 3 and i get really stuck in my head, always thinking, often negative and that just leads to a downwards spiral almost every single time (though my psychologist has helped me see some light at the end of the tunnel and i can sometimes break through the cycle now)
havent been an active member of society in a year. feels bad. at the same time i feel society can go f itself. dont know what i want anymore. To lose some weight i guess, is why i came to this video. as well as change a list of 30 other things that no human being could all do at the same time. but i feel the need to do everything, know everything and have it done or learned yesterday.
guess thats what burned me out in the first place. i never feel good enough for others, or myself.
no idea why im typing out all the extra stuff on a random video on youtube. guess i needed to vent a little. my apologies.

Hey I'm going through the exact same thing... So much stress and depression each and every day and it's so hard to have the motivation to exercise and push yourself without results. That's why I came here to. There's so much going on in my life right now and it's so hard to work though. Honestly my depression has gotten to where I just want to give up some days completely because I feel like as hard as I've been trying to move on and become stronger and better, nothing comes out of it and I'm still stuck in that dark empty place unable to get out... I feel like I relate with everything you said... I guess we just have to stay strong together and maybe at some point we'll find it was worth it

Good day, old bean! Great to see a keto-r from this side of the pond.
I have a request for you, can you dive a bit deeper and go into some of the cultural differences with UK produce? For example, all the US Keto bods go on about Kerygold as it's 'grassfed', but aren't most, if not all, of our butters? How much of our meat is already 'grass-fed'? We're told Canola oil is the antichrist and that 'canola oil is rapeseed oil', but I'm not sure that's true, Rapeseed Oil seems to range from the good to the ugly - so what's the deal on top range/cold-pressed organic rapeseed oil? And is the rapeseed oil you find in most shop-bought mayos just as dangerous as canola oil? Are pasture-raised and free-range eggs the same thing? Why is Doctor Berg such a corporate sell-out?
(OK, one of those you don't have to answer!)
