really like your bedroom setup - bedframe and the paint 'headboard' and how that color works with the blanket and stuff. it feels very intentional, well put together, and a chill space.

For now I’ll leave them black I think. I wanna do mixed metals with black and brass. All inspired by the new light fixture that you’ll see in part 2 of this makeover 😁
I have so many fixtures that are circa 1979...lights too in the house I bought. Outdoor ones as well. 😳 Luckily many will look great oil rubbed bronze or whichever. Yeash...I'm newer to this...have any tips - or what is my chance of success with floor registers, outdoor light fixtures (rough, faded, old) and DOH, lol...my house has an intercom system lol... way cool but $$$ to update. Nutone brown w/cassette and units in most rooms....plastic though..eek
Great work bro. For the holes. Next time put some painters tape over the holes, put 2 holes in the tape and now you have the exact distance and size of the holes.
So mine started peeling after a few months. But honestly I rushed the process a bit for this video. Since then I have repeated the steps with adequate drying time. And it’s holding up amazing!
So everything in the shower is holding up very well. The only thing that isn’t is the faucet handles in the sink. Over many months they originally were changing color and looking a little aged which i was okay with, but down the line paint started scratching off. I think probably b/c the sink faucet is the absolute most highly touched surface out of everything I spray painted. This was also the first thing I spray painted. As far as doing things differently I would have given each coat a full day to cure. I was in a pinch and sort of had to rush things along. My shower did have extra time to cure so I wonder if that also contributed to the color holding up. Hope that helps!
Amazingly! When I did it for this video I rushed the process for the sake of making a video lol and it chipped a little bit after a few months, but I went back and repeated the process with adequate drying time between each coat and since then they have been perfect!
I have the same paint and was going to paint some light pendants! I thought the paint looked a little to champange gold but it looks fantastic o this youtube. I havnt tried it on metal or primed surface but maybe that the difference! The paint has primer in it, so do you think its necessary to prime a light fixture that wont be touched like faucets are. I also bought a rustoleum top coat. Its says it supposed to provide a durable finish. If i Do my faucets and I think I may try I will be sure to follow you method but not sure if its worth all the work since you said yours may need redoing soon!
Mostly there is some discoloration and a few scratch marks. Thankfully the discoloring almost makes it look like brass haha but it definitely could use a touch up. I have found that most people have better success with black spray paint, which shouldn’t really have problems with color changing. Hope that helps !
Thanks so much! So far the paint it holding up pretty well. I can definitely see some discoloration on the handles, which is making it look more like brass and less like gold (which I actually like lol) But I feel like it may need a touch up once in a blue. I’ve seen that most people use matte black for this type of DIY, which seems to be more successful because it shouldn’t discolor like more shiny finishes might. Hope that helps!
Is it still holding up? Any issues with rust or wear after 6 months of use? I am nervous that it'll wear after a while and the need to have to keep re-doing it
Great question! I ended up doing this spray paint technique on: the faucet, shower head, bath tap, towel holders, toilet paper holder. They have all held up without signs of wear EXCEPT the sink faucet. The handles have began to discolor and show a few scratches. I’m not sure if it’s because it a more high tough surface or if I made a mistake somewhere in the process since the sink is the first thing I spray painted.
@@joshmriveraCould you give us an update as to how this project held up long-term? I'm looking to lightly do my matte black bath faucets so they look a little like oil-rubbed bronze.
Excellent! That faucet looks amazing!
Great info about painting the hardware and drain. I’m going to try it now 👍🏽
Well done. Good instructions. Thank you
The cardboard template hack is a lifesaver. Never thought of that!
Still figuring it out myself! Haha but definitely so helpful
80 and 220 grit sand paper, plastic drop and painters tape, rust oleum automobile primer speay, paint spray, laquer
That’s exactly what I did to my daughters door handles. She’s 9 and not very careful and they’re holding up pretty good!
hi, how did it hold up long term the spray paint? Did it chip?
This looks great! I’d love to know how the paint held up.

He did do that in the video. He stated that was the protective layer. I didn't see what kind, though.

Hahaha you are the sweetest. Thank you so much! I seriously appreciate it so much. ♥️
Love how this turned out! I wonder if the paint on the faucet would hold up longer if polyurethane was spray painted on as a top coat?
Love it thanks for the tips...about to get started on my hubby bathroom
Good luck!
Do we need to use primer ? I see the gold paint you used already has primer as well !
where did you get the original cabinet and vanity top?! super cute
You have a very good, unique taste!
Haha thank you!
Hi there id like to know how the paint is 3yrs later, still gold? thanx
So talented! It came out amazing!
Thanks so much!! 🥰
Has the faucet psint held up?
Huge difference! are you gonna do the vanity legs too?

Anything antique like that I would probably get restored! Haha love me some vintage

Great job Jose. Can you also do a hair tutorial? I like the style
Hahah thank ya
Love this. How does it hold up? Any follow up? :) I am about to do the same lol

Just checking in, how did the color hold? Any problems? Anything you would have done different?

Awesome! Yeah I think for a light fixture you can go ahead and skip the primer. Good luck with your project!
Wow! Amazing gold. 4 months after, do the paint peel off?

I was nervous about spray painting my fixtures because of the vapors. Im going to do it!
Be careful! Try to wear a mask and leave windows open. It’s definitely not a fun smell
Great video

Super niiiice! Also love that bed!
Haha omg thank you!
Seeee I’m trying to do Matte blk but the faucet is like plastic 😮
Probably easier to remove the fixture, spray, and reinstall
Update?
Some things are just way easier to remove and then paint like the sink faucet.
It would be so much easier to remove the faucet…
Very true! But I had never done that before and was scared to commit to reinstalling with no experience lol
