i make my own vinegar but I don't use salt and it still kills the weeds. I just walk around the yard with a spray bottle on stream and squirt the individual weeds. For a larger application I'd probably use a rig like this but if I were going to use it around my flowers or vege's I'd just pull them and keep my plants mulched to keep any vinegar from getting to my plants. It doesn't hurt pets, it doesn't hurt us and it doesn't hurt the soil. Even if your soil became a little acidic from using it all the time just sprinkle some baking soda , soda ash or wood ash on it and mix it in. I haven't had any problems with this hurting my soil but I haven't tried it on a large scale. I'm starting the back to eden method in my granddaughters backyard and on a small scale in my own. We plan to use mulch and vinegar to control weeds between the beds. I won't be using vinegar in the beds, we'll just pull them if any pop up through our mulch.
@Shawn Daniels Thank you so much for this detailed explanation. This is what I have been looking for. At 62, it stresses me to weed my garden farm every two weeks. Very quickly.... please does this solution not have any negative effects on the soil nutrients. Your immediate response will be highly appreciated! Thanks once again.
This works. I used straight vinegar. I wanted to kill Japanese beetles on my knockout rose bush. The beetles dropped, so did my rose bush. It also smelled. Don't use this on any plants you want to keep. Weeds? YES!!
Question was, can I spray my garden? I think maybe between rows on a CALM day, but it kills anything green. Also I believe that over time, it would leech into the surrounding soil and slow or prohibit growth. Would I use it in a garden, probably not.
But the real question is, does it works only on flora, that you spray it on? Vinegar is acid, which will probably change the ground pH, which you will need to solve. Or you are going to have a problem with moss or even with useless soil.
Hey is there a difference between distilled white vinegar and white vinegar. I can’t seem to find any 5% white vinegar where I live, only distilled white vinegar x
Does it kill the foliage or root? It kills the leafy parts, yes it may come back, there are some weeds that may need a couple of applications. It is still much safer and cheaper than the poison made be Monsanto.....
Homemade using that efficient on killing weeds but it's way more safer then products that use poison however store products are better at kid lying them so yeah
We have had bad dandelions lately and one neighbor has more than us and the others have none. The neighbors with none are good friends of ours and they gave us some of what they use and it kills off weeds but not grass so well it's great! Now we just need it to fully die off and seed in grass
Just tried this so hope it works, only thing is I'm trying to kill what I would say is a jungle of a garden, might need a few more litres of vinegar lol
Can't answer that, Give it a shot and let me know if it works. It should kill anything green that the solution comes in contact with. I have not had issues with plants I want to keep near by. :)
what is the soap for exactly? I mean, it is the acidity that is killing/drying out the weeds - I could understand throwing some lemon juice in to raise the acidity...but soap? I'm not sure why this is even an ingredient.
The soap is simply to allow the vinegar to hold on to the foliage a bit longer, I suppose you could us anything that will help it "stick" to the foliage for as long as possible.
The ones I sprayed did come back in a few weeks but definitely not as big or strong, sprayed them again and they were gone for the rest of the year. We live in a COLD area of the country, so they were gone come winter. They did not come back the following spring. When the leafy part of the plant dies it stresses the roots to the point of non survival. Of course more weeds will try to take it's place but it did take care of the ones as they were growing. Even with round up or other poison weeds come back eventually. The point is, it is not a poison, and not $30 per gallon. We have children and animals, we are always looking for safer alternatives. Hope this helps. nothing to lose except a couple of dollars and some time.

Glad to see it was store bought. I've got the same recipe from a beekeeper, but he says to use a stronger vinegar. It's the acidic content that's important. We've got a horrible problem with thistle. I've tried with just vinegar. What's the advantage of the soap? Thanks.
Maybe if you remove the weeds with your hands as much as you can first and then spray, it will probably prevent the weeds from growing back for a longer time.
Okay, so great vid. HOWEVER, just killing them is only half the effect of the solution. Now you have to get RID of them. You still have to painstakingly pull them all up unless you don't mind them laying there dead -- or alive, which is really the reason we don't want them there. We don't want them there, period.
Hello Shawn, Great video, I forwarded it to my friends. Check out John's videos, too, he talks about organic and natural gardening: John from Grow your Own Greens. He has a range of natural bug control agents. I personally prefer to pull dandelion and such by hand and make tea with it. But for those people who have large areas and commercial zones where they don't have much time then the vinegar is definitely the solution. But even in larger zones, one can utilize the weed plants and make detox products out of it. It takes more time and effort of course. I love dandelion because it is the ultimate liver detox. Milk thistle heals liver cirrhosis actually. Daisies also have strong medicinal value. You can also use young dandelion leaves for making salads with.

Brilliant. Glad you thought to do the time lapse too.

thanks for sharing these recipes.
Let's Get It🎉
It's a mazing. I have to try this.Thanks
Grate video. Thank ya kindlee
Yes it will kill grass too

+Shawn Daniels the acid is gonna be deluted with rain water over time... so no risc of any buildups :) unless u use extreme amounts of vinegear...
But the real question is, does it works only on flora, that you spray it on? Vinegar is acid, which will probably change the ground pH, which you will need to solve. Or you are going to have a problem with moss or even with useless soil.
Great video! Going to have to try this
does it kill trifids

When is the best time to spray when sun is beaming

Vinegar is actually far more toxic than Roundup.

The question that needs answered is does it kill the root or just the foliage . If it just kills foliage the weed will come back pretty quick.

Can I spray this in garden around vegetables?

I have cacti style plants in the small garden. does vinegar n salt kill everything in the garden bed. i have weeds growing amongst the plants.
Can't answer that, Give it a shot and let me know if it works. It should kill anything green that the solution comes in contact with. I have not had issues with plants I want to keep near by.
:)
I want to try to use this but if it kills grass too then I can only use it in areas where there are only weeds
will vinger kill a large cordyline ?? ...6 ft high and probably as wide.. its to big for a little garden .. thanks..
Why don't you see if someone wants your plant or you could advertise it for sale and say buyer must dig it up just a thought
it kills the weed ,but what about the roots?
It will kill grass? So i guess its just a spot application then not the entire lawn.
what is the soap for exactly? I mean, it is the acidity that is killing/drying out the weeds - I could understand throwing some lemon juice in to raise the acidity...but soap? I'm not sure why this is even an ingredient.

When using vinegar, the weeds which appear to be dead, typically get green again and come back to full strength don't they?
does it kill the roots ? (i will try it , but just today i decided to use a bit of roundup to an unbeatable for a rookie situation )
Question: Did the weeds actually die completely, or did they eventually come back a few weeks/months later?
The ones I sprayed did come back in a few weeks but definitely not as big or strong, sprayed them again and they were gone for the rest of the year. +Bee Bob It makes the solution stick to the leaves longer instead of just running off.

doesnt it kill grass, too?
Dead in about 7 hours. I am not sure about ivy etc... Try it and let me know. Try adding table salt to give it an extra kick.
It gets on flowers that have just sprouted, does it kill them? ( please reply)
Autumn Rockstar it WILL kill anything green and growing. I have used it around plants but very sparingly, on a very calm day.
I LOVE your Manly Man's voice. Very handsome sounding.

the sound of weeds dying Methylchlorophenoxypropionic Imbibe
The 'weed' you killed is an edible one.
But did anyone check if dish soap and vinegar doesn't combine to make something as bad as roundup?
i would need 20 galons of vinegar
Still only about $20.....try buying that much Roundup!
that looks like dandelions

do not for get acetic acid + phosphates
Remember vinegar is acidic and will damage concrete
just add salt and oil and you got yourself a salad.
herbicide is cheaper. $8 concentrate makes 10 gallons and covers a few thousand square feet.
And toxic as HELL.
Vinegar doesn't cause cancer!
This guy wipes his ass with salad.
I use round up... love round up.. I tried this method and it grew back 3 weeks later waste of time
You'll love the cancerous tumors you develop then too.

I don't think we needed the time lapse, before and after would have been fine
I disagree, it proves results were from the same day which is impressive to me.
