Good advice. I like how you keep nudging the younger writers along. The sketches were pretty funny too.

50? You ain't old, mate. You are just starting your second lap.
I am 84, English. I started writing my first novel on my birthday in May. I now live in the Caribbean and have no English-speaking friends here. I have outlived my former friends.
My writing is going OK, but I would like someone to discuss it with, even if only superficially.
Can anyone suggest an online site where I could post extracts from my novel? Possibly in exchange for my reading their work? The only ones I have found are limited to romance, sci-fi, fantasy, or young adult writing, none of which are my bag.

Awesome that you’re writing and living where you like. Unfortunate about not having people around.
There should be writing groups for just about anything, but the ones I’m familiar with are more SF focused. One idea is to look around Reddit and see if there’s a group to your liking.
And of course you can discuss things here, a small bit growing community.

“Your life’s not over yet” not the most inviting sentence for someone 50 or over 😂
