I own a 2021 Spyder and just picked up my ‘25 Boxster GTS 4.0. Both have manuals. I’ve owned several 911s including a 2018 GT3 Touring. I sold all the 911s because for street driving I enjoy the 718s much more. I also own an Emira which is the car that will leave before the Porsches. Chris is correct…..get one while you can!! YMMV

Long gearing issue isn't that big of an issue. You can get Dundon Motorsports or Sharkwerke if you really wanted shorter gearing. I'm never disappointed with the 4.0

I don’t own a Porsche to fiddle with screen. I own one for the pure driving experience

Best Cayman GTS 4.0 review on UA-cam. You hit all the nuances that most reviewers don’t catch like how the GTS allows you to dance. I test drove GT4 and it had too much grip I ended up buying the GTS manual. They actually made less GTS’s compared to the GT4 so I guess you can say it’s more rare!

Picked up mine last year after a 2 year wait and could not be happier. I'm sick of the gearing complaints - It's not a problem to me because you don't need to redline the car every second you drive it. Shifting up to 5 or 6K is still just as fun since there is gobs of torque, and if it's really a problem for people, that's what DeMans Motorsport is for. You can get it regeared for like ~$12K . The infomtaimnent screen does not bother me at all because look at all the new cars coping eachother with the dual screens that got rid of the analog tach and the hvac contreolls and other buttons for that matter. The trendy tacked on ipad sucks in newer cars too. All my previous cars were older so to me it's still nice and new and works very well. LOVE this car!!!! A future classic and long term keeper fort sure

I’m a huge Porsche fan but I’ll tell you right now, if Porsche doesn’t change their ways, GM and Ford are going to eat their lunch with the ZR1 and Mustang GTD. Porsche is going all-in on hybrid/electrifications while GM is letting it rip with massive displacement ICE engines. Huge props to GM and Ford.

I'm perfectly happy with my 987.1 and they will have to pry my stubby little fingers from my shifter! I do love the GTS 4.0 though.

I'm not so much into Cayman, but Porsche got things right with the Boxster GTS 4.0. You have that glorious 911 engine but still have the same convertible roof mechanism as any other Boxster below it. The 718 Spyder's roof is an absolute crap!

When you say the Cayman S is boring, maybe you mean the 718-the 987 Cayman S is certainly not boring in my book…

I'm with you 100% however what if I can't justify the cost?! What should I go for a 718 Cayman 2.0T PDK or GR86 Premium manual? I currently have an S2000 AP-1

I chose a 2017 718 Cayman S a couple of months ago. Very happy. With an ECU tune, it makes the same HP and +100 lb-ft of torque over the GTS 4.0. The tq band is way wider as well. Find them in the $50-60 range.

A Cayman with one or two lightweight a/c motors providing instant torque, a smaller lighter battery at the very bottom of the floor, 50/50 balance..., could make an electric cayman the king of autocross.

The moaning about long gears is getting so old. If you think it's that big of an issue, spend the couple grand on Deman, Sharkwerks, etc gears and STILL be 50k cheaper than the equivalent 911... And almost as fast on the street.

iICE not going anywhere. Any car company switching to EV only is committing commercial suicide

I have one and think the interior is perfect. Not too much tech and real gauges and controls.

Def not the first time Porsche admitted they were wrong. The 991.1 GT3 did not have a manual option. The 991.2 did because Porsche admitted not everyone wanted a PDK. The issue with the 718 GTS 4.0 is the long gearing.
