    I made a pair of lutiers clamps last year after seeing them in Canadian woodworking magazine and it was a failure, its nice to finally make them and have them work. Great job.

      Yes. KLEMMSIA was founded in 1914 and is the origin manufacturer of the cam clamps. Here on UA-cam are some videos of the known cam clamp and of the newest invention. The KLEMMSIA Basic Adapter.

    nice vid -- clamps great for luthier work (guitar sound holes to clamp bridges). Lace wood looks a lot like mahogany

    Very nice build! A thought struck me. What if you made a similar clamp, but with both jaws able to slide along an X by X piece of square tubing (or just square stock); where X is the narrower measurement of your bench dog holes? You see where I'm going with this? It would be a fully adjustable cam clamp, that also served as a holdfast. Of course, you could use a round pipe (or stock) for the spine.. But your bench has square holes.. Thank you for this video!

    Excellent work! I really admire your work, you are a true craftsman! I made one for the clamp on my homemade table saw fence and it took me many tries to get the curvature on the cam right and the pivot pin in the right location. Do you have plans or a guide for these clamps or future projects? If not how did you know what curvature to use and where the pivot pin should be located? Thank you!

    nice design, any chance you could do a Matthias style jig to measure the clamping force they exert? I'm intrigued as to how much force a cam that size can bring to bear.

    • @YoungJe
      @YoungJe  8 років тому +2

      Most cam clamps do not have great strength
      It is just for quick and convenient use

    Try pushing down on the leading edge of the piece when planing. otherwise, it doesn't plane flush with the leading surface. Nice clamp design.

    Why did the board came out twisted when you joined it on the jointer?

    • @YoungJe
      @YoungJe  8 років тому

      Usually one side works with jointer and the other side with planer
      In moving images, one side is a jointer and the other side is a hand plane
      In other words, the twisted side is the one that is not working with the jointer
