    Hi Dolce! It's been a minute since I talked about my hair but I do love yours. It's truly beautiful. I can honestly say the regimen that I'm working with is truly good for my hair. My length is way past the shoulders, semi mid-back lane. I'm a senior citizen in my early sixties and with age and medications, my hair has suffered over the last 5 years. A perm it now every 4 months and I'm also taking Geritol which has truly helped me. I went from shoulder length see through hair to like I said semi mid-back. I also stopped using semi-permanent dye. I learned to embrace my gray hair which I love now. Again I am truly happy with the results and my hair is very very healthy.

    Deeper Dive!! ❤
    You are so right. At each milestone, I had to take a deeper dive to grow my hair longer!! Each length presents it’s set of positives and negatives! Whew!
    1) From chin length
    2) to neck
    to shoulder
    3) to armpit!
    4)My next challenge is to reach mid-back.
    5)After that, to be fully and thickly mid-back. I would be happy there. Maybe in a year from now.
    6)My dream is for someone to honestly describe me as having long hair.
    7) Right now, I would probably be described as having medium length hair.
    8) YOU, my dear, DEFINITELY HAVE LONG HAIR! Hands down! No 2 ways about it! Case Closed!😊

    April 2024 I cut off my 300 count x 35” micro interlocks.
    July 14, 2024 I relaxed my hair with “Motions” sodium hydroxide lye relaxer and applied “ANSWR” keratin smoothing treatment to my relaxed hair directly after the relaxer using the appropriate Olaplex products before during and after each treatment with excellent results! Every 3 months I reapply the keratin treatment to the new growth so that I don’t have an issue with 2 different textures/breakage.
    I plan to reapply the relaxer every 6 months and the keratin treatment every 3 months. I shampoo my scalp twice, condition, use a leave in conditioner, blow dry jelly and a heat protector before applying heat and only once per week followed by oiling my mid-shaft and ends with Olaplex #7, wrapping my hair nightly. I use the “RevAir” dryer, electric guarded hot comb temp 330 degrees only.
    I clip my ends as needed. My hair is silver, 4A/4B, medium density, grows 1- 11/2” monthly. The keratin treatment keeps my hair humidity resistant and easy to maintain. I plan to keep my length at mid back and layered. I keep my beard and mustache trimmed short. I am dark skinned with silver hair and 68 years old, retired widower, father of three, grandfather of five, working at staying fit.
    Your videos are inspiring.

    Hi ❤
    I bought K-18 today.
    The word is that it goes into the hair shaft deeper than Olaplex.
    Olaplex supposedly smooths the vertical cuticle, while K-18 goes through to the inner horizontal.
    I never used Olaplex. Olaplex is said to be the Original Gangster. And K-18 supposedly took the technology of Olaplex and improved upon it.
    I plan to use the K-18 today. It’s expensive though. But, I am working on getting length. I am now past my shoulders. Armpit length basically.
    I am texlaxed. I use AFFIRM: Dry & Itchy Scalp Formula.
    I use semiPermanent color. Clairol.

    • @DolceDawn

    Your Hair is beautiful. Do you think you have to trim a lot because you use heat often? I trim every relaxer which is every 10-12 weeks however I don’t use direct heat really that much maybe twice a year.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  Місяць тому

      Hey, Sherelle! Thank you! Well, I started trimming every 4 & 8 weeks because the middle back section of my hair would always thin out and break. That section alone was always my issue. So, I think my hair loves a trimming schedule that aligns with its growing cycle, especially the middle section, more so than anything regarding heat. Otherwise, I would think I would have issues all over my head. Plus, I like freshly cut ends, so that drives me to trim more often, too. 😉👍🏾

    Thee most beautiful relaxed hair on UA-cam!! So healthy looking, with shine and movement. Loves it😍. I am curious Dolce, do you wear your hair wrapped up for most of the work day? I find that since I go to work and I wear my hair out, it dries out about 3-4 days after my weekly wash day.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 місяці тому +3

      Thank you so much!! ☺️ And funny you ask because this past week I kept it wrapped - only taking my hair down for virtual work meetings. But I do try and wear it out as much as possible. If using the right products, your hair should maintain its moisture until next wash day.

    New ❤Product Usage: Lottabody Sleek Me Blow Out Lotion.
    This product worked so well that my hair behaved as if I had a relaxer instead of being texlaxed. My hair was really smooth. I don’t flat iron because my hair is fine and then looks to flat with flat ironing. I just blow dry with my RevAir, my great love ❤. And roll
    the ends or do braidouts.,Anyway, the sleek me lotion worked so well that my hair lost it’s volume.
    I like it, and I may purchase some in bulk to use more in the summer when my hair gets too poofy. I need to see how this works in a day or too.

    New Product ❤Usage: K-18 leave in.
    This product goes on after shampoo. Before any conditioner, because it needs to travel deep into the hair. Wait 4 minutes, and then continue with your hair routine. I think it makes a difference. Must use 4 times. After you do your shampoo. Then when you need it. There is no way 4 pumps will work on my hair. I had to use more. Which makes it more expensive. Do I like it? Yes!! I need this to continue to work on length. I am now armpit length. Next goal, mid back! I need all the help I can get, since I both texlax and use semipermanent color.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 місяці тому +1

      Remember, ALSO use K-18 before and after EVERY PROCESS! Use it before you relax/texlax. AND then directly afterwards. Use before and after you color as well. Before conditioner and other steps.
      I bought mine on E-Bay. Cheaper.
      That’s why it is more expensive for those of us that relax and color our hair. We have to use K-18 before and after each process.
      Others just use it only after they shampoo.

    Hi Dolce, I have been seeing some crazy breakage and split ends and I figured out the cause. This early summer/late spring I started adding moisturizer and oil to my hair from the ears down every few days. Turns out adding water to my hair randomly was not as good as UA-camrs say. My hair has see through bits and the breakage went all the way up until I caught it in some places more than 17 inches:( So I have stopped doing that foolishness and I am using bond builders and protein treatments to strengthen my hair. Of course there was some cutting and I continue to trim where it needs it. I am deferring my 6 month relaxer until the hair is stronger so will got to 9 months before relaxing. I will go back to lots of moisturizing products on wash day and increase my wash days to keep my hair moisturized versus adding it outside of wash day. That has worked for years and proves I need to stay away from trendy BS!

    Hey Dolce, I been back and forth with levelling out my hair. I noticed a little breakage at the nape and decided to trim that to the white meat. After doing that I keep feeling conscious of the length compared to the rest of my hair. So tempted to level it all put to the length of the nape as plan is to grow it as long as I can - well at least to shoulder length at the moment. I'm trying yo aim for the blunt cut lob. My hair does not have its thickness as it used to and so the longer it is getting the more obvious that I have fine (healthy) hair. Decisions...decisions🤔

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 місяці тому

      Hey, MrsD! I hear you. I will say that it may prove frustrating to try and keep the nape area the same length as the rest of your hair as the nape typically grows slower and is, therefore, usually shorter (unless you keep a short bob). Mine is. But I’m glad you trimmed/cut it because it WILL help it flourish. And since your hair is fine, you may want to opt for a bob with some light layers to make it look fuller. Just a suggestion… But you said it right: decisions, decisions. lol

    New ❤product usage: To moisturize texlaxed hair:
    I bought a stalk of aloe vera plant. Scooped out ALL
    the liquid and messaged it into my scalp and hair. Dry. Not shampooed. Wrapped in plastic for an hour. Then rinsed it out. Wow! My texlaxed hair was fresh and smooth as if I had undergone a time-consuming fresh relaxer. Very strange in a very good way!!!
    I am 3 weeks post texlaxer. After the aloe Vera, My new growth felt just like my texlaxed hair.
    I will see if it extends my stretch. It’s very interesting. A stalk of aloe Vera was only $2 at the supermarket.

Sulfate-free ain't for me lol Also learning to use less leave-in conditioner and going back to hot oil treatments with tea tree oil. Is your touch up schedule still every 8 weeks?

    I’m 4 weeks post relaxer 😊 I’m planning on not trimming my hair for the next 3 months (1 month so far) because it’s looks uneven in some areas! But I’m taking great care of it 👏🏾

      Hmm… As you can guess, that makes me a little nervous (not trimming for 3 mos.), so please take extra care and keep an eye on those ends that they don’t get worse.
      Thanks for the update and I look forward to your next one. 💁🏾‍♀️👍🏾

    Wow! How long did it take you to grow your hair like this?
    Edit: The middle part is difficult for me too! How do you prevent breakage. I don't even do heat anymore and and still experiencing breakage and shedding.

      Hey, kaym.2854! Hmm… well, including a couple of setbacks, I would say it’s been about 4 years since starting my hair journey. And me keeping a trimming schedule has really helped my middle part - actually, ALL parts - with breakage. I also wrap my hair at night, too.

    Hi Miss Dolce! your hair still looking fabulous as always! (This my youtube page that I hardly use, the other one is that profile pic of my hubby and I, you probably recognize me lol!) But any way, I durn messed up and got some braids this past summer, and that synthetic hair did some damage I tell ya! My hair had breakge and looks thin in some parts, my newgrowth thick and full though, so atleast it shows that it grew. So, to try to get my hair back on track, I started back using my keracare humecto creme conditioner with each wash ( I leave in for atleast an hour) I also am using the keracare hydrating shampoo. I still use my theorie shampoo and conditioner twice a month. Leave-ins I use the keracare detangling conditioning mist. Oh, and I tried out that keracare silkn seal liquid sheen spray as a heat protectant and my hair loves it! Leaves my hair feeling nice and looking salon glossy! It was alil pricey though lol! But I still will use my silk elements heat protectant spray back and forth. That's my update, hope you are having a wonderful week so far!

      Hey, Lauren! I see you, girl! 😉
      Oh, noooooooo! Im sorry to hear about the breakage. That synthetic hair can be rough on ours, but I like your bounce back strategy. And I JUST threw away my Silken Seal bottle a few weeks ago! (It was really old. lol) I loved it, too! Good stuff. 👍🏾 I appreciate you keeping me updated and hope you have a great rest of the week, sweetheart! ♥️

      @@DolceDawn Thankyou so much! You as well! Now I don't know which heat protectant is my favorite between the keracare silken seal spray or the silk elements heat protectant spray. Didn't think the keracare one was gonna be all that but I was fooled lol! They both got the name silk in it and live up to their names 😁

    Your hair always looks so beautiful. I am currently struggling with getting shine in my hair. I have tried a clear rinse, olapex no.3, silicon mix, and 2 hair gloss serums. Nothing has worked for me. I don’t know what I could do to revive it and give it some life. Hopefully hair will get its act together lol

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 місяці тому +1

      Hey, Jay! I'm sorry to hear you’re struggling with getting shine. Do you use heat? If so, ceramic flat irons are great for adding shine. If not, roller setting with a good setting lotion will do the trick as well as serums and wrapping hair in a silk/satin scarf. Clarifying your hair helps to get rid of shine reducing buildup… But as long as it’s not damaged, we can definitely find a solution and get your hair to shine. ✨

      @@DolceDawn I’m relaxed but it’s fairly healthy. I think heat might be the problem. I don’t use much heat because I’m scared of damaging my heat. Typically what heat setting or range do you use?
