I got Y'shtola via a die roll and I gotta say, my feelings towards her changed ever-so-slightly She always felt kinda aloof to me, but this moment felt so... tender, especially the little voice crack in "it was... a horror beyond description" this expansion really went all out when it came to reinforcing the notion the scions are more than allies and coworkers, they are our _friends_
The VAs really knocked their performances out of the park. In the G'raha version of the scene, after he says the line about your victories coming at considerable cost to yourself, in the pause before the next line, there was a quiet, barely noticeable exhale of emotional stress. It's so subtle that think I'm only hearing it now in this video because I'm watching it with my noise-canceling headphones on, because I for sure didn't catch it when I played through the scene myself with normal speakers. But hearing made it now makes it clear the VA was really putting himself emotionally into G'raha's shoes while delivering the lines. It's all so well done.
Yshtola is a stoic who expresses her emotions and concerns in subtle ways from her chosen actions to the waivering of her voice at certain times despite not looking shocked or effected. Kudo's to her Va for that. This is the first time she truely opens herself up to us to make sure nothing is left unsaid. I love that she has kept the Night's Blessed mannerisms and rituals, saying goodbye to us with their gesture and their own phrase for farewell's
You want interesting proof of that? During a Bozja solo fight you have an option to call in your strongest allies...or your best of friends. So NPC's will fight alongside you. When you choose your best of friends the Scions are summoned, Ryne even shows up showing just how close she got to you!

I picked Thancred, he was a meh character to me until ShB, but his father/daughter relationship with Ryne and him dealing with Minfilia being gone elevated him to one of my favorites.
Ah yes, another Thancred enjoyer. I liked him when he started to pick up the pace in HW but that was short. During SB he had little to no screen time, at least none I can remember. I often fear he's not popular enough to be kept in the upcoming stories...
Feel the exact same about him. Not that I picked him, but he's definitely one of my favorites now. But... who isn't a favorite, now? Ironically Y'shtola might be the weakest character to me now lol
@@occamsaturn I didnt have him as my first pick but I do love his quips, cool battle cutscenes and more but yeah Y'shtola bond does feel the most distanced even if you try to seek out her unique dialogues options+content trickling from a class npc. Like Bae wulf mentioned, he does not have as much 1 to 1 time in EW like Urianger who shined quite nicely yet just the bits of personal dilemma we got to see with him from ShB had already made him more closer as if family. Especially the box quests which I think are tied
Loved G’raha’s and it was my first choice! His words hit deep- not just in context for the story- but as a person battling depression and anxiety- how BADLY I wish someone did this. In a moment all bravado and lofty titles are stripped away in the wake of his words and you’re just a person again with vulnerabilities and weaknesses that he’s willing to help your shoulder that, so you can face the next day- no longer alone in your feelings. With the promise of sharing more happy memories with him as well. He’s willing to stand by your side through the good and the bad. However which way you read it (platonic or romantic) everyone needs someone like this in their lives. Someone who never forgets that you’re just a human being.
That's the perfect way to put it, and I completely agree. Perhaps that's part of the reason those words touched me so much. It's a reminder that even when you put on a strong face, you are still seen and recognized for the efforts you put forth, and accepted either way.

G'raha is the most canon one imo, he would absolutely come talk to you and also he, as someone who saved his own world at great peril to his body, just gets it. He's not like "don't do this" he's like "Yo whatever you gotta do I got your back like lets half up the necessary sacrifice." They all have really great excuses to come visit you, G'raha, Alisaie, and Alphinaud are the ones I most think actually would though.

I think Alisae is more canon, just because we’ve shared a similar scenario many times before in SB and ShB. It makes perfect sense she’d come again to talk about it. But I liked Y’Shtola the most. It’s incredibly rare for WoL to get an intimate bonding moment with her. The scene means so much for our bond with her, that we sometimes forget even exists in the first place. Our proud mother, lol.

Estinien was going to make a move on the WoL, but being socially awkward, he lost his nerve at the last moment and tried to play it cool by Dragoon leaping out the window.
You know despite all of these scenes I think it’s not a mistake that g’raha and alisaie’s are the most thematically potent. G’raha’s is a wonderful callback to both you time on the first and in arr and serves not only to prove how far you’ve come in regards to the dangers of the trials you face but also to remind you that though it may feel as if you are just a weapon for people to wield in the face of hardship, there are those that genuinely care for you as a person. A theme which is obviously played upon a lot amongst the scions but it strikes particularly hard with g’raha considering he was in a position of power to do so and didn’t anyways. As for her alisaie, hers serves as a confirmation that you are not invincible. I personally already knew that after the whole duty with fighting as teh imperial solider bc I seriously thought the wol was gonna die and we would continue the story in the life stream, but I’m not sure how that scene affected everyone else. In any case the wol is most certainly not invincible to emotions and wanting to do dangerous things, this all of us know but it feels so good to see another scion know it too. That she was just as scared as we are. Their is a certain type of camaraderie in seeing someone else feels the same way as you and alisae’s character captures it spectacularly. (Think back to when teh scions we’re being called and she was reasonably freaking the fuck out as most of us were also doing, in an odd way it felt good to have our emotions represented in an actual character) I say it is no mistake that these two scenes are so potent and I think it’s because these two are the closest canonically to the wol. Their the ones that will biker over what you want, the ones who immediately knew something was wrong when zenos was in your body and the ones to run over first when they saw who they thought was you coming back after disappearing. These scenes hit the hardest because these characters understand you the most. Sorry this is so long I just had some brain worms I needed to get out. It may also be too reliant on my own feelings regarding the game but I still wanted to say it anyways.
I agree! When I hit this cutscene I didn't know who to pick: Graha or Ali. Even after seeing all the cutsecenes, I don't know who I'd pick to keep with me between the two
Graha and Alisaie are the ones who hold the Wol up even higher than the others most likely. They both have a sort of hero worship tendency towards them. It’s honestly really cute when that’s on display.
in ShB as well we see how angry we are over the plight of those on the First, how helpless we feel at the start. and then the journal entry after you defeat Vauthry....just ouch. it talks about how everything you did was for nothing, and now YOU'RE the reason the Light is back. like it hurts so good. the look on your face is one of just pure misery and Ardbert understands how you feel. Alisaie cares so deeply for you (hell they all do, she's just the most emotional of the bunch) and G'raha was your friend all the way back in CT. They both have shared experiences not unlike what you've been through and they can relate to you QwQ
They were also the first to came up to us when Zenos was possessing our body and came back to the camp. Also the game make no obvious hiding that out of all the Scion, Alisaie and Graha become quick friend. And their 2 solo duties are with each other as well!! It just amazing
Really digging the Dragon Age chill-at-the-camp-and-chat/romance-with-your-comrades vibes this scene brought. Only wish they happened more throughout the story.

I think so too. It’s the same back during his talk before Mt Gulg too. His *sigh* is just a little more erm…. Passionate? Again- could be bias, but it could also be a VC thing, their style - lots of variables to consider. Bottom line- the actors did so well! I listen to these lines in English and Japanese.

My adventurer plate says "Urianger is my dad" for a reason, lol. He's my favorite scion bar none, and I hope he gets more of a spotlight in the future.
I have always had in my heart believed that Alisae and Alphinaud was the WOL closest friends of the scions and I love how its conveyed through these scenes.
In sense, they are. Both of them, along with G’raha place you in the highest regard, Alphinaud pretty much being with you the most since the beginning of your journey. He’s the little brother that we’ve all come to love and by far, he’s the one that’s shown to be the closest to you out of all the Scions.
@@AdeptKing Pay attention to Y'shtola, whenever she shows her emotion it is always for the WoL. Due to her worry, or because someone else attacks the WoL's character. This is shown best in Shadowbringers when you first meet her again on the First, she is holding back tears at having seen you again. It has been 5 years for her, and it all comes rushing to her. Then when you are over flowing with light aether she is in a true panic at finding a way to help you. She cares about the WoL very deeply.
Y'shtola: Did you so grossly offend every single deity in a past life that they saw fit to place a curse upon your soul? Me, a wow refugee having killed literal gods: *nervous sweating* Maybe...?
I picked Y’shtola because I didn’t think she’d actually show up, but her genuine concern was surprising. Also her callback to the Night’s Blessed made me glad I’m a DRK main in these… drk times
Always made the most sense to me to pick Estinien because he's generally cold and distant, so any opportunity to talk to him just makes more sense from a dialogue perspective. I main Dark Knight as well, so a lot of the scenes in the game just flow well when you have two "silent" characters like a Dragoon and Dark Knight, while harkening back to FF4 as well. Anytime you get some emotion out of characters like Estinien just feels better, where nearly everybody else on the cast is constantly expressing themselves to you. Shadowbringers main theme is probably my favorite in the game, but a lot of the remixes aren't as good, so picking Estinien is almost always accompanied by Dragonsong, and every composition of Dragonsong is good.
I chose him for the same reason, we get so little personal time with him and I wanted to see what would lead him to seek us out, as the most taciturn of our WoL's friends. Also I play a pretty fem!elezen, if I tilt my head and squint enough, maybe it can look like the start of a date. 😅

If you go back to the Night Blessed camp after beating Vauthry, a few of the NPCs say they've never seen Y'shtola be so grief-stricken or panicked when she went back to camp to see if she could find a cure for the WoL
So I love that Eistinen is the only one to enter your room. Even if only for a moment to jump out a window. Also after watching all of these I realized something I already knew. Man I love G'raha. He's such a good boy
Alphi didn't visit because he wanted to ask for a favour or offer help. He visited because he realised he did wrong by you. While the others are begging you to place your trust in them, Alphi already has that trust and he knows it. He is thankful for our trust in him and he knows that he mustn't take this trust for granted. And in return, Alphi trusts you. He trusts that - whatever you do - you will make the right decision. There is no need to ask you not to be reckless with your life, to seek help, to accept help or to keep your friends in line. This mutual (and EARNED) trust between the WoL and Alphi is one of the many reasons why he is my favourite character.
Alphinaud's character growth is easily one of the best parts of FF XIV overall. You watch it happen. You didn't blame him for what happened with the Braves, and even though he was 'using you', you still cared or him as a friend and you stayed at his side. He finally sees that or what it is and grows from there.
My boy is the deuteragonist of the series. IMO the bonds forged in HW stand much stronger than the others. The WoL, Alphi, Estinien, and Ysolde forged a group to end that war one way or another, and at the end Alphi and the WoL fought Nidhogg not only to do that, but also to save one friend after losing another.
I was a little upset when Urianger were not a choice since he's in the moon with the rabbits. I'd like to believe that speech he had with you after tailing him from behind is his heart to heart conversation should he be a choice in this section .
I chose G'raha when this happened in game, and looking back at all these I'm really glad I did. His encounter even rewatching it made me the most emotional.
G'raha's "Sleep well, my friend" is the very final words I was looking for in all of this. A simple statement, but one that is nice to hear. Feels more... Personal
oh man, Alisaie with the foreshadowing there. Picked her and now see even more about her in retrospect having completed the game. I do love getting to see what everyone had to say, and get so much feels how much all the scions care about our character.
Now I imagine if any of the other scions had this option, and selected the WoL they would get an emotional cutscene with only nodding and hand gestures
I picked Thancred since he's been with you since the beginning if you went with Ul'Dah! Not only that, but it further establishes how much of a bro he really is. How protective he is over you, which is shown during ARR when he beats himself up over not being able to save you from Ifrit, how he saves you and the others from the Warriors of Darkness, etc.
How he is the first to make the sacrifice in Ultima Thule as well, shouting out "survive!" to everyone and opening the way that lead to the win in the first place.
My head Conan is that they all came to visit my warrior of light one by one while my wol is trying to get some zzz in. Like every time someone knocks on the door she’s like “who the f&&k is it now.” But is happy that they came by.
I LOVE how before opening the door, you see the side of their faces and chins. But for G'raha, you see he fumbling about with his hands and is shifting in place. A reflect of his time as Exarch~

I picked Alphinaud if only because he's basically been there with us the whole time. Everyone else had gone off to do their own thing at one point or another, so I figured I'd give him my ear at that late hour.
So glad I picked Estinien first, I was laughing so much. Now it’s ever funnier because he’s the only one wearing different clothing. That exposed v neck shirt with leather pants LOL
Honestly my first pick was Thancred, because out of the choices, he's the one I'd ship with my WoL, but I rushed back to watch the Unending. 💙 Really loved how deep all of them were, especially Alisae and Y'shtola's genuine concern for WoL's well-being. Estinien's just made my brain go brrr the first time, because it just seemed so...like canon ship content. 🤣 watching it over, I can really appreciate that he just knows we understand the man wants some real alone time. Like, yeah, sure, Estinien, you can use my window to escape whenever you need, buddy. ...somewhat sad Alisae didn't bring snacks, but the twins brought snacks to Estinien, though.
I can’t decide which is better, but I was somewhat hoping that, like Estenian, we would have a chance to see everyone in more casual clothes, or at least garments more suitable for bed. Cause I doubt that sleeping in their typical clothes would be comfortable.

I didn't think they would have cutscenes for each. So I just picked who I thought would be at the door. Picked Graha because that scene reminds me of the first with Ardbert. If it was a "choose your favorite" moment, then I may have chosen differently, but Graha is definitely up there. Maybe it was by design that you chose who you were expecting (the person who you thought cared the most) and they are very similar choices.
Does Y'shtola knows that WOL are Azem? This joke of hers about past life and then "forgive me, that was in poor taste, i recall what happened in Amaurot".
G'raha and Alisaie doing their jobs of making me vulnerable and emotional. Personally, these two characters have aided me attempting to develop a more positive inner voice, one more accepting of the self. I had to do a coin toss on whether or not I'd do Alisaie or G'raha first, and then watch the other one(s) in the inn afterwards. It landed on G'raha, and I'm far from complaining. It gave me another more introspective and matured look at the Exarch he once was, while still retaining the awkward, but genuine self as he has become now. It was very welcome, and his optimism and appreciation of life is always so heartfelt. (And the devs just couldn't help but reuse the arm-rubbing animation of the Exarch at lvl 77, could they? ;) ) Surprsingly, the Estinien and Y'shtola ones were also quite lovely! I really liked all of the musical cues they had playing for each of the Scions. (Although I'm not sure what the ones for the Twins were.) Edit: GAH WHY DO I TORTURE MYSELF. I watched Alisaie's again, and I just- "It wasn't a promise just for him. It was a promise for you, too." I am BLUBBERING.
G'aha: I fear this may be the last quiet night we have to talk for quite some time. Amy my WoL: Bruh it's not gonna be quiet if you come to my room. Boutta change your name to G'raha Nunh, if you know what I mean.
Oh why are you so ADORABLE G'raha!? Why do I love this silly gang of misfits so much!? All of them...I've never been this attatched to a group of FF main characters before...
This is how I see: Alphinaud: He is the friend that thanks us for overcoming together everything we did until that point and that wishes he would reach goals like ours, not out of envy but as true admiration to our attitude and willing to help them. Thus why mentioned what happened in garlemald. Alisae: Is like our big sister that worries for us and that we make sure we do are not hotheads like her and jump in action just because. The least she want is seeing us ina peril or hurt like what happened with Zenos. Thancred: He is like awkward father figure that keeps thinking on the important people we are proctecting but that even at times feels powerless to do anything. He see us as that one that will knock sense into him to remember why we are doing this. Y'sthola: I swear she is like our mother figure asking us for our well being not only physicially but in all senses... for our mood, for aether in ff case and even as person... because of what has happened in Shadowbringers. She just do not want anything of that to be repeated. Graha Tia: He is not only a friend but that little brother that admires us and everything we did and the experiences we got together... Like the others he is worried for the burden of our shoulders... but he also wishes to relieve us from them by sharing them and even consider him the companion we can be there in the most direst moments. Finally Estinien is like our partner in crime which shared the same experience not only now during our time in the Dragonsong War and that even thought he feels included as a friend like all others, except, Alphinaud, he trust them and puts that trust with his power... for our sake and our goals. I really love these well put scenes :)
This reminded me of the Flanoir optional scenes in the old Tales of Symphonia for gamecube, where you'd have each of your companions knock on the door in the night until you can choose one to go out to the balcony to speak to (also this is where you could get Kratos back in the party if you declined all of them and waited again, he'd show up)
in some way reminds me of Breath of Fire II when we talk with our friends and later we supposed to choose who we sacrifies to gain the most powerful magic from Dragon clan (and later we discovers that magic is the power to revive all of them)

I got Y'shtola via a die roll and I gotta say, my feelings towards her changed ever-so-slightly
She always felt kinda aloof to me, but this moment felt so... tender, especially the little voice crack in "it was... a horror beyond description"
this expansion really went all out when it came to reinforcing the notion the scions are more than allies and coworkers, they are our _friends_
The VAs really knocked their performances out of the park. In the G'raha version of the scene, after he says the line about your victories coming at considerable cost to yourself, in the pause before the next line, there was a quiet, barely noticeable exhale of emotional stress. It's so subtle that think I'm only hearing it now in this video because I'm watching it with my noise-canceling headphones on, because I for sure didn't catch it when I played through the scene myself with normal speakers. But hearing made it now makes it clear the VA was really putting himself emotionally into G'raha's shoes while delivering the lines. It's all so well done.
Yshtola is a stoic who expresses her emotions and concerns in subtle ways from her chosen actions to the waivering of her voice at certain times despite not looking shocked or effected. Kudo's to her Va for that. This is the first time she truely opens herself up to us to make sure nothing is left unsaid. I love that she has kept the Night's Blessed mannerisms and rituals, saying goodbye to us with their gesture and their own phrase for farewell's

You want interesting proof of that? During a Bozja solo fight you have an option to call in your strongest allies...or your best of friends. So NPC's will fight alongside you. When you choose your best of friends the Scions are summoned, Ryne even shows up showing just how close she got to you!

I picked Thancred, he was a meh character to me until ShB, but his father/daughter relationship with Ryne and him dealing with Minfilia being gone elevated him to one of my favorites.

I liked him when he started to pick up the pace in HW but that was short. During SB he had little to no screen time, at least none I can remember.

Feel the exact same about him. Not that I picked him, but he's definitely one of my favorites now. But... who isn't a favorite, now? Ironically Y'shtola might be the weakest character to me now lol

Like Bae wulf mentioned, he does not have as much 1 to 1 time in EW like Urianger who shined quite nicely yet just the bits of personal dilemma we got to see with him from ShB had already made him more closer as if family. Especially the box quests which I think are tied
I went with Thancred too. I started in Ul'dah, so he was the first Scion for me. I think for my WoL he was the right person to come by.
Loved G’raha’s and it was my first choice! His words hit deep- not just in context for the story- but as a person battling depression and anxiety- how BADLY I wish someone did this. In a moment all bravado and lofty titles are stripped away in the wake of his words and you’re just a person again with vulnerabilities and weaknesses that he’s willing to help your shoulder that, so you can face the next day- no longer alone in your feelings. With the promise of sharing more happy memories with him as well. He’s willing to stand by your side through the good and the bad. However which way you read it (platonic or romantic) everyone needs someone like this in their lives. Someone who never forgets that you’re just a human being.
I chose Graha too and was not disappointed at all. It made me cry as I watched.
That's the perfect way to put it, and I completely agree. Perhaps that's part of the reason those words touched me so much. It's a reminder that even when you put on a strong face, you are still seen and recognized for the efforts you put forth, and accepted either way.

G'raha is the most canon one imo, he would absolutely come talk to you and also he, as someone who saved his own world at great peril to his body, just gets it. He's not like "don't do this" he's like "Yo whatever you gotta do I got your back like lets half up the necessary sacrifice."
They all have really great excuses to come visit you, G'raha, Alisaie, and Alphinaud are the ones I most think actually would though.

I think Alisae is more canon, just because we’ve shared a similar scenario many times before in SB and ShB. It makes perfect sense she’d come again to talk about it.
But I liked Y’Shtola the most. It’s incredibly rare for WoL to get an intimate bonding moment with her. The scene means so much for our bond with her, that we sometimes forget even exists in the first place. Our proud mother, lol.

Estinien was going to make a move on the WoL, but being socially awkward, he lost his nerve at the last moment and tried to play it cool by Dragoon leaping out the window.

You know despite all of these scenes I think it’s not a mistake that g’raha and alisaie’s are the most thematically potent. G’raha’s is a wonderful callback to both you time on the first and in arr and serves not only to prove how far you’ve come in regards to the dangers of the trials you face but also to remind you that though it may feel as if you are just a weapon for people to wield in the face of hardship, there are those that genuinely care for you as a person. A theme which is obviously played upon a lot amongst the scions but it strikes particularly hard with g’raha considering he was in a position of power to do so and didn’t anyways.
As for her alisaie, hers serves as a confirmation that you are not invincible. I personally already knew that after the whole duty with fighting as teh imperial solider bc I seriously thought the wol was gonna die and we would continue the story in the life stream, but I’m not sure how that scene affected everyone else. In any case the wol is most certainly not invincible to emotions and wanting to do dangerous things, this all of us know but it feels so good to see another scion know it too. That she was just as scared as we are. Their is a certain type of camaraderie in seeing someone else feels the same way as you and alisae’s character captures it spectacularly. (Think back to when teh scions we’re being called and she was reasonably freaking the fuck out as most of us were also doing, in an odd way it felt good to have our emotions represented in an actual character)
I say it is no mistake that these two scenes are so potent and I think it’s because these two are the closest canonically to the wol. Their the ones that will biker over what you want, the ones who immediately knew something was wrong when zenos was in your body and the ones to run over first when they saw who they thought was you coming back after disappearing.
These scenes hit the hardest because these characters understand you the most.

I agree! When I hit this cutscene I didn't know who to pick: Graha or Ali. Even after seeing all the cutsecenes, I don't know who I'd pick to keep with me between the two
Graha and Alisaie are the ones who hold the Wol up even higher than the others most likely. They both have a sort of hero worship tendency towards them. It’s honestly really cute when that’s on display.

in ShB as well we see how angry we are over the plight of those on the First, how helpless we feel at the start. and then the journal entry after you defeat Vauthry....just ouch. it talks about how everything you did was for nothing, and now YOU'RE the reason the Light is back. like it hurts so good. the look on your face is one of just pure misery and Ardbert understands how you feel.
Alisaie cares so deeply for you (hell they all do, she's just the most emotional of the bunch) and G'raha was your friend all the way back in CT. They both have shared experiences not unlike what you've been through and they can relate to you QwQ
They were also the first to came up to us when Zenos was possessing our body and came back to the camp. Also the game make no obvious hiding that out of all the Scion, Alisaie and Graha become quick friend. And their 2 solo duties are with each other as well!! It just amazing
Really digging the Dragon Age chill-at-the-camp-and-chat/romance-with-your-comrades vibes this scene brought. Only wish they happened more throughout the story.
The fans are gonna have a field day with some of these, particularly G'raha's

Again- could be bias, but it could also be a VC thing, their style - lots of variables to consider. Bottom line- the actors did so well! I listen to these lines in English and Japanese.

I have always had in my heart believed that Alisae and Alphinaud was the WOL closest friends of the scions and I love how its conveyed through these scenes.
I mean, they kind of are... One of the first people we ever met in Eorzea. At the beginning of everything.
The twins and G'raha are the ones that definitely show their affection for the Wol the most.
In sense, they are. Both of them, along with G’raha place you in the highest regard, Alphinaud pretty much being with you the most since the beginning of your journey. He’s the little brother that we’ve all come to love and by far, he’s the one that’s shown to be the closest to you out of all the Scions.
I saw them as our younger siblings.
@@AdeptKing Pay attention to Y'shtola, whenever she shows her emotion it is always for the WoL. Due to her worry, or because someone else attacks the WoL's character. This is shown best in Shadowbringers when you first meet her again on the First, she is holding back tears at having seen you again. It has been 5 years for her, and it all comes rushing to her. Then when you are over flowing with light aether she is in a true panic at finding a way to help you. She cares about the WoL very deeply.
Y'shtola: Did you so grossly offend every single deity in a past life that they saw fit to place a curse upon your soul?

I picked Y’shtola because I didn’t think she’d actually show up, but her genuine concern was surprising. Also her callback to the Night’s Blessed made me glad I’m a DRK main in these… drk times
Always made the most sense to me to pick Estinien because he's generally cold and distant, so any opportunity to talk to him just makes more sense from a dialogue perspective. I main Dark Knight as well, so a lot of the scenes in the game just flow well when you have two "silent" characters like a Dragoon and Dark Knight, while harkening back to FF4 as well. Anytime you get some emotion out of characters like Estinien just feels better, where nearly everybody else on the cast is constantly expressing themselves to you.
Shadowbringers main theme is probably my favorite in the game, but a lot of the remixes aren't as good, so picking Estinien is almost always accompanied by Dragonsong, and every composition of Dragonsong is good.

If you go back to the Night Blessed camp after beating Vauthry, a few of the NPCs say they've never seen Y'shtola be so grief-stricken or panicked when she went back to camp to see if she could find a cure for the WoL
So I love that Eistinen is the only one to enter your room. Even if only for a moment to jump out a window.
Also after watching all of these I realized something I already knew. Man I love G'raha. He's such a good boy

Also 6:20 it was because of Thancred's stubbornness that we could roam about Ultima Thule.
Alphi didn't visit because he wanted to ask for a favour or offer help.
He visited because he realised he did wrong by you.
While the others are begging you to place your trust in them, Alphi already has that trust and he knows it. He is thankful for our trust in him and he knows that he mustn't take this trust for granted. And in return, Alphi trusts you. He trusts that - whatever you do - you will make the right decision. There is no need to ask you not to be reckless with your life, to seek help, to accept help or to keep your friends in line. This mutual (and EARNED) trust between the WoL and Alphi is one of the many reasons why he is my favourite character.
Alphinaud's character growth is easily one of the best parts of FF XIV overall. You watch it happen. You didn't blame him for what happened with the Braves, and even though he was 'using you', you still cared or him as a friend and you stayed at his side. He finally sees that or what it is and grows from there.
My boy is the deuteragonist of the series. IMO the bonds forged in HW stand much stronger than the others. The WoL, Alphi, Estinien, and Ysolde forged a group to end that war one way or another, and at the end Alphi and the WoL fought Nidhogg not only to do that, but also to save one friend after losing another.

I chose G'raha when this happened in game, and looking back at all these I'm really glad I did. His encounter even rewatching it made me the most emotional.
G'raha's "Sleep well, my friend" is the very final words I was looking for in all of this.

I picked Thancred since he's been with you since the beginning if you went with Ul'Dah! Not only that, but it further establishes how much of a bro he really is. How protective he is over you, which is shown during ARR when he beats himself up over not being able to save you from Ifrit, how he saves you and the others from the Warriors of Darkness, etc.
How he is the first to make the sacrifice in Ultima Thule as well, shouting out "survive!" to everyone and opening the way that lead to the win in the first place.
My head Conan is that they all came to visit my warrior of light one by one while my wol is trying to get some zzz in. Like every time someone knocks on the door she’s like “who the f&&k is it now.” But is happy that they came by.

I LOVE how before opening the door, you see the side of their faces and chins.
But for G'raha, you see he fumbling about with his hands and is shifting in place. A reflect of his time as Exarch~

Honestly my first pick was Thancred, because out of the choices, he's the one I'd ship with my WoL, but I rushed back to watch the Unending. 💙 Really loved how deep all of them were, especially Alisae and Y'shtola's genuine concern for WoL's well-being. Estinien's just made my brain go brrr the first time, because it just seemed so...like canon ship content. 🤣 watching it over, I can really appreciate that he just knows we understand the man wants some real alone time. Like, yeah, sure, Estinien, you can use my window to escape whenever you need, buddy.

I can’t decide which is better, but I was somewhat hoping that, like Estenian, we would have a chance to see everyone in more casual clothes, or at least garments more suitable for bed. Cause I doubt that sleeping in their typical clothes would be comfortable.
Estinien was already modeled in those clothes in heavensward so they didn’t need to do much work for it

I didn't think they would have cutscenes for each. So I just picked who I thought would be at the door. Picked Graha because that scene reminds me of the first with Ardbert. If it was a "choose your favorite" moment, then I may have chosen differently, but Graha is definitely up there. Maybe it was by design that you chose who you were expecting (the person who you thought cared the most) and they are very similar choices.

G'raha and Alisaie doing their jobs of making me vulnerable and emotional. Personally, these two characters have aided me attempting to develop a more positive inner voice, one more accepting of the self. I had to do a coin toss on whether or not I'd do Alisaie or G'raha first, and then watch the other one(s) in the inn afterwards. It landed on G'raha, and I'm far from complaining. It gave me another more introspective and matured look at the Exarch he once was, while still retaining the awkward, but genuine self as he has become now. It was very welcome, and his optimism and appreciation of life is always so heartfelt.
(And the devs just couldn't help but reuse the arm-rubbing animation of the Exarch at lvl 77, could they? ;) )
Surprsingly, the Estinien and Y'shtola ones were also quite lovely! I really liked all of the musical cues they had playing for each of the Scions. (Although I'm not sure what the ones for the Twins were.)

This is how I see:
Alphinaud: He is the friend that thanks us for overcoming together everything we did until that point and that wishes he would reach goals like ours, not out of envy but as true admiration to our attitude and willing to help them. Thus why mentioned what happened in garlemald.
Alisae: Is like our big sister that worries for us and that we make sure we do are not hotheads like her and jump in action just because. The least she want is seeing us ina peril or hurt like what happened with Zenos.
Thancred: He is like awkward father figure that keeps thinking on the important people we are proctecting but that even at times feels powerless to do anything. He see us as that one that will knock sense into him to remember why we are doing this.
Y'sthola: I swear she is like our mother figure asking us for our well being not only physicially but in all senses... for our mood, for aether in ff case and even as person... because of what has happened in Shadowbringers. She just do not want anything of that to be repeated.
Graha Tia: He is not only a friend but that little brother that admires us and everything we did and the experiences we got together... Like the others he is worried for the burden of our shoulders... but he also wishes to relieve us from them by sharing them and even consider him the companion we can be there in the most direst moments.
Finally Estinien is like our partner in crime which shared the same experience not only now during our time in the Dragonsong War and that even thought he feels included as a friend like all others, except, Alphinaud, he trust them and puts that trust with his power... for our sake and our goals.

This reminded me of the Flanoir optional scenes in the old Tales of Symphonia for gamecube, where you'd have each of your companions knock on the door in the night until you can choose one to go out to the balcony to speak to (also this is where you could get Kratos back in the party if you declined all of them and waited again, he'd show up)

in some way reminds me of Breath of Fire II when we talk with our friends and later we supposed to choose who we sacrifies to gain the most powerful magic from Dragon clan (and later we discovers that magic is the power to revive all of them)
