Sometimes I think you’re too trusting of vendors 😂 Podcast idea: have an art historian or art restorer (so many on UA-cam!) come on to talk about how to spot authentic vintage paintings, originals vs reproductions, etc at flea markets. Would be a cool concept to expand to other areas of decor too: authentic MCM furniture, for example, or authentic Persian rugs. I think you and your followers would all learn something!
100% agree. theres so many fakes out there now that are so hard to tell apart from genuinely old art. Sellers buy gorgeous frames from Mexico that are distressed and made to look old, and factory reproduction oil paintings (that have impasto and mimic the real deal) and do all the things to make them appear to be much older than they really are.
This is an unfortunate truth to vintage flea markets. I have had my eyebrows raised when Macenna ( and Drew sometimes) say they bought an antique item for under $50. I'm Canadian and at first I just thought items were cheaper or more plentiful in the U.S.
Don’t get me started on this Olive Atelier place they are obsessed with right now. If you believe those gigantic vases etc are vintage and came from Turkey you are insane!
You can make the front room into a library! With a pretty set of seats to read!!! Walls of books?!? I love that idea! Also I love to see Romeo and Drew in the vlogs! I love the friendship between Drew and you. A set of vlogs from Texas with him on it, that would be wonderful!
When I saw the pink coat Drew’s channel, I thought that’s not quite Macenna , but seeing you here and your lemon yellow sweater and your navy dishes, you really are bringing color back into your life for spring 💕
California seems to be inspiring you to be colourful. It’s also fun to have two really different feels in each state you live in. Blessed to have the opportunity to have 2 amazing homes. You’ve worked very hard for it.
I will always be grateful to Drew because he introduced me to Macenna. The diy challenge during the pandemic was the first video I saw and I have been a fan (nay, a whole A/C unit!) ever since!❤
That table is stunning, I hope you purchased that. What a fun vlog!! I often thought how fascinating it would be to have the owner of Olive Ateliers for your podcast, talking about origin\history of the pieces and uses in decor design etc.
Omg 27:44 the cabinet in the bathroom zone, the one you guys were saying would look good in a bathroom, would actually look STUNNING in your living room behind the couch, by your desk back wall Macenna!!
I have to say, loved the budget podcast episode! Not only was it refreshing, it was incredibly helpful. It helped me wrap my head around the the whole “house Reno/building” project. As someone who is very interested in designing my space, it’s crucial almost to know how much things cost! You and Drew give off the best energy! It’s wholesome to see your friendship on screen :)
The teeny tiny frames that you were looking for....... you're very good with wood, take a frame that you love 💕 and cut it down and make it any size you want 😊 then order your mom's paintings in the size that the frame you ended up with 😁
This was great. I think you and Drew need to do a monthly video where you get together and review/summarize how your month went - like the progress of your projects, new finds, fun things you did, etc.
If anyone didn’t know, and wanted to know, what a hummingbird sounded like, it’s those squeaks and chirps during the haul!! Not used to background noise in Macenna’s vids, so I thought initially it was from my backyard 🤩 I’m sure we’ll hear more thanks to her GORGEOUS garden 🌸🌷
Yay so ready to see Drew on the podcast..You both are truly what friendship is love seeing you both together on each other's videos..I'd love to see Drew come to Texas for a week on vacation that would be epic .Kinsley is a cutie pie such a doll.. Happy Easter to you and your family...I got an old checker board that is over a 100 years old that belonged to my aunt and I got when she passed away..It had belonged to her father and is all wood..I also got a lot of galvanized buckets, watering can and pails also belonged to my uncle that was gifted to me when my aunt died..
I often picnicked with my kids in our park like yard, they loved it. When you have children you could have beautiful awesome Easter egg hunts in your lovely yard. ❤
The chess set is so precious. I think you could diy a repair on the chipped bishop. Like maybe make a mold with the other ones and try to maybe create a fill with resin or other material with the broken one. Either match it up or go with something different like gold specks floating or just gold like kintsugi style
Macenna please do a bloopers compilation!!! You really leave a smile on our face long after we’ve finished watching an episode. ♥️♥️♥️ looking forward to all your upcoming happy thrift hunting
Truly, I know I've said this before, but so happy you're posting! I've been out of work on medical leave bc of a horrible surgery and recovery. You truly brighten my day! Thank you!
Jeanine and Ferntella, I hope you both heal beautifully and quickly and no pain. God bless you both! Love you McKenna XO, Drew is FUN! He is So Sweet!!
@XO, MaCenna Vlogs getting there! Had a kidney repair with lots of postop complications! You kept me company in the hospital when I couldn't sleep and while at home recovering. You touch lives more than you know! Thank you!
Vicariously enjoying your thrifting so much! We downsized and live in a much smaller house - had to give up so many things so I can’t do any home decor thrifting myself. But that makes me appreciate your trips to flea markets even more.
I bought 10 stunning old books yesterday and as soon as I saw them I was like omg mcenna would love these! Lady wanted 50p a book so I bought them all - got them home & started looking at them & researching them and they were from 1880's so nearly 150 years old 🤩 one was written in French called ' stories from my windmill ' and just instantly thought of you
I love all the lil picture frames!!!..OMG..Drew did a stunning job with that set up..everything looked soo perfectly placed.,yet so natural looking..I love when u two r together!
So, about your art question: after having watched a TON of Baumgartner Restauration videos I can confidently tell you that the nails in the canvas of the Baroque Lady might be original or might just as reliably be replacements put in at some time since it’s creation. In other words: if you really want to know more about the paintings, taking them to an expert is probably the most reliable way to find out 😊 Other than that: awesome video, I’m watching it while cleaning away my own thriftshop haul 😂
@@Lvent67 exactly...why would you want to stay in a guest house, when the neighbour house is the same style...they both have an eye for design and detail, which would make each house unique ☺️
Dear MaCenna, One, no THE best vlog, blog, video of yours and Drew's. You two together are the bomb !!! Your personalities are so compatible. Listening to you discuss decor is entertaining as well as educational . I vote for MaCenna and Drew videos at least once every quarter. You guys just made my day. Love ya's and hugs💞
Watching anything that has to do with Olive Ateliers has my feels all Atelier-ered LOL. I’ve never been but it would be a such a dream come true to go.
I really enjoyed you sharing your kitchen designing jumping off point; I’m very detail-oriented and I really appreciate watching your process. You and Drew have so much of the same energy, the podcast will be fun to watch.
Sooooo jealous of your flea markets and estate sales in America. We don’t have anything similar in Australia. I’d love it if you or your mum could do a demonstration on cleaning ornate frames - especially cleaning the linen liners. Thanks ❤
Wow Drew’s drop is stunning! Wish I was there with y’all to laugh with! You have so much fun together. Those flea markets are awesome too. I am looking forward to watching your podcast! Love you Macenna
Love you 2 together! Actually the 3 of you! You should deffo do more videos and content together. Maybe style each other's room in your houses or a styling sit challenge. That would be fun! ❤
The last furniture piece you showed would be perfect in the entry room of your new home. It is so gorgeous I don’t think I would turn it into a vanity for a bathroom. I would miss the beautiful drawers.
Pasadena is my hometown and going to both flea markets with my parents was a huge part of my childhood… I hated it lol but it’s so awesome seeing some of my favorite UA-camr enjoying it ♥️♥️♥️
Loved this! Soo awesome seeing you and drew walk his olive drop! It warmed my heart to see the excitement over the specific display areas because my job is visual displays, and it feels nice to feel the relatability.
I would love to see a video on how you restore or clean old frames (espacially when there are linen inside) ! By the way, I thought the "little girl" at 12:13 was Sissi, the empress of Austria, but it seems to be a portrait of Madame Rimsky-Korsakov by Franz Xaver Winterhalter (who actually was famous for his paintings of Sissi). Such a good vlog ! 😍
Congratulation Drew, It is amazing. You did a wonderful display. I am so proud of you. You have grown so much since the beginning. I love your videos. Keep up the great decor...
Have a little games table between two little chairs maybe near the window of your new dining room. Would be so cute and I just saw architectural digest do a small games table in a corner of a dining room
U2 are so cute together! Can’t wait to hear the podcast and what y’all talk about Drew has done a beautiful job so far of his renovations! I really feel like you to complement each other because for me U2 have two totally different Decour styles but yet you both like similar things, so I think you complement each other! I hope in the podcast y’all talk about how the two of you met because I see this a friendship as a happy accident lol rather an intentional. Once again, Drew did a beautiful job, how much did you actually end up taking home McKenna ……… lol
Love the old sideboard, great for the dining room but just as beautiful as a vanity, hope you got it! I can imagine estate sale shopping in Texas with your mum and Drew... that would be crazy! ❤🦘
Oh my gosh. I get so excited to see your videos and where you go. I didn’t know PCC had a flea market. I use to go there. You found some cool stuff. Can’t wait to check out my closest flea market. Thanks for sharing.
You could turn the front room into an art gallery/ library for all your spare art and books. I'd put a couple of comfortable chairs in front of the fireplace with a games table and the chess set.
"Not so imaginary pop-up shop happening soon!" 👀😀 Soo exciting! Loved this vlog and seeing the items you found. I'm also excited about the upcoming podcast episode with Drew coming out on the 19th!
Wow...just a challenging moment, so many gorgeous, interesting, needed things 😮...and you never know what you are going to see...and the wood and arts in the last part of the video was an other challenge...so many well made cool things...🤗
Can't wait for Macenna to invite Drew to visit the cottage in Texas 😊
Yes! a Texas Vlog W/ Drew. You can show us all around 👏🏻

No better video than MaCenna and Drew together. Besties shopping and bouncing ideas off of each other. The Dynamic Dual. ❤
Those woven loungers would be amazing in your backyard with the brick.

Ok…seeing today’s vlog has only solidified that you and Drew should collaborate on your front room that you’re stumped on 👍😎

Congratulations to Drew for this fun project and beautiful spaces and moments he created!
