Macenna, I know you’ll appreciate this: I had a man encounter me at my place of business, he asked me if he could speak to the manager. I smiled back, and asked him how I could help. He paused, looked aggravated and said firmly, “No, I want to speak to the MAN IN CHARGE!”
I continued to smile (with effort) and said, “Sir, I AM the man in charge!”
    🙄😂💪

I’m 33 weeks pregnant, and the entire pregnancy I’ve been very conscious to not *only* feed my brain with baby content- so to combat becoming obsessive (lol) I’ve really dove into house/styling/diy type content! Our styles are SO different, I love mid century modern, 70’s and 80’s styles, white walls lol but I still love to see how you style things and love to see someone passionate about what they do! I’ve been watching your videos almost from recent and now I’m going through older once since I just recently found your channel. Just wanted to stop by and say I love your content, it’s very relaxing and upbeat and positive and I am so thankful I found your channel!

Macenna those are amazing loungers! If you can easily remove one of the arms from the lounger you could put it on the other so each has one arm on opposite sides... then the loungers could be pushed together sometimes to create a sweet spot for two.

Firstly, the loungers are gorgeous! Secondly, I'm glad you stood your ground with the vendor.
That happened to me when I was car shopping and had my boyfriend with me. We walked in the door and only my boyfriend was greeted.
When we first sat down to negotiate our salesman began directing his comment to my boyfriend. I immediately stopped him and said, "I'm the one buying the car, it's my money. He's just the chauffeur." 😂
I did some hard-hitting negotiation that day while my boyfriend remained silent the entire time.
    Down with misogyny!

We own a Sailboat ⛵️ & all the woodwork inside & out. Teak is amazing outdoor wood but I do have a recommendation. Don’t let them get grey & discolored. It’s a ton of work to get teak looking like your lounger’s. Keep them covered, light sand & teak oil & teak conditioner every spring & they will last “Forever”. We have a lot of teak in & out of our boat and all the teak that is in the outer cabin & handrails I made covers for them ( it’s a lot less upkeep having the covers I highly recommend them ) ⛵️ 😁

Her apartment was the lower right side of the building and her living room overlooked the huge front porch. She bought a 36" round teak table and two armchairs so she could eat al fresco or just sit and watch the world go by in the evening. She bought good quality teak oil and put it on every year. It's been over 10 years and still going strong and still the pretty teak color. And that was even with it being left outside in 2 upstate NY winters after she moved back north!

One thing I learned about garage sales about 25 years ago, and I'll bet that goes for flea markets as well, is that the buyer should not dress fancy. The sellers will look at you and figure you can afford it if they jack up the price. That is especially true in cases where the items are not priced - the price changes depending on how the seller feels at the moment. Also, we used to set our automatic sprinklers very early in the morning, maybe 4am or 5am, because we were told that was the best time to water.

For your back patio, you can look up DIY backyard games, that would be a cool vid to see you making those backyard games in your style. You definitely need another umbrella, hang fairy lights on the underside and it could look so amazing.

Those loungers are gorgeous and they fit perfectly in that space. I almost think they are kind of neat being a little different with one having arms and wheels and the other not.
And I loved the story you told about the gentleman selling them. Hopefully after that encounter he will change his way of interacting with customers. I can't even count how many times I have been dismissed or overlooked simply because I was with a man, even though I was the purchaser. My mom had a very strong personality so I learned from the best, as I see you have as well.

Good on you for standing up for yourself! And getting those chaise loungers at such a deal! They're beautiful.

It’s so funny hearing you talk about this because I just experienced something similar when buying a car with my husband. I am the one who did the research, found the car and does most of our finances. The sales man would look at my husband when he asked questions and when I asked questions he almost seemed annoyed. This honestly happened at a few different lots we visited. I think after I got married I notice it a lot more now

The trunk had thick leather straps (above the writing,at 28:24) for handles, they lay flat then curve out so that you can put your fingers underneath to carry it. I have my grandfather’s trunk that he used to come here from Germany a hundred years ago and the sides look exactly the same.

I watch your channel, my husband listens while looking at his phone. Your story time made his ears perk up! He actually looked up as you were sharing your market experience and actually had an opinion about it! 😂 We have 4 kids that aspire to be self-made, like you. Self-advocating is so important! My husband Brett was like, "Yes! That's right!" So glad you stood up for yourself. We love you. Keep inspiring us! Tip* Flatbread will crisp more evenly if the heat can circulate around it. Try throwing a heavy duty stainless steel baking/cooling rack onto the sheet pan, spray with olive oil, place your amazing recipe on top of that to bake!😋

Clematis would be really beautiful on your gazebo. It’s a gorgeous plant 🌱. Flowers 🌺 summer to fall, comes in a variety of colors, easy to grow, it’s a perennial so comes back bigger & better every year, & it’s not a thick heavy vine, so it will not break your gazebo/trellis.

That used to happen to me a lot. Went into Lowe’s one time with my husband and I was telling the guy at the construction desk what I needed and he turned to my husband and started asking him questions instead of me. Hubs looked at him and said I have no idea … she’s the one doing this not me. He very grudgingly turned to me and asked for someone different to help with my order. It is infuriating!
