I often stay at the inlaws place in the Yuexiu district in Guangzhou, often the companies that deal with mail/parcels start taking over the streets after 10pm when many shops close up for the day. I can hear them from my bedroom window if I leave it open, the noise of people moving stuff around, taking and sending off deliveries. About 25 years ago, there were thieves in the streets of China. They would quietly put their hands into other people's backpacks. But now, those thieves have disappeared. I think there are two reasons: (1) The camera greatly improves the efficiency of the police in solving crimes, and almost no thief can escape the pursuit; (2) Ordinary Chinese are getting richer and richer. When everyone has enough food to eat, there is no need to steal.
Much like Hong Kong since after WWII...the night time normal activities. The street food 大牌檔! The night time is less hot to work in, to eat in, to enjoy. But Hong Kong streets and roads were much better managed. Though I don't know Hong Kong now.

I will try to visit it in the near future. My father always said he was born in Panyu Village/District and "Stone lake street" 石 湖 街? is there such a street there still?

The people of the country are very hardworking! ❤
Wow 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. Thanks for the information 👍 . Looking forward to your next episode 😂. Missed Guangzhou alots .
It is sad some channels try to paint the picture of people living in harsh conditions. This is more what anyone would like to see everyone is trying to keep up with the times. Whatever it is I hope everyone lives well.
Just discovered your channel and immediately subscribed. Excellent video, and Guangzhou looks a lot like Bangkok at night (I lived there for more than a decade) - busy, incredibly safe and fascinating. Looking forward to watching all your videos :)
I think China is the safest country in the world
Not as long there's an English Language teacher called "Teacher Paul John Farrell" from England. is there prowling the streets.
About 25 years ago, there were thieves in the streets of China. They would quietly put their hands into other people's backpacks. But now, those thieves have
disappeared.
I think there are two reasons:
(1) The camera greatly improves the efficiency of the police in solving crimes, and almost no thief can escape the pursuit;
(2) Ordinary Chinese are getting richer and richer. When everyone has enough food to eat, there is no need to steal.
hands down

Thanks for sharing, Cinthia! You're right! Those people keep the cities running but with little or no recognition.
Much like Hong Kong since after WWII...the night time normal activities. The street food 大牌檔! The night time is less hot to work in, to eat in, to enjoy.
But Hong Kong streets and roads were much better managed.
Though I don't know Hong Kong now.
Thanks!
the caption says "Speaking Mandarin" when she's speaking Cantonese
yeah, i don't get it, clearly she knows the difference or is it some translation software messing up.
Its like the caption says "Speaking in American", but actually they are "Speaking in English". 😁
@@merrick6484 not the same comparison bro
@@ck3908Yes maybe it’s a translation problem.
She does explain that under her subtitle description
Hello Cinthia, so happy to see GZ at night, that city where you are is very near from my hometown, Huadu, I just came back to US from China, visiting my parents, I’ve been in China for 6 months, I visited Chimelong Park in GZ, it was so nice. Hope can meet you next year when I go China.
The fact that the convenience store just trusts you will pay before you leave and it's not a high tech Amazon store. And the fact that two girls feel safe enough to go out at 4am.
It's all about preference, U$ led west much prefer the freedom to vote, that is it!
Thank you for sharing the look into the nightshift of this city. found it very informative. eg. swapping your ebike battery for a new one. The food market. etc. etc. loved it .
Excellent video! Thank you!
I have been Guangzhou 18 years ago, time flies fast. The food was good, the bus was confusing, the people who working in the restaurant along the street was funny and friendly, from just passing by, they said hello and laugh telling my little brother is cute became we bought the siomay corn everyday from them hahahaha I still remember the uncle's face.
No matter what country you are in, who wakes up wee hours in the morning? Only Chinese entrepreneurs. Wake up early, prepare early and devote all their time and effort just to make ends meet.it’s all about hard work. Harrrrrrd work!!!
Same in Ha Noi, Vietnam. Did it with ex gf many times. Buying fruits and vegetables from early street vendors who just arrived from the fields with loads of goods. Truly simple but amazing experience. :))
In many western countries after sunset, you better stay at home. Safety is freedom .
Travel frequently to China , Thailand or Vietnam & generally these places are quite safe.
Japan and Singapore too

I remember the day I was driving bicycle at night in Beijing when I was studying there. It was lovely times. China is good for living indeed!
2点后就像,吃完一顿饭后的桌面,其实早上就会被打扫的干净整洁。城中村的一天也是会早上保持焕然一新的
I stayed in GZ for around 7 years and did not visit some of these places. I really enjoyed my time there, and this triggered a lot of great memories.
I used to watch old chinese movies as a kid , it has completely changed barring few similarities in urban villages . Everything's just flipped.
are urban villages slums?
@@GL-iv4rw No, the urban village is a kind of community before the urban transformation, when the government demolition, the urban village will be born countless multimillionaires
@@GL-iv4rw On the contrary, urban villages are areas that are not built in urban planning. Local residents build their own houses there. Many migrant workers choose to rent houses in urban villages. Therefore, homeowners in urban villages can become rich just by collecting rent every month.
A big salute to the hardworking people who make the city run.
I hope these people get better job protection and welfare.
感谢您分享另外一面的广州,去了那么多次办公还没真正看到这一面🤘

It is a great city, I lived there before, thank for show it from a locals perspective, your channel can get big, keep up the good work, peace.

Wow so happening in Guangzhou…. Hope to visit
life was similar in many Chinatowns in south east Asia 50 years ago. Some things have changed a lot other things never seem to change. Thanks for this nostalgia trip down memory lane. 🙏
this is not the only town on this planet like this. but that does not matter. it took 25k years for human population to reach 1.6 billion. then it took 80 years to reach 8 billion.
It's cool to see such a quiet GZ. I remember last time I went there it was so crowded, but ofc that's during the day and evening.
Chinese are the most diligent workers in the world. Here in the west, most shops shuts down after 5pm.

a real workers' paradise
Really enjoyed your video. Salute to you and all the people who worked hard to feed their families. Just a kind reminder, don’t try to shot a similar video in other countries, especially here in the States. It’s really dangerous and you may be getting hurt badly. Keep up the good work!❤
did the town seem more crowded than before you left? Cleaner? I think at 4am, we would be more afraid of ghosts than human. I heard quite a few ghosts stories before. I’m still pretty wary of going out after 10pm anywhere. Love your bravery and human concerns for the hard working over night entrepreneurs. Their aspirations are a missing ingredient in many western way of life.
Workers clean every street from 5 to 8 in the morning
@@luoxu5647A lot of workers sweep/clean in day time as well.
Great video, and beautiful city. I wish here in Los Angeles, or anywhere in America, really, we had more dense land use, people friendly streets, and more vibrant street life. Instead I live next to two major boulevards with six lanes ands a freeway that cuts through my neighborhood.
