I hate how the app doesn't let you open a video in a new tab like browsers do. I HATE how if I close the app, then go back later to resume the video, and has closed the video and shows me new stuff, and it's a pain to go back and find the video. Browser tabs solves this. The app has turned into such a "Social Media" type dopamine candy crap.
Heres my layout: Im running poperblocker, Ublock, Return Dislike and Sponsorblock. I use custom commands on ublock to remove shorts and improve search results. I also have customtube which gives me the any era yt layout I want(currently running a UI from late 2009). Using yt without them feels like having s3x with yt without a condom.
Ublock Origin, SponsorBlock, Return UA-cam Dislike and Enhancer for UA-cam would be my go to picks. There is a site that tells you if ublock origin is updated to bypass the youtube adblock detection

My mentality is that I've spent a decent chunk of my life watching youtube ads, so I feel justified *enough* in finally going ad-free, for however long it'll last. Moral of the story, get youtube revanced and please put the time into researching it and considering it as an excellent alternative to the "official" UA-cam app if you don't already have it. Also good video, commentary and gameplay was pretty cool👍

I used to watch/put up with ads on videos and felt like "alright atleast the youtuber I like is making money", and with sponsors I always thought "alright man, get that bag" But now its getting terrible. I literally remarked this weekened to my partner about how it felt like there are MORE ADS on every video. We got (I shit you NOT) THREE ADS before the video started. Two were unskippable (and like 10-15 secs long) and it's so frustrating to get past one ad to see another... then just when you think it's over, you get past THAT ad to see ANOTHER is just so frustrating and deflating, and makes me want to click off instantly.... Then you add in the video sponsor, and the inevitiable ad break after and before the actual video starts, and it's like I'd rather watch TV again. And knowing that creators choose where and how many and what type of ad (nonskippable/skippable) makes it all the more frustrating. Hour long essay videos I've seen can have upwards of 5 midroll ads, not even including the starting ad, the sponsor, and the ending ad when the video ends (if they do that, some dont). This gets so much more frustrating when they choose to cut THEMSELVES off in midsentence just so I have to grab my phone out of my pocket and skip the ad so I can keep listening and working while I do. Fuck.
youre on IOS right? so try doing this: 1. click on a youtube video and try to get a six seconds ad. if you didnt, swipe down and switch to the shorts tab (the button on the bottom, or click on a random short) after that, switch back to either home, subscriptions or "You" to let the ads reroll. 2. wait until 6 seconds passed by and let the second ad load. 3. once the second ad has appeared, press the Shorts icon and switch back to "Home". 4. the video should run with only one ad seen. cant explain properly so my bad if y'all didnt understand my guide. Currently works for iOS. Have tried it on several android supported devices, none of them worked
There’s a glitch on UA-cam app where if u try to “remix” the video and than close it, there’s a small chance where the ad is replaced with a shorter one and there’s a much bigger chance that the ad will be skipped altogether. Idk why this works and it seemingly only works for me but I’m not complaining
Honestly, I just don't let the video sponsorships bother me. The content maker put it in to make money for their video, the ads ill just skip them when they appear. And if i cant skip it... its 15 seconds usually. Its not as bad as people make it out to be. Just learn patience
