That's the Greg A we all missed!!!!!!!
Mack Ware I love these vids where it’s just him in the garage wrenchin away.
I happen to agree.
Today I didn’t have the best day, not a lot
of good thoughts today: but this upload is the fire hose to my fire
Austin Simat sorry to hear that, all of 2020 has been hard for me too.
Abram Spearman I really appreciate the support, sorry to hear that 2020 isn’t going good for you too, greg_a helps me out a lot, at the end of the day I just have to be patient and just because times are bad now, doesn’t mean they won’t get better, fixing up my truck in baby steps
@@abramspearman9046 it will get better in November when Trump wins his second term:):):):)!!!!!!!
Hey Greg you ever think about going to a Cleetus and cars ?? Would be awesome to see the 05 in the burnout pit 😁😁😁
We need a Greg A weather report for old times sake!
And the lawn delete
@@williamuskoski1385 I almost said that too, but I figured I'd wait til spring. Lol
@Greg A, My name is Tyler. What's up from Maui, Hawaii. I am a Huuge fan! Your videos are awesome and very inspiring! I'm literally trying to watch every single video you have uploaded! I am hooked on your channel! I recently bought a 2004.5 Cummins 3500 (not the dually), quad cab short bed about a year ago. (one owner) It has the NV5600 I believe. Its bone stock with 130,xxx miles. All I can say is, what you are doing is Awesome! I have a list of things I want to do to my truck based off of the things that you have completed on your channel. You've educated me more in the diesel industry just by watching your videos. The tutorials you post are spot on! You've got some badass trucks man! I hope to travel up to the northeast someday to attend some of the awesome events you all have up there! Sorry for the long comment to everyone...Just wanted to say thanks for your channel! You're awesome bro! Awesome content and keep up the great work!
"all five injectors" made me laugh. idk why, but it did. thanks Greg_A
You can check your block with a straight edge and feeler gauges. Max warp is .003 front to back and .002 side to side. I agree doubt it would be a problem but if you have the tools and for price of mind.
Preventative maintenance. 👌🏽
The 08 is still my favorite truck!!!
ricky scheiderer mine too. I think it’s one of the nicest 3rd gens out there
same i think its the perfect balance between reliability and power
Same
How this channel has changed drastically since the beginning of the first generation ram project, and the scrap truck... (Omg I loved that thing) is insane. WOW
When you put it back together will you go into detail about adjusting the valves and valve lash?
I'm in new England too in Connecticut. So I know what you mean about nasty crusty! Lol! It's awesome to see someone do this and explain the work on this engine! I'm thinking about taking a gas powered Class A motorhome and getting a wrecked truck with a Cummins. And putting in the motorhome. Maybe I can hit you up for some advice
Back to the good ol Greg a videos! I’m with you on replacing everything that gets removed.
I'm so ready for the 2nd gen content!!!
Wooohoo Greg back in the shop
Glad to see u back 2 weeks in a row. Always great content. My birthday is coming up soon. I told the old lady I wanted some wrench work apparel to help and support the channel. Much love keep doing your thing.
Whoah, never seen the head studs removed that way before...Crazy how all the clamping force resides between the nut and surface of the head while the studs remain only finger tightened down into the block, unless I missed where he broke torque on them?
Theres a lot of ways to do things like surfacing cylinder heads. You can easily take it to a shop and get it magnafluxed for cracked which Cummins seem to be extremely common to crack but if you are pressed on time you can get a new sharpening stone and clean it as best as you can and use diesel or something as a lubricant to surface the head just that .001 or so to have a fresh smooth head. Now if its warped you will probably never be able to get it out by hand... but head gaskets will sometimes just decide it's the end of their life. Old paper ones especially.
It's always a good idea to check your head and block surfaces anytime you have a head gasket problem especially when you're talking about a inline 6 that head is way to long to not develop a little warp/twist
Yeah I always just shake my head when somebody doesn't have the heads checked not only for the surface, but possible cracks in the head or any valve or guide issues. Why would somebody run the risk after doing all that work just to have to tear it all back apart.
Awesome awesome video Greg A, can’t wait to see the new potential of the OG 08. I know the way you build your trucks, I can’t expect anything less than perfection out of it. And yeah gonget the pro drag license.
Miss these type of videos from you. Can't wait for the series a
Miss seeing muscle man Andy savage
These are the videos I liked to watch!!!!
Gonna repowercoat some parts ? Change the paint scheme up under the hood ??
Great info man and good to see you back in your natural habitat. Lol. I’m with you man, bite the money bullet and replace with fresh or as good as fresh if you can.
I’m new to your page and am now binge watching videos. I’m hoping you or someone that follows you can help me out with an issue. I have a ‘14 Cummins with a 68RFE. I had zero issues with my trans until I serviced it. OE parts and fluid but added a Felpro pan gasket. Now when it sits over night after startup I don’t have any gears until it idles for a minute. Yes the fluid is full checked at idle in neutral, changed the flat filters oring, changed the screw on filter nipple to steel. I just cannot figure it out.
Do it right the first time. It always pays. 😀👍👍
Well well weeeelll look who it is! Hey Greg long time no see buddy
Why not just reuse the head studs ? Or are they torque once items ? I thought that was why you upgraded?
Just curious love the vids thanks Greg
head studs stretch to clamp the head down. thats how they stop it from lifting so its best not to re use them.
HECK YEAH BOYS PUT UR SEATBELTS ON
From all your trucks, do you you have any 3rd gen exhaust brake setups? Even if it's just the 45 with the flap and would you sell one. I don't have $1400 to spend on an exhaust brake.
Cummins CCV Cover part # 4936347.
I want to upgrade my turbo. Would you recommend head studs as well? I have a 99 ram 2500 w/ a 24v Cummins. Transmission is getting rebuilt as we speak to hold more power. I do tow with a lot. Any recommendations you would offer?
Last time I pulled a head off one of these, down pipe flange sliced my hand bad... this gives me nightmares lol
Love how both 1st gens look like twins
I have a 08 4x4 on 35's
Any recommendations on which wheel hub assembly is the best to go with? And in a past video you recommend a certain bedside repair panels. What brand was that? Thanks
Love that truck!
Question I was getting 18-20mpg outta my 2007 3500 4x4 crew cab dually at 78mph now it's dropped off to 14-16 mpg at same speed Any idea as to what it is motor is stock other than a K&N air filter and a Smarty Jr programmer
$30,000??? I'll take it! That's a bargain! 🤣
Change the harness mine was fine til I removed it then it started making my truck miss fire
It’s nice to see one of your trucks dirty as hell like mine is
Nice ! I was waiting for a new video 😬👍🏻💪🏻
Where do you send your injectors to get check or rebuilt? How much does it normaly cost?
Greg what's up with the Peterbilt
You did injectors at like 190k in a super early video on the channel
It would be interesting to measure the studs to see if they stretched and if they did how much
1.1k thumb up vs 7 thumbs down 😂. Keep it up you're better than me!!! Love watching these types of videos
What is the reason for head gasket failure at that mileage? Additional power or just the mileage
I have a question for you. So I have a 2015 duramax 3500. Head gasket was cracked so took everything apart. When I was taking out my injectors I noticed there was like pebbles on my passenger side injectors. My driver side had like crusted on dirt. Would you have any answer from that? Looked at my cp4 filter and looked good. Thanks
For*
Salt kills !!!!!!!
When are we getting a peterbilt update
Can you go into depth on the fire rings?
What’s the info on the headlights? Factory ones with tint?
Yeah well I replaced the steering wheel controls on my '06 Expedition Limited tonight.
Greg, very interested in the part number for the valve cover. Please post it. Thanks, man. Great videos!
Cummins part # 4936347.
is it possible to swap a 12 valve head onto a 6-7 Cummins
Can we slow down the fast forward speed a tad. Thanks for the videos though!
Dylan Owens you can do that in UA-cam....
So lucky on your harness my XD say low circuit cyl. 5 and I don’t see any way to replace just the harness instead of the whole harness
Mine did that and all i did was replaced my solenoid on my injector.
Still don’t understand why you don’t take the engine out of the 05 if you have a brand new one sitting around there that’s waiting to go into it 🤔🤔
Would you be interested in selling your old 625 studs I need some badly.. by the way love the content
‘I know what I got, $30k.’ 😂😂😂😂.
What serpent belt you use on your truck
Let me buy that turbo!
Welcome back!😂
If you were interested in getting rid of any of those powdered blue parts I’m interested 🙏😬
I thought fire ringing was more for performance applications and o ringing was more for a performance daily driver application
Hey Greg A, dude i need the part number for that valve cover piece, I have been looking for that for a while just haven't figured out where to get it yet.
Cummins part # 4936347, Google and/or check eBay.
@@bb502cid awesome thank you man for that!!
Cargill450 - No problem buddy!
Hi
Look his OCD is kicking in the tools are starting to match the truck
I know this is an old video but when it comes to the valve cover gasket/injection harness they are typically bullet proof. The issue is stupid people. My 08 6.7 Cummins junked her first HG at 57k, my fault, back then we didn’t know the Smarty Jr was the worst tuner you could put on the truck. Anyhow I sent my truck off to get studded with 625’s new HG and swap the Smarty for a H&S mini max. On the 150 mile trip home from Sutherland Diesel in Palmdale the truck started to run like crap, no power smoking like hell and on the mini max it was showing P0204 P0205 P0206, basically injector failure on the rear 3 injectors. Turned out the morons at Sutherland torqued my valve cover down to 14ft lbs. yeah the manual calls for 14in lbs. so it was a $800 tow bill and $179 for the new gasket and all was well. Until the new HG blew because they had zero idea how to properly torque head studs and do a proper hot torque so on and so on. The truck is now fire ringed which is the ONLY way to go if you want to make anything more than 400 crank HP on a first Gen 6.7
Can't to get started on my 3rd gen on my channel...
What happened to the first gen
I didn't hear you say water pump... change it while your at it.
Doing it already is why
@@williamuskoski1385 k thanks!
Get a complete new rail and tubes
Just put a Hamilton street block in already!!
Why do you choose Cummins over Duramax? I am a Duramax fan but I lean towards Cummins as well but I've always heard their interiors and trans are weak.
Because Chevy is shit. Chevys trucks are cars compared to ford and dodge
Bc to change a cp3 on a cummins takes 20 min try doing that in a durashit
lot easier fixing crap when its all apart then doing it 50 times... bite the money bullet,
Still don’t see the part number for that valve cover! I wants it.
Anyone know?
4936347.
Kris Hanson thank you!
What happened to macho man Andy savage and Mr. Johnny sendit?
He moved states away...
Good luck at school Greg
👍👍👍💪💪💪
Wanna sell those 625s?
1st one here
When you say clean the deck..........??
The top of the block where the gasket and head sit
@@kylesonsalla7620 I'm sorry I wasnt clear I got all that I'm just wondering how he is cleaning it? Paper towels razor blades honing stone? Thanks for the response though!
@@MrBoomer25
I'm not sure how he's planning to do his, but I use a carbide edged Super Scraper and they come out mint, much better than with a razor blade.
@@kylesonsalla7620 hell yeah, Thank you sir!!
Cylinder head is cracked.
Do you have a Instagram

SDHU lol
that’s what happened when idiots with diesel trucks use the truck like sport car
Hey Greg I have a 6.7 head if you need one or anyone one message me on facebook amandamichael strickland

I hate rock music. For the love of God please stop using rock music in your videos. Go back to the music you used in the past please Greg.
