I really hope a developer is smart enough to capitalise on this once EAs deal is over and start making their own battlefront for the fans. It's a goldmine if done correctly
They should work with the creative modders who are true fans. Those mods with new characters are literally keeping the PC version alive and are the envy of console players. The modders would definitely treat a hypothetical BFront3 with the proper care and respect.

Because they ruined that themselves with micro transactions which kind of forced themselves to put out updates and dlc for free. If they just ditch the nearly fatal mistakes they make they would be able to bring in more than battlefield ever could. Im a huge battlefield fan too but they have ruined it and their playerbase dropped heavily after battlefield 1 and 5 and now the 2043 has not really impressed many people. With this action they are only killing off battlefield by forcing it so much. They are not really professionals either since EA constantly makes very bad business decisions.
This is coming from the same company that originally had a contract with exclusive rights to make Star Wars games, then wasted it for years by only making 2, scrapping the ones that most fans were interested in, and heavily monetized the rest until they tanked their own reputation further.
EA doesn't care about the community behind a franchise, which makes perfect sense why Disney would choose them, since no company that truly cared about Star Wars would have let the most recent movies release in the state they did. EA will do whatever it takes to make their quick buck, and so will Disney.
Star Wars literally couldn't have been bought out and licensed to worse companies...
I wouldn’t say battlefront is “absolutely flying” after the release and reception of battlefront 2 I would say battlefront took a huge hit even though it got better, people are still going to be sceptical about battlefront 3 even more so if it was developed in COVID.

Id love to see EA somehow fuse the two worlds of Battlefront and Jedi fallen order together somehow. I think I could really be the saving grace for them. give us a good story line to play through then some awesome multiplayer afterwards and we would be set for a while......a long while until EA decides they want to release another game.

@@timothy3014 It is. They have to give 20% of earning to Disney so in order to earn and not loss money they'd have to sell a lot more than they'd need if they owned the franchise in the first place. It's not that they don't want to share money. I imagine that they figured BF2 was a fiasco in their eyes that barely managed to return the investment and since they also have to give portion of it to Disney, it's too much of a risk. Thats probably their logic.

I want a open world star wars game. Create a character and all. Pick a class. Depending on the class you pick will have a different back story. But not necessarily different story. Make small tweaks. That's what I want. All depend on the class will dictate tactics.

Investors at EA saw the success of Fallen Order and the sequel was greenlit after a few weeks so yeah this is them changing course because EA is a business and wanna make money.

they had exclusive content creator rights until recently. 20% is not that bad when you have monopoly over SW media, but it is pretty bad when suddenly you have competition

Battlefield just needs more time instead of EA fucking it and jumping on to the next, like seriously, how do they have a rocky start with the new one and plan on moving to the next battlefield??
I think its a bit more complicated than that. A large-scale multiplayer like Battlefront requires a constant support team, regular updates, extra content to keep the playerbase alive. In 2017, with the launch of Battlefront 2, EA realized they can't monetize this title the same way they do with other multiplayers (lootboxes and payed DLC), because fans will go mad and sales will drop. Everything Dice did after launch was simply because EA wanted to fix their reputation. No matter how well Battlefront 2 sold, its a financual failure in the eyes of EA that doesn't worth investment.
Fallen Order is simpler. Developers make it in Unreal Engine (which is free btw), and they don't have to touch it ever again. No regular updates, support, content and server upkeep costs.
If EA would rather focus on their own games like battlefront, then they should sell the licence to another company. It makes no sense why they’d hold on to them when they don’t plan on doing anything with it. They could cash in by selling it, and use the money to go towards battlefield. Would be a win win for everyone, including the fans. Tons of people still play Battlefront 2 years later, so imagine the hype towards a battlefront 3?
I think what has happened is EA shot down Battlefront 3 so they could keep dice focusing on fixing and maintaining Battlefield 2042
This is the worst news we have got, and ultimately, when the licence opens up we are going to get Battlefront 3, Fallen Order 2 and surely a clone wars focused game, it has so many options and is very popular!!

Its copyright EA which means that if another studio make a game called star wars battlefront without owning the title, EA can sue them for it. However, another company can make a similar game and call it something else but it won't be battlefont. Same with fallen order. Another company can't just decide to make fo2 without permission/licence from EA

The fact EA doesn't want to make Battlefront 3 makes sense, kind of. From a certain point of view. Check this. With single player games they made and will make, they KNOW they won't earn more than what they will get from just selling those games + maaaaybe potential DLCs. Now Battlefront? It's a multiplayer, live service games. EA expects with games like that that they will get money from selling those games + potential dlcs + monetization. BF2 showed that they can't monetize it the way they'd want because fans basically went apeshit when they did and after that the only reason they comissioned DICE to fix the game was damage control and nothing more. They aren't interested in Battlefront simply because they can't monetize it in a way they would be satisfied because yes, shocking, they don't care what we think. It's either their way or the highway and if they deem something a failure, it's over in their eyes. I know crazy but remember, they're the ones who for years tried to convince their playerbase that singleplayer games are dead and not worth doing anymore.
The current monetization model of EA in regards with battlefield could very well fit with battlefront series. Lootboxes are long gone from battlefield series after 4. In battlefield 1 you pay scarps(non - Monetised currency) in order to get a battlepack which rewarded you with a random cosmetic gunskin. In battlefield 5 even these were removed and they straight up allow you to earn the currency in game and buy cosmetic and elites just like battlefront 2. Battlefield 2042 at the time has a unknown monetization.
So yeah EA's model can work but idk why they don't want the money

All my gaming in the 90s and 00s was single player. I only got multiplayer when xbox 360 came out.
I hate multiplayer, I'm not competitive I wanna get my escapism fix.
Any new games multiplayer is the same experience, getting wiped out from gamers who are trying to go pro, hackers or just lag in general.

Exactly. Battlefield isn't even that profitable by comparison. I think EA are lying. Why would they deny the possibly greatest battlefront game ever just because Disney gets 20% of that? Battlefront 3 would make a massive profit, leaving truckloads for EA, even after the tax. They should just come out and say that they hate Star Wars, the fans, the Battlefront IP, and making quality games. If that is the case.

Battlefront 3 could end up being the most profitable Star Wars game… ever. And yet EA are just saying no to it for the dumbest of reasons.
I want to hold out hope that EA will come to their senses but at this rate I doubt it will change. Let’s atleast make some noise about this so EA will know.
The reason ea doesn't want to make it is because they can't milk us for thousands of dollars on top of buying the game...
And they wouldn't really have time to make it anymore since their license end in 2023, so lets just hope some other publisher get a studio working on it down the line

It is frustrating how EA refuses to make a Battlefront 3 because they don’t get the full percentage… when as you pointed out, they hadn’t gotten the full profit from the previous games because Disney had their share.
Honestly glad that I’m playing Halo infinite right now, because it’s actually a worthwhile experience that gives me incentive to keep playing. Whereas overtime Battlefront 2 just drove me away.

I've commented, on who knows how many SWBF3 topic videos, that the SWBF series really needs some Legends content in it. Not using it is deadass acting like 90% of original Star Wars lore and it's Canon inspiration don't exist. I don't think we'll ever see a game that has shit from Pre-100 Years of Darkness content in it. I want to fight the fledgling Infinite Empire, Tionese Fleet, Xim the Despot's armies, the mighty Hutt Empire and more. Like this shit is cool but I know only a fraction of a fraction of the SW community even know what the Tionese War and Infinite Empire are...

I wish they would do a update to swbf2 add new hero's and villans like ashoka, ventress ,cade bane ,Windu . Add new maps like the jedi temple, or a battle royal mode where you are put on a starwars map 1v1 with 150 players picking up loot and you can get a chance to find " force" could alow you to push or pull enemies, you pick up guns and light sabers, droids to help you out to heal or scan the area amd you can find vehicles like walkers or speeder bikes to xwings or ti fighters just an idea to save the game

I myself have never programmed a game, but am learning p5js in school. So I'd like the opinion of a more elaborate game developer. Would it be possible to develop a full scale Battlefront 3 as a community project? We would need to organise and plan everything out, but would it be possible? I think there are many great developers and 3D artist that like star wars so why not?

I thought of it as a no profit project, a game from star wars lovers to star wars lovers and others. The only price for the game would be server and licensing cost
@@g0nDra That'd be nearly impossible. Even with 100+ developers involved, it would take almost a decade to build it from scratch, considering they would be working on it in their free time. Not all of them would be on the same level, they wouldn't be in the same office and time management would be another big issue. And even for a non-profit project, you would still have to buy the license so... good luck with that
Unfortunately I don't think it's possible and it wouldn't nearly be on par to the quality of EA and DICE's games due to the millions of dollars they can invest into it as well as the team.
Plus throw in the possible lawsuits that would come with it, the amount of development time it would take, and finding willing individuals who would even work on it since they wouldn't be getting paid or compensated for all the hours of work.
This is for the best. Seeing the quality of dice games as of late, rather not get a game if it’s gonna be shot

And BF 2 was getting 20 millions players when it wasn’t getting content updates, and Jedi Fallen Order is a universally loved game, and squadrons was very good for the people who played it / loved rogue squadron games
If I was the EA boss, why on Earth would I abandon Star Wars, like the 1st / 2nd biggest franchise in history to a smaller, game only franchise that receives a lot of hate, hence reducing sales, where as with Star Wars games, sales and in game purchases would make EA more than billion aires

What I’m also sayin is EA KNOWS they’ve made strange blunders in the past, so since 2015 - 2017 I thought they would’ve learned from those blunders by now
I stopped being an EA hater in 2019, and 4 / 5 games they’ve made I’ve liked at least, and I know games are more expensive to make nowadays but this is EA, helped by Disney so they have the largest budget ever, and they release a FIFA game every single year that just updates the grass. And even taking that into account EA could at least tell positive fans like us “hey, we’re making a sequel era video game for 2023” or “here’s the logo for this new open world game” or “here’s a 45 second teaser for Jedi Fallen Order 2 / 3”
Battlefield 5 sucked
battlefield 1 was 100x more successful than battlefront 2 was, and it's still relatively successful. i can 100% see why they're putting their faith in that than battlefront 2. battlefront brings outside fans in and battlefields fans have stockholm syndrome from the lootboxes so don't care. and the battlefront fans care. EA just doesn't see the point in a battlefront 3 given the disasterous launch that was battlefront 2. yes, the game got better but the point is it was still a horrible launch.

@@Oppen1945 Dude, you forget that the Battlefield series only RECENTLY returned to Steam. Only people who actually like the game bought it on steam. Metacritic on the other hand has a 2.9 score. You need to learn context beforehand.
i think we are all forgetting one crucial thing with this. every star wars game that EA has made, they have made under a contract. the difference now is that they dont have the contract meaning that they have to pay 20% revenue and i’m sure that under the contract they probably had to the give less than 20% of the revenue. this is why this game would have been different from the other star wars games revenue wise
I dont think its the licensing issue, i think it has more to do with the failure of the p2w system they had in place at launch and they know they cannot put something like that in bf3 so they are basically saying if they cant make billions like they do with FIFA due to their monetizing system then they dont want any part of it.
They have to make Battlefront II more modable like the old Battlefront 2, where you could add Maps and a huge variety of other troops, choose the Era you want to play and so on. I still miss it in this game, damn!

I think the battlefield formula is what made the first battlefront games feel great, so why not respect the franchise that founded the old battlefront games.

I have only just played battlefront 2 today, and I can tell you it destroys the crap they just released, and it's almost 6 years old.
Basically the main reason why they don't want to make it is because of the 20% cut which is do stupid star wars is the most well known movie franchise at least I think it is and so many people would enjoy to play a new battlefront game and if they truly listen to the fans and pump out the characters we want and who they need to nerf or buff and put out quality maps and good game modes we would all be happy and they would make way way way more money then they spent

It’s a shame cause I think it could’ve been one of the best Star Wars games, there is so much stuff left out of BF2 to put in a BF3
And we have Battlefield Genderfluid V to thank for the total lack of content in BF2. They killed all further development on Battlefront 2 to allocate all of their time and resources to fixing that Woke monstrosity that completely backfired in their faces. What were they even thinking??

I’d imagine it’s due to the hiatus of mainstream Star Wars movies right now. The battlefront games are the flagship franchise game and typically came out amidst a Star Wars trilogy era to beef up sales. Can imagine if we ever get BF3 it will be around the time the next set of big movies come out.

Battlefront 3 most likely will come out on next gen. Once EA doesn't have ownership of the starwars games another company will fs take up the challenge.

@@o_o8203 Well lets put it this way money is the motivation they give 20 percent to Disney so if they fuck up they both lose money then the last battlefront 3 never released and 3rds never do good for them but in the long run if they make it correctly and there is a correct way that could beat previous sales especially if asoka and ventress two very much wanted characters are plastered on the box art and show to be fully functional launch characters they already have them mostly done a tweak of all characters some updates here and there a couple new maps fix whats broken and refresh the graphics and your up and running and just add dlc maps and characters after that basically start where they should've been at the end of battlefront 2 to begin with and add from there plenty is missing and many ways to monitize that isnt predatory and people would actually want to spend money on look at gta and fortnite billions in vbucks and shark cards now thats not the model i would suggest as they are predatory at least gta is but fortnite definitely is the more optimal way with skins and characters being extra purchases for decently cheap

the amount of sales would be crazy now with obi wan, the bad batch season 2, andor, season 3 and 4 mandolorian, etc. that lost 20% wouldn't even matter. corporate companies are always gonna do what gets them the most money. its sad but true.

I really hope that DICE brings the good singleplayer modes from the classic Battlefront 2 back, imagine conquering the whole galaxy with more planets, factions and even heroes, that´d be awesome.
The sad thing is so many games have good ideas and can be great but they sell to EA and then EA begins to not truly help or prioritize them and just cancels their work and ultimately scraps the company people need to stop selling out that’s it same way Star Wars shouldn’t have been sold to Disney 😭

The thing with Star Wars is it’s so massive and filled with possibility that no one knows what to do with it effectively.
Time lines spanning thousands of years, hundreds of characters people know and love… where do they start with a game like battlefront?
Personally, I think a clone wars battlefront that’s super fleshed out would be epic… instead of releasing a title with every conceivable era and character, just focus on one era in Star Wars and flesh it out in its entirety.
I’d like to see a clone wars battlefront with all the characters we know and love from that era and the ability to fight in any of those battles we’ve seen.
A bit like how ea have done battlefield, pick a time line, stick to it, flesh it out, go deep into the mechanics of that period and don’t deviate. They’ll create a very grounded and authentic Star Wars experience that way.
I really wanted battlefront to mirror the play style and gameplay of battlefield 1… squad based combat, squad based vehicular combat… Honestly, just take battlefield 1 and make it a Star Wars game with the same gameplay loop and systems, destruction ect… you’ve got a winner.
For bf1, bf2 & squadrons Disney definitely took 20% but for Fallen order they probably took less; generally with these types of licensing agreements the company takes less of a cut on single player games as multiplayer ones are much easier & profitable to monetise Continually

Dunno’ man, I’ve been playing Fallen Order’s campaign again and again. Lot’s of single player Star Wars games are known for being played again and again if the story and characters are good. You can do no death runs on hardest difficulty, unlock everything, create special caps on your replays. I’m bummed about bf3 too but personally I’m hyped for more story driven sw games myself.
ive beaten fallen order a few time on the hardest difficulty, but i don't know what to do in it anymore
@@starwarsjoey228You can always make up challenges, like trying a “no death” run, limit your force power ups, unlock all trophies, there’s always something to do in single player games that go beyond beating the game. Even if there are no trophies to be earned.

I can understand them, in my knowledge they lost exclusivity sometime ago and now they are in competition. -20% is a lot for a project that is no longer a monopoly, as it was before. Additionally, I do not know what new they could make for a Battlefront. Graphically it is up there, a whole new title for a minor graphical update is not a great investment. Gameplay-wise... I do not know? The same shit I guess, arcade run n gun bullshit just maybe different objectives? Nothing an update couldn't do. New campaign? A DLC could do that. But also, the canon universe hasnt expanded in a way that they would make a story into a new era. I think its a good idea. I wouldnt wanna buy the same shit on a different platter for full price release. Correct me please if you disagree, I am curious what could be new mechanically.
Different eras would mean also different heroes with different abilities
Gamemodes wise there are things you can do since they didn't invest much into space stuff, story would go along the older era

@@lince_the_pigeon9336 I can and I love to imagine that, but unfortunately they can only work with the "mainstream story arcs" (the films basically) that are developed enough as canon. I LOVE kotor but only with an IP license they cannot "expand" the lore. And I will be honest, if we were to see characters like Revan or Nihilus for the first time in any Star Wars media (games or films etc), i would not like to see them in a Battlefront. It is too arcade and "balanced" so I do not think that BF3 should be the big force to pioneer and establish those crazy new and mysterious characters. I hope i was uderstandable, i struggle with English sometimes

They should just bring back loot boxes for example adding a huge load of new weapons,attachments, character cosmetics for example clone trooper visors, custom trooper markings like Captain Rex’s tallies. New heroes. Add new Maps into Capital Supremacy (because it’s the most popular game mode) Add a phase 2 into Capital Supremacy (Classic Era), everything costing credits that way u have a purpose to continue grinding the game for those cool items, weapons and cosmetics.
Its funny watching this in the future and seeing how EA chose Batlefield over Battlefront and how currently Battlefield is getting shit on, even EA saying free to play is an option.

I would've just been fine in a third game, if they would just take the drednaught and blimp mechanic and added it to the next game like a side objective that you can land starfighters in and desroy it from the inside without a cutscene. that would've been awesome enough for me to keep playing. on top of new maps, heros ect.
Big name companies just ruin everything. I much rather have a medium/smaller company make BF3 I mean at least they will provide personalised service. Yes it will take time and quality won't be great at first but at least they are there for the long run. Also, they can provide every era, character, blaster, ship etc you name it.
They can listen to the fans/community about their wants/demands. I mean if they are willing to do so and able to.
If EA won’t let Dice do it, I’d love to see Activision and any of the cod developers get a go at a battlefront type game.. it’d not be as good and it’d probably have the abysmal match maker but it’d be better than nothing

I saw somewhere (but for the life of me I don't know where) but the current head of EA Andrew Wilson was never a fan of the Star Wars exclusive license. Apparently his predecessor signed the exclusive deal and he was "stuck" with it.
