that scene when qui gon is fighting darth maul and he just sits down to meditate in the middle of the fight, is one of my favorite scenes in all of star wars. It really shows how being a Jedi is about being calm, emptying your mind of distractions, and listening to the force
It's a cool scene and all, but fuck me does it annoy me every time that Obi-Wan doesn't just use force speed to sprint up to them instead of having to wait behind the barrier. Yes, it's a plot choice so Qui-Gon can die, but they both literally did that exact thing to escape from the destroyer droids earlier in the movie.
But wasn't that lightsaber lost on Bespin, along with a very rotten hand? Or did I miss their excuse for it being the Blus Saber rather than the Green one Luke made himself???
The fact that Finn's spine not only still existed but was completely functional after every single vertebra came into direct contact with a lightsaber so powerful and unstable it had to vent parts of the blade out the side is proof enough that Disney has no idea what the hell they're doing.

Dooku cut Anakin's arm off in that very same fight - and this is also the movie where Zam gets her arm cut off, Jango gets decapitated, and hundreds of droids and Geonosians get chopped to pieces, all by lightsaber strikes. It really isn't a valid comparison. @@polterpup4440
Worst part is, the ENTIRE reason anakin turned to the dark side, is because he wanted to learn force healing. ALL the pain and suffering, confusion, betrayal, and everything that made anakins big sacrifice was because he wanted to save padme with force healing. And guess what? Out of nowhere, Rey can use force healing. Wow, what a joke of a character.
To be fair, even Grogu knew how to use force healing and dude had only been a Padawan and had very little recollection of his past (though pretty much everytime he used his powers he fell asleep immediately thereafter) and Rey had the ancient Jedi texts to learn from.

I always loved how Jedi and even the Sith turned off their lightsabers when they weren't actively using it even in the midst of a battle. And only light it up just when they're about to come to blows again. It was cool, it showed restraint, control and it was fking BADASS!

I never understood why Kylo Ren that was trained in Jedi arts from the day he was born got his assed kick by someone that never saw a lightsabre before.
The thing aggravates me the most within that scene is that building and properly using a lightsaber is the last step in both Sith and Jedi teachings, we learned that Maul trained for years with more conventional weapons before even making his lightsaber. In a similar way, Padwans train from youth until their very early teenage years before making their lightsaber and yet still have to train extensively to not accidentally kill themselves. My point is Kylo should of been EP 1 Obi-wan level at the very least by the time of his fight with Rey. While, Rey and Finn should of been more hazardous to themself playing with a lightsaber than to Kylo. Also a side note, Rey doesn't fight like a Jedi whatsoever, she uses her anger to give herself a boost in "strength", by constantly screaming and doing her little warcrys

In the fight between Obi-wan and Maul they had to slow it down because they were so good at it that they thought it wouldn’t look believable. Now people can kick three guys at a time.
hoping in the kenobi movie we get those sick ass lightsaber battles at least once... maybe against maul? its obvious the difference in skill between the modern "jedi" and those of the prequels. they did an okay job with vader in the end of rogue one but he was only slicing down people.
I remember having one “friend” in primary school who thought lightsabers were called “life savers” and thought Star Wars was set in the future. But he still understood Star Wars a lot more than Disney.

He uses highly telegraphed swings and never holds a propper guard. He should be dead within two seconds fighting someone who has traning with anny wepon. I dont think that suits a guy that should at leat have a couple years of training.
@@bk_______ I think it is supposed to show his cocky attitude. Its a sort of ennui flavor to show he is bored and annoyed to have to bother with an actual fight. His personality type wouldn't tolerate being trained for precision when he can force push/choke most any opponent who was more skilled. Also something neglected to consider when judging fights or individual skills is the invisible force against force struggles. Perhaps many moves are being played out and cancelled at that level and the physical swings are just the only gap that is found by an opponent at that time. Would explain some of what seem to be poor choices or lack of defense if one swing is really preceded by multiple virtual parrys ... Or in the case of as force user against a non user it could be that they were briefly immobilized - like that Rey vs missing blade guy. At least that is what I would say if i was responsible for that crappy scene.

The other part about Disney not understanding Lightsabers is how they keep using it like a regular sword instead of a fencing sword. The entire blade is dangerous even with a gentle poke. keep them at a distance and just jab them to death rather than trying to get in close to slice a body part off.
I gave 8 a try hoping it would be better then 7. I did watch the hole movie but it convinced me this so called sequel to one of the greatest movies of all time was not gonna work. My parents even wanted to watch 9 when it came to disney+ and I refused to watch it.

There is even a full episode on Clone Wars where ashoka looses hers and the entire episode is trying to get it back no metter what. And it's told on the scene where she finds the saber, that the saber owner was Luke's father. Honestly, Luke almost didn't use the lightsaber enough to say that it was "luke's saber", since he lost it after his first duel. It SHOULD be called Anakin's saber, or at least something like "Skywalker saber"

i would say the reason kylo's saber didn't cut straight through finn was because his crystal was cracked causing the blade to be weaker, but you can see kylo ren ignite his blade right through han solo, and rey slashed kylo with lukes old saber and his crystal is completely fine. disney lightsabers truly do not make any sense

the mandalorian was good but the cgi was a bit too noticable during way too many scenes (not talking about the luke scene, im talking about smoke effects, sparks and stuff like that, also in certain scenes we see blasters leaving a scorch mark on din djarins armour but in other scenes they dont even leave a scratch)

Honestly, I’m still trying to find out why the storm trooper has the stun baton in the first place. The first order didn’t even know about Luke’s Lightsaber. The only light saber they knew about was Kylo’s.

He called it that because first of all it's not the first time someone in Star Wars calls it that and second of all you can see it like if someone calls Excalibur an old sword. Also because you know so much about Star Wars you may know that George Lucas likes to refer lightsabers as laserswords.

Stormtroopers receive melee weapon training, if this was not made apparent by the normal st with a riot baton. it was elaborated on in an official novel.
I feel like disney is the one kid at the lunch table who hears people talking about star wars, so he talks with them about it but there’s one problem. He never seen a single movie or the shows. He calls stormtroopers soldiers. The only name he knows is chewbaca, darth vader, and yoda.
George Lucas originally wanted to call them laser swords. He was rightfully talked out of it, insofar as "light saber" has become far more memorable and iconic, even though they in no way resemble actual sabers. But he couldn't resist sprinkling his original name for them into the prequels, which is why young Anakin calls it a laser sword. And really, laser sword is a much more accurate but less poetic name. Apart from that point, l agree that Disney doesn't understand light sabers or really anything else about SW.
I think people focus on the smallest dumbest details on the sequels just to call them terrible movies, in my viewpoint these lightsabers are just laser blades, use them however you like
What source are you citing to support your claim that Lucas originally wanted to call them laser swords and who "talked him out of it?" There is only one interview where Lucas uses the phrase "laser sword" but that in no way supports your claims.

The blade is generated by the cyber crystal, which is connected through the force with the one who found it and used it to create the saber. The crystal is the reflection of it's user, and the user can only get the crystal if they are force sensetive and only through a trial that helps them to become a better person. If you’re not the original user the weapon will feel heavy and it will resist your will. The hilt itself also reflects the user. I find your lack of understanding disturbing.

Someone learning how to handle a new weapon with no weight would absolutely not be moving or running around like an imbecile. They’d be feeling out how it moves and how much force is needed for control
Just some comments I'd like to make. I can see a lightsaber doing surface level damage if it just "barely" touches someone, it is a little odd to see it happen so often. Another thing, it has never been the case that you need to be force sensitive to weild a lightsaber. It's just that without the force making one without it exploding is near impossible, so Anakins sabre should have stayed broken. Also the way they work gives them extremely weird momentum, which is why you don't see many non-force sensitives picking one up.
The storm trooper with the baton could have been hilarious if he swung the thing around and charged forward, only for Fin to slice straight through it because it’s been decades since the bad guys ever fought against a lightsaber
That would have been hillarious. I would also like to say that it isn't unheard of for some weapons to be able to withstand lightsabers. A vibrosword is designed to withstand a lightsaber. I highly doubt the baton troopers had a weapon specially designed against jedi though.

From what I can gather, after episode 7 Disney planned to do two main trilogies, an Obi Wan tv series, the mandalorian and some tie in shit like rogue one and solo. However the obi wan series got scrapped once episode 8 came out worse than expected and solo bombed, and now I'm thinking the second main trilogy might be on the chopping block too as I haven't heard anything about it for ages now. About the only successful SW thing going right now is the mandalorian so I'd expect maybe some more tv series like that, which will probably last until they can't resist making it overly woke and losing viewers that way. Other than that, who knows? Will likely be an entertaining trashfire regardless lol

He was hit with a WOOKIEE BOWCASTER. Go back and watch what that thing does to stormtroopers. It throws them against fuckin' walls like they were hit with a wrecking ball. Kylo took one and is bleeding and still going. That's why he's able to lose.
He was wounded pretty badly. So badly in fact that it’s understandable that an untrained Rey could have beaten him. The fact that he did so well while injured is impressive.
I went to Disney world and I asked to see Anakin lightsaber. The girl working the store was confused. She said they didn’t have Anakin’s lightsaber because it was “lost.” I then pointed to Anakin’s lightsaber, I simply said “That’s the one.” The girl behind the counter looked at me and said “Oh! You mean Rey’s lightsaber!” This was after episode nine came out too. Where we see Rey has her own saber. Anakin’s lightsaber is Anakin’s lightsaber. No one else’s.

One of the things that make lightsaber fights in the first six episodes so tense and exciting is knowing that even just one slip or move, and your hand or head is gone. And it happens incredibly fast in most situations. Watching the sequel however…slip-ups are accepted with open arms and forgiven easily. Rey doesn’t even lose a limb and calls herself a skywalker!
She is barley even worth of being called a Palpatine, the emperor is completely wasted here but even so, she is so overpowered and some of here abilities (force healind) seem to surpase even the skills of Yoda. Not every Jedi turned into a force ghost. Qui Gonn Jin did it, so did Yoda and Obi-Wan. Plo Koon,Fisto, Secura, Mundi, Mace and all the other Jedis that died just became one with the force

I was hoping they would use characters from the books such as Jaina and Jacen Solo instead of dismissing all the lore that authors worked so hard on faithfully and recreating it. I was looking forward to the Yuuzhan Vong war and seeing the death of chewbacca on Sernpidal while rescuing Anakin Solo and many more stories. I thought Disney was great at plagiarizing content and claiming it for themselves. We need a grittier and realistic Star Wars and not just a fantasy. Disney is losing the fan base that came with the franchise.

Hell, even Disney princess is far better than Rey's character. Think about it, Rey got no hero/protagonist journey whatsoever, she master everything quickly and bested her nemesis without significant trouble. Cinderella didn't get rich and marry the prince right away, she got abuses, Mulan didn't become a soldier right away, she was forced to adapt even nearly died by her opponents. Combine with the betrayals to all of our beloved original trilogy characters, the new sequels better be scrapped from the timeline.
Luke was the one who did the unthinkable, bringing vader back to light. He failed many times but didn't lose hope. But he lost hope to bring Kylo back and went to hiding like a coward. This is not luke.

Can we also mention how Kylo gets shot with a bow caster, which is more powerful than a regular blaster, and not only is the worst damage just a limp, but it bleeds. When someone gets shot/stabbed/cut with these weapons, the heat immediately cauterizes the wound. We need to either completely remove or at least tone done plot armor.
I mean, blaster wounds produced blood and viscera in the original star wars novels, but it never made it to screen for obvious reasons. Why they wouldn't just have Kylo pass out from blood loss to make sure he stays looking strong is beyond me, but hey, hindsight is 20/20
I think the most fucked part of the scene where a storm trooper takes on a lightsaber is that, as far as those troopers were concerned, there werent ANY jedi left. So why the hell was he even prepared with a weapon that could go toe to toe with a lightsaber

that scene when qui gon is fighting darth maul and he just sits down to meditate in the middle of the fight, is one of my favorite scenes in all of star wars. It really shows how being a Jedi is about being calm, emptying your mind of distractions, and listening to the force

I always loved how Jedi and even the Sith turned off their lightsabers when they weren't actively using it even in the midst of a battle. And only light it up just when they're about to come to blows again. It was cool, it showed restraint, control and it was fking BADASS!

The thing aggravates me the most within that scene is that building and properly using a lightsaber is the last step in both Sith and Jedi teachings, we learned that Maul trained for years with more conventional weapons before even making his lightsaber. In a similar way, Padwans train from youth until their very early teenage years before making their lightsaber and yet still have to train extensively to not accidentally kill themselves. My point is Kylo should of been EP 1 Obi-wan level at the very least by the time of his fight with Rey. While, Rey and Finn should of been more hazardous to themself playing with a lightsaber than to Kylo.
Also a side note, Rey doesn't fight like a Jedi whatsoever, she uses her anger to give herself a boost in "strength", by constantly screaming and doing her little warcrys

He uses highly telegraphed swings and never holds a propper guard. He should be dead within two seconds fighting someone who has traning with anny wepon. I dont think that suits a guy that should at leat have a couple years of training.
@@bk_______ I think it is supposed to show his cocky attitude. Its a sort of ennui flavor to show he is bored and annoyed to have to bother with an actual fight. His personality type wouldn't tolerate being trained for precision when he can force push/choke most any opponent who was more skilled. Also something neglected to consider when judging fights or individual skills is the invisible force against force struggles. Perhaps many moves are being played out and cancelled at that level and the physical swings are just the only gap that is found by an opponent at that time. Would explain some of what seem to be poor choices or lack of defense if one swing is really preceded by multiple virtual parrys ... Or in the case of as force user against a non user it could be that they were briefly immobilized - like that Rey vs missing blade guy. At least that is what I would say if i was responsible for that crappy scene.

I’m only assuming Luke called it a laser sword sarcastically and act as though he was just another civilian who didn’t care about anything, including his child support payments.
He called it that because first of all it's not the first time someone in Star Wars calls it that and second of all you can see it like if someone calls Excalibur an old sword.
Also because you know so much about Star Wars you may know that George Lucas likes to refer lightsabers as laserswords.

George Lucas originally wanted to call them laser swords. He was rightfully talked out of it, insofar as "light saber" has become far more memorable and iconic, even though they in no way resemble actual sabers.
But he couldn't resist sprinkling his original name for them into the prequels, which is why young Anakin calls it a laser sword.
And really, laser sword is a much more accurate but less poetic name. Apart from that point, l agree that Disney doesn't understand light sabers or really anything else about SW.
I think people focus on the smallest dumbest details on the sequels just to call them terrible movies, in my viewpoint these lightsabers are just laser blades, use them however you like

The blade is generated by the cyber crystal, which is connected through the force with the one who found it and used it to create the saber. The crystal is the reflection of it's user, and the user can only get the crystal if they are force sensetive and only through a trial that helps them to become a better person. If you’re not the original user the weapon will feel heavy and it will resist your will. The hilt itself also reflects the user. I find your lack of understanding disturbing.

Just some comments I'd like to make. I can see a lightsaber doing surface level damage if it just "barely" touches someone, it is a little odd to see it happen so often. Another thing, it has never been the case that you need to be force sensitive to weild a lightsaber. It's just that without the force making one without it exploding is near impossible, so Anakins sabre should have stayed broken. Also the way they work gives them extremely weird momentum, which is why you don't see many non-force sensitives picking one up.

That would have been hillarious. I would also like to say that it isn't unheard of for some weapons to be able to withstand lightsabers. A vibrosword is designed to withstand a lightsaber. I highly doubt the baton troopers had a weapon specially designed against jedi though.

@@blubettle1191 I've heard conflicting stories on that. From what I can gather, after episode 7 Disney planned to do two main trilogies, an Obi Wan tv series, the mandalorian and some tie in shit like rogue one and solo.
However the obi wan series got scrapped once episode 8 came out worse than expected and solo bombed, and now I'm thinking the second main trilogy might be on the chopping block too as I haven't heard anything about it for ages now. About the only successful SW thing going right now is the mandalorian so I'd expect maybe some more tv series like that, which will probably last until they can't resist making it overly woke and losing viewers that way.
Other than that, who knows? Will likely be an entertaining trashfire regardless lol

One of the things that make lightsaber fights in the first six episodes so tense and exciting is knowing that even just one slip or move, and your hand or head is gone. And it happens incredibly fast in most situations. Watching the sequel however…slip-ups are accepted with open arms and forgiven easily. Rey doesn’t even lose a limb and calls herself a skywalker!

I love how all of Luke’s major role models had put so much emphasis on “Light” “Saber” yet Disney still thinks he would call it Laser Sword.
Rey is legit just a Disney princess, they completely blew off all of the other characters
I was hoping they would use characters from the books such as Jaina and Jacen Solo instead of dismissing all the lore that authors worked so hard on faithfully and recreating it. I was looking forward to the Yuuzhan Vong war and seeing the death of chewbacca on Sernpidal while rescuing Anakin Solo and many more stories. I thought Disney was great at plagiarizing content and claiming it for themselves. We need a grittier and realistic Star Wars and not just a fantasy. Disney is losing the fan base that came with the franchise.

Hell, even Disney princess is far better than Rey's character. Think about it, Rey got no hero/protagonist journey whatsoever, she master everything quickly and bested her nemesis without significant trouble. Cinderella didn't get rich and marry the prince right away, she got abuses, Mulan didn't become a soldier right away, she was forced to adapt even nearly died by her opponents. Combine with the betrayals to all of our beloved original trilogy characters, the new sequels better be scrapped from the timeline.

Can we also mention how Kylo gets shot with a bow caster, which is more powerful than a regular blaster, and not only is the worst damage just a limp, but it bleeds. When someone gets shot/stabbed/cut with these weapons, the heat immediately cauterizes the wound. We need to either completely remove or at least tone done plot armor.
