Keeping the lid on the container will reinforce the rim and lessen the bowing. Cut out the center, but leave a three or four inch wide rim all the way around.
Tubs over 15 gallon capacity you double up. They will bow some, but hold. Plastic is thick enough and flexible enough at larger sizes not to break. You leave 2-3 inches space at the top.
This is my favorite fish channel! You are the most underrated fish UA-camr. Keep up the great work bro I’m a big fan!
Thank you so much!! That actually means a lot ❤️😊
They sell some completely clear plastic storage bins at target! Work great for temporary setups you can still look into.
Wow really???
Love your Chanel James !
I used bins that had thicker and rougher exterior walls so it becomes much harder to see through them especially with the bending walls distorting the fish size - but i found a bin that has very clear walls & without the common distorting view of looking through bending plastic. I got it from home depot for $23 bucks. They had taller ones at 18 inches - however, i got the one that was 6 inches tall, 33inches long, and 18 inches deep. not a tall tank, but gives them tones of room to swim while keeping them visible. I made a reel on it if interested to see how it turned out! btw Great vid some spot on points - i totally would not trust the 18 inches height bin filled as that is bound to warp. 🙏🤘
I used to watch u a lot before because of fishes. Glad to see ur still into this hobby :>
Your videos are getting better bro day by day! 😀🙌
Thank you!!! 😊❤️
You are soooo talented & cool !
i find the storage bins work ok especially for an affordable price...yeah im sorry glass isnt afforable nowadays 150$ compared to like 60$ for the same size tank is a HUGE diffrence if u need more then 1 tank and i finds glass can break if dropped too easy and are REALLY heavy so i use tubs instead and 150$ is the cheapest a person can do for a 55 gallon even
Yeah
You teach me a lot about fish, thank you
Glad to hear that!
It looks like a great idea for when you need to do a monthly clean of the glass 20 gal. tank the fish normally live in.
i was thinking of this because i got a fish today (I forgot what type it was) but it needs at least 29 gallons of space because it gets 8-10 in and it was very aggressive to my other fish and I'm kind of broke
Can u tell us how u made that filter
Tupperware does not make containers big enough for fishkeeping. Most of these totes are made by Rubbermaid or Sterilite.
My guppies/platys (don’t know what they are at this point) have had babies. And they were too big for the tank by themself so I don’t know what I’m going to do now 😭. This came at the perfect time.
i have an 65 l ikea samla platic bin. lightem from back. was ment to be temp as i change the sealing to my 250 l glass tank. but not coming back. will have 3 of this. 1
for plants, 1 for fish food (shrimps, snails etc)
👍
Do those tupperwear tanks require bin-eficial bacteria to thrive?
It de-bins on the tote-al volume of the bin that bin-ing said Yes!
I want to get the long sterlite container to make small pond for Japanese rice fish.
I found your channel from your Aquatics unlimited store video, that’s my go to store living in Milwaukee. It’s great to see a local fish content creator. Any other stores you prefer?
A mate of mine suggested I do this for my fish. And I did and honest to god I'm wondering to myself why I never did it before. Slight bowing to it. But wouldn't say its a massive issue as it isn't bowing too badly. My fish look so much happier in a storage box than they ever did in their actual tank. Granted it was 50l and the storage aquarium is 80l so my fish are made up with it which means so am I 🙂🙂
How do you know if the box is safe?
You would need to check if it is food safe that should help :D
Can you make an update video on your tortoise pls
Ohh! I guess when many westerners say tupperware, it's anything plastic container and not the actual plasticwares manufactured by tupperware.
Actual tupperwares are expensive and if I make anything out of our tupperwares aside for using it as a food container my mother would disown me.
I saw a UA-cam video of a fish youtuber and he use a bin container for a betta fish
I wonder how well it worked for them?
Just a comment to make a comment to help your algorithm.
Haha thank you!!! I'm planning on posting a bit more so that should help!
Hey bro my favorite fish is bettas want a big pond with only them 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹👌👌
Ahh that would be awesome! It would probably have to be all females so they don’t fight lol
@@ChallengetheWild You could keep males in a pond if there is plenty of room for them to set up individual territories. They only fight in aquariums because there is nowhere for the less dominant male to move away.
@@emmitstewart1921 not true. Someone had like a 400+ gallon and they still found each other and killed one another
I bet you can also grow aquarium plants, James. Make sure is it toxic-free.
Dang it, ya didn’t say catch y’all on the flippidy flop.
Whatever tho, the pow pow is cool to tho.
Storage bins as aquariums is not a good idea because they're not made to hold water and will most likely implode from all the weight of the water and from the water eating away at the plastic people don't know this but water actually does eat away at certain types of plastic in the plastics that are used in storage bins get eaten away by water over time.
Storage bins are also made with chemicals and stuff to try to make the plastic last longer which can be a very dangerous thing to your animals they also do not produce a lot of space they're pretty tiny they usually are measured by leader because they don't have a big width to them to have a long length and your turtle doesn't need length going up they need with going straight across so they can swim back and forth and have lots of space.
They don't implode. You double up sizes over 15 gallons for the flex. Leave 2-3 inches space at the top, done. Water can't eat plastic????????????????????
The big worry is that they aren't food grade and may leach chemicals into the water.
OK, I got to 1:50 and you covered that!
Haha yes! They might also have oils and other nasty stuff from the store!
@@ChallengetheWild I once spent some time working for a company that made containers for Rubbermaid. The injection molding machines move by hydraulic motors. These often sprayed the containers with hydraulic fluid. They wipe most of this off, but traces would remain. Wash your container thoroughly before using it for fish.
You can get food grade tubs. not necessary if they're clear.
would you be making a pun about wood?
I bought 2 nerite snails from you. I thought they don't have babies outside of salt water. Just so you know that's not true. They do, they are everywhere now. Multiplying. Lol
Really??? Thats really werid
@@ChallengetheWild yes, I don't know how to send pics but there are ten of them now. I'm fine with it but do you think I'll have a problem with overpopulation?
That’s crazy I’ve never heard on nerdier snails laying eggs and having babies in freshwater! You can always give them to a pet store 😊
I feel like the worst thing with it is the bowing
True! Especially with the cheaper thin containers! Very sketchy
