      I love the changes:
      -The title of your channel
-The different thumbnail of this video...not sure why, but I did like the previous one. I like this one too!
I've been implementing so many of your tips that I am 4-6 of your videos behind in commenting, but I will catch up. I try to schedule my plan to watch your videos, but when UA-cam puts your recent one in my feed and notifications--I stop in my tracks 💖😃! It is a MUST to watch your new video no matter where I am or what I am doing.
At the time of this comment, I have watched this video 3 times 😁! I'm learning so much and making major shifts thanks to you!
I first watched your video after it was published at the 8min mark with 30 views. As I sat down to watch again an hour later, it was at 311 views (and counting) with 93 likes**. Soooo very encouraging to me and what I can do for my channel, again...thanks to you.
I'm sorry to be long-winded, but this is how I'm communicating what value your lessons are bringing to me. And just as a testimony, your tip from a previous video, about making your viewer smile and agree--that's me all the way! My head is bobbing up and down with agreement from this and all your videos 😄!
And finally, to answer your question, I am focusing on researching my topic, title, & thumbnail before creating my video right now😁. Actually, I've done a little research, but not as extensive using the tools as I should. That will be my number one (#1) change. Side Two: (2) I already plan my introduction statement, thanks to you, but I have not been doing it in bullet points. So that's a relief and I'll be doing that too. (3) And about checking the analytics, I believe I watch them too much. But, I need more details, as you showed here, on how to watch the analytics and what each bar, rating, graphs, etc. mean, plus how to use that for improvement or celebration. (This is going to be "doozer"! Yay!)
I could hug UA-cam right now for putting your 1st challenge video in my feed 🤗😍. Of course, I can hug (and want to) you too🤩!!! So very grateful!!!
I used your thumbnail tip on my latest video (published yesterday) and it worked! My numbers are the highest it's ever been and still increasing 😁🤗♥. And how you re-made of her thumbnail on caregiving, I can see clearly--It made me want to click (if I was on her channel)!
Special Comment: I haven't submitted my channel for review yet, but I will. I keep learning so much and deciding on what one thing I want you to review for me.
**Side Note: At the time I am posting this comment, your video has 947 views in 3 hours, and 201 Likes!!! I love the growth!!! I'm sticking with you!

Instead of thinking about good intros, think about how you can make your videos good without intros. I do livestreams that hit almost 30k views despite having only 700 subs, because I just dig straight into the topic. I don't give context, I don't introduce myself, I don't preface what the video is about, I don't give glossary of content, I don't give disclaimers, I go head first. By the time I get an average of 40+ viewers, I would be finishing up my final takes and be on my way to close off the stream. My streams never hit the peak live viewer count by design, I always cut the live when it's approaching the peak and allow the viewers to get curious enough to watch the entire livestream on playback. Anytime you can cut to the chase without intro/outro, you should.

I’m an avid UA-cam watcher. I have a whole laundry list of things I hate that certain UA-camrs do and make sure I don’t do those things. One is when they spend the first 5 minutes giving the same boring spiel about clicking the like button and how it helps the algorithm, how it gets UA-cam to send them more viewers and on and on and friggen on. Don’t do that. I understand wanting likes but, don’t beg for them. Politely ask for them then shut up. I know they do it at the beginning because people tend to click off before the video ends, but for heaven sake!

I started my channel in June (2024) at 55 years old because I needed a hobby. I wanted to highlight the reality of playing slot machines because all I was seeing were huge wins that people who obviously already have a lot of money were getting. And also to show that you can still have fun playing, even though you don't "hit it big." Either I'm making all the mistakes in this video or people just don't want to see anything but big wins LOL I will implement some of these changes and see what happens. Thank you for sharing with us!

This absolutely blew my mind. I was thinking that because the total watch hours show up in my analytics, I never thought of the distinction between long form and short form content, but when you check in the earn tab, you're right- it only shows the long form watch time hours. Slightly disheartening, especially since there's not a distinction in the analytics tab so I wouldn't have known for a long time. 😵‍💫 Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! :)

Thank you SO much for #4, Virginia! I couldn't agree more with the idea of not creating 1 min. shorts. And I'm so happy to see that your subs felt the same way! I knew I didn't want to create them, but I didn't have a specific reason. Everything you said made perfect sense - especially the fact that people who are scrolling through shorts are rarely interested in long form content! You just saved me SO much time - like, days or weeks before I would have figured it out myself!

Such good advice, but I'm laughing at myself because of how long it took me to get to the real topic on my last video. To my defense, the video was about my legacy and I didn't want it to be so serious throughout the whole video. "Dawnversations" is such a good channel name.

Thanks for this video! I had no idea that watch time for shorts doesn’t count towards monetization. Could you let me know where you found this information? I’d love to start my own research on this topic.

Another great video to learn from, and, thanks for reviewing my recently released video. 😊
I followed all of your teachings as best I could for this one and hoped I was doing it, not just right but right for who I am and what I am here to share.
I do agree with you about researching some more to see what people are searching for as I do find the title and thumbnail tricky to come up with that explain the topic. 🙏🏻

Hi there! You're doing great. loved your story. You are helping people by sharing your lessons. Yes this process takes time to get right. But you're on the right track! Just remember it's all about human connection with your niche. So we want the thumbnail to feel authentic. If you make the thumbnail mostly graphics and your face is small we lose that connection. 😊

Thanks so much for your videos. I have a small travel channel in Australia. I’ve heard it said that if retention rate is dropping too much in the first 30secs to delete that section. Is that true? Wouldn’t it affect the flow of the rest of the video? Thanks again.

As a creator I've learned the value of getting the to point right from the start! In videos I do this I get more views. I guess because people are staying and liking the vids.
As a viewer I can say, if someone doesn't get to the point I do click off. And nothing irks me more than when someone says, "Let's jump right in" after 5 minutes of mindless droning!
(I'm guilty of this and looking into the editing in UA-cam studio after posting)
Hey Virginia, maybe you could talk about how to do that. Or do you already have a video on that? Also are there any consequences to watch time when editing out parts. Does the old watch time still count and only change watch time moving forward? Probably a silly questions but I think about little things like this, being a small channel. (Small meaning not monetized yet)

Yes you can edit out the dips in the youtube editor. I can certainly help your retention.

5 common mistakes; my key takeaway
    1. Not planning introductions : WTF in the first 10 seconds
    2. Confusing Thumbnail- I fall victim of this one here
