Thank you, i really like hearing from people who feel the same about this topic, especially because big gaming youtubers who make these games famous in the first place never really comment on how lazy these are. And ye, for the first FNAF, i agree, i mean pretty much everything was original, it was super innovative and i myself remember being terrified of it as a child so it did its job quite well, although it wouldnt have the same effect on me now that ive experienced some truely breathtaking horror titles.

I had a bit of an idea for a game that i don't think is too bad. Your not really in a maze, your instead in a softplay with no other people visible. You are 7, and after a while you make a mess with a burger, causing "Mr coldboi" to enter the structure. You must go deeper into the weirdly big structure, avoiding making more messes, buying items from Scowl and eventuality obtaining a shotgun.

a lot of mascot horror game devs forget that they're making a HORROR game! Either that, or they're just intentionally making it less scary so it can be more kid friendly, which is the exact opposite of what a horror game should be. Mascot horror games these days are just adventure games where you walk around an empty building completing puzzles and finding objects while a "scary" monster is chasing you. And lets not forget the lore that involves missing/dead children and employees of the building that are either haunting the monsters or became the monsters because of some big business man that wanted to turn people into monsters for some ungodly reason, because FNAF did it, which means every other mascot horror game needs to do it to, apparently.
Its valid question and i mean theres a lot of misconceptions about unity and unreal, people tend to think unreal makes better ganes, but thats not at all true. Its about how passionate and talented the person behind the game is. I really love Unity and i dont think id move on from it for a long time. Thanks btw im so glad im inspiring peolle
Wait, if my game is about a robot that’s not an animal and is just a robot, would that mean I am making robot horror or will it still be mascot horror? Just asking.
I mean... anything can be a mascot but i guess the current landscape of mascot horror is just animals, but maybe youll go on to invent your very own branch of mascot horror? Thats a cool thing to think about
Mascot horror is basically a character representing some sort of company being the main antagonist of a horror. It could probably be done, maybe the robot being like a main “character” in advertisements for the robotics company. I mean hey someone could probably make a horror about Jake from State Farm and that could probably count.

I’m surprised there isn’t any horror game without any monster. Like the only traces of monster is ambience and some flashes of a figure in the dark that disappears in a few seconds
I fuckin love stuff like that, id recommend "the complex: found footage" if youre interested in the backrooms at all, no monster, just atmosphere, brilliant game
There are some like that, the reception on them is a bit mixed. It eventually becomes predictable that the person isn't going to pull anything though since intent carries through design. It can lead to them becoming progressively less scary because the thing is no threat.
The true reason why there are little games like that is because they lack tension. When the only thing the games rely on is atmosphere, it will get boring real quick after 15-30 mins and become a walking simulator. It's a nice idea but doesn't work as a game, which require actual gameplay to work.
I actually like the monster design, it gives off evil scarecrow vibes, which is currently a rather undersaturated market. Stinky would be right at home in a corn maze.

Waiting out the night just trying to survive, the break of dawn feels all the more welcome.
This guy is actually amazing hes replying to everyones comment AND hearting them def got my sub
Hahaha thanks so much. I love reading comments
To be honest, out of all the horror games in recent times, this is probably one of them.
Thank you, thats really saying something about the current state of indie horror haha
My nonexistent child suffered a level 6 heart attack just by the intro. My grandma on the other side of the world fell down a flight of stairs the moment Stinky said "it's sleeping time!" I also barely made it out alive, having to visit the world's best doctors to help recover my magnitude 3 PTSD. Very scary, would recommend playing.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dammmnnnn im in for one hell of a lawsuit....
this man really roasted every modern horror indie game in 1 minute
yep, and i dont feel bad for one second
still probably scarier than anything in security breach 💀
100%. I really wanna make a game just like one of them and prove that is not that difficult to actually make it into a great horror experience. Though first ill need to finish my current project
I like fnaf sb the open world stuff and secrets is fun to me
Ruin
Yeah ruin spooky😮
What about the ruin DLC?
Turning off the lights is actually a cool idea for an objective, YOU'RE the one making the level harder to navigate and spookier
Yea tbh i really did think it was a great idea, but i couldnt help but add it to this game because i think the storyline is too funny
i would not be surprised if either Fusion, Jay or Mark play this game tbh
Id be over the moon hahaha
This feels like something id find on the google play store. So i say you did a pretty good job
Yea exactly hahahah
I cant believe that you came up with such an original and spooky idea! The Junpscares totally add to everything and just make it amazing! Truly the pinnacle of horror.
i very much enjoy just how much you rag on this brand of lazy, half baked "walk away" sims in this video. so cathartic to see somebody else hate them as much as i do.
on this topic, though, i wanna take this opportunity to say that the first FNAF shouldn't be folded in with this lot. that game had genuine innovations to the genre and had an intelligently designed, tense atmosphere. what sucks is stuff like security breach which IS walk away simulator with jumpscares
FNAF is just as bad as Poppy, Bendy, BanBan and all the other funko pop "horror games."
@@puresport9 i'm talking about only the first one. i hate those types of games too but the first is not that. please at least read the comment thoroughly before you just start arguing with me lol
I am impressed you managed to make a better garten of banban in 5 hours
I had a bit of an idea for a game that i don't think is too bad.
Your not really in a maze, your instead in a softplay with no other people visible. You are 7, and after a while you make a mess with a burger, causing "Mr coldboi" to enter the structure. You must go deeper into the weirdly big structure, avoiding making more messes, buying items from Scowl and eventuality obtaining a shotgun.
I have never been so puzzled by a storyline
genuinely what does any of that mean
Guys
I know this is crazy
But I think this guy is younger than the age of 8

The small tables around a big chair killed me why is that so funny
Hahaha im so glad it made someone laugh, i think we have the same sense of humour
It's not cliché, it's better. I mean, look at the optimization; Stinky doesn't even have 280 thousand vertices!
Damnnnn thats such a missed opportunity
the funny thing is that "it seeks" is just this but done actually well.
Oh good heavens, this did give me quite the fright indeed! Thou shook my boots truley!
This comment was quite exquisit if i do say so myself
@@Wishbone_Games Oh i do thank you kind sir for this compliment thou has ascended upon me
Ngl, I actually kinda like the area design, the forest inside and the random chairs and boxes around, even the table chair, makes it kinda... fascinating.
UA-cam randomly suggested this video to me but for good game your example is Little NIghtmares so just for that subscribed
Hahahahahaha little nightmares is honestly in my top 3, what do you think of the new announcement for the third one? Im a little bit scared because of Tarsier stepping down from development
Love how this could get as much popularity as garten of ban ban
Easily, i mean imagine i put just as much time into this as they did for banban, this would actually blow up
@@Wishbone_Games5 minutes?
High quality jump scare
I absoltely love how youtube has detected this game as being Garten of Banban. Really says a lot.
I KNOWWWWW its wayyy too good, so ironic
The best part is that UA-cam thinks this game is Garten of BanBan in the description.
Still probably scarier than 90% of indie horror games
Thats the sad truth, im hoping this video in some way changes someones mind about making another mindless game, and actually try something new
THE JUMPSCARE AUDIO IS HILARIOUS!!
Hahahahaha thank you, (made it myself)
You can scare the player with a trashy jump scare
AKA ME (a child)
Yea but i have no respect for jumpscares, theyre like the fart joke of horror
@@Wishbone_Games Well jumpscares can be good if you use it correctly, like iron lung.
@@vratti2236 Yea thats different though because there was an entire games worth of tension building up to one main scare at the end
@@Wishbone_Games True, but jumpscares can be good if you know how to use them and dont over use it.

"I made a horror game the wrong way" featuring Gaten of Banban
"I made a horror game the wrong way(i made garten of banban)"
Ah yes, dead children, my fav type of horror
apparently its everyones favourite
This is literally the entirety of rec room horror right now,
It's all ignited blank. And it's just a maze with a random character, sometimes they add more to it like; a puzzel or decoration.
This is very cool, like a ventilator
Damnnn thats when you know its cool
I love how this is still better than anything garten of banban has done
Having to turn off lights to progress is an awesome idea, you should use it for another game!
Yea thinking back to it now, i think this could make for a very interesting game, maybe where you are safe in the light, but you must turn all of them off to complete your objective... ive already got a few great ideas for a mechanic like this, thanks for bringing it back up and making me think a little
6:07 bro there was no motivation or soul behind that scream😂 show how out of it he is
It was very late man i just wanted to sleep hahaha, i think the scream was my agony of working on this game
hope you enjoyed the sleep then XD@@Wishbone_Games
Should let Manlybadasshero play this since he's a type to play niche part of horror games (and some popular ones too) he probably will play this too
Havent heard of him but ill try see if hed be interested in playing my game, id have to warn him how bad it is first tho haha
@@Wishbone_Games he's pretty well known in horror game community. He even sometimes voice acting in some indie games (even if he hate his voice though) and a few developers made a bunch of references of him. (Or even calling him out when he type in his name in the game)

Omg the massive chair with the little tables makes it perfect
Haahhahahaha i know
Truly innovating
Okay but why does this look like something I'd unironically play
If you need any ideas by the way, I'd be happy to help you out
Then go unironically play it pls
Hahah my brain is overflowing with ideas so i think im okay thanks
@Wishbone_Games I want to play it but I don't have a device to properly play it on
All I have is a crappy chrome book which can only run games from the Google play store 😭😭
i love how it thinks its garten of banban
As someone who loves fnaf its my favorite franchise honestly i love this video indie horor has really fell off especially with poppy playtime and ban ban fnaf was going that route but then we were saved by fnaf sb ruin hopefully fnaf wont fall into this cliche and hw2 keeps being good and scary
Yea i loved fnaf growing up, and the first one still holds a special place in my heart, though it brought along so many clones that sorta discredit its initial innovativeness
People pretending FNAF is anything other than an over-congratulated jumpscare simulator is funny.
this is like that CGP Grey video "7 Ways to Maximize Misery" but for horror game design
Hahahhaha
How long until Stinky starts showing up on UA-cam Kids and getting bootleg plushies made of him? I'm betting less than two weeks.
Oh god, its probably already happening im ngl
As of writing this it's only been four days. I may have set the mark too high.
@@treehousegames7903 Yea it will happen any second now
Kinda reminds me of Cookie Clicker. It started as a parody of "numbers go up" games but spawned an entire genre of games that do the same thing unironically.
a lot of mascot horror game devs forget that they're making a HORROR game!
What if you made a game based on nostalgic memes
Heyy, thats pretty good

I want to ask a question, WHY IS EVERYONE USING UNITY, INSTED OF UNREAL ENGINE!? (by the way, Videos like this Are inspiring in my Opinion).
Cause it uses another coding language i think and its harder to learn i think.
UA-cam: ah yes poppy playtime. Exactly how i remember it.
Yea i mean that just proves that you can make that game in 5 hours lolllll
Wait, if my game is about a robot that’s not an animal and is just a robot, would that mean I am making robot horror or will it still be mascot horror? Just asking.
I mean... anything can be a mascot but i guess the current landscape of mascot horror is just animals, but maybe youll go on to invent your very own branch of mascot horror? Thats a cool thing to think about
Mascot horror is basically a character representing some sort of company being the main antagonist of a horror. It could probably be done, maybe the robot being like a main “character” in advertisements for the robotics company. I mean hey someone could probably make a horror about Jake from State Farm and that could probably count.
ten million likes on tik tok, $50K kickstarter funded in two hours, top wishlisted game on steam for the next six months, IGN articles, indie GOTY contender. Fantastic work 🤑
Hahhahahaha thank would be the absolute dream. Thank you
I’m surprised there isn’t any horror game without any monster.
Nice
Thank you :)
