The tether mechanic is actually so cool- it would be neat if there was a little secret at the end of a basement or bunker hallway that is just out of reach for the player with the longest tether
I genuinely would love to see this as a full on game, it is just so cool! Do you consider developing more this game concept? Or is someone considering on developing this as a full on indie game?
@@luciboi8182 I doubt that since it's a horror game. Although subnautica has it's moment's it designed to be an open world survival game with a plot line about escaping the planet. Probably not going to end up too similar.
@@luciboi8182really the only similarity’s are underwater and a big creature chases you, which is vague enough to not be considered a copy, though I’m sure at least parts of it were inspired by subnautica
How do you actually wrap your pixelated textures so evenly on your models? That's the real secret right there. When I was watching your old minecraft mob vids I thought you were making every pixel its own face. The question with the tether system isn't "how do you make this in 24 hours", it is "why" lol. Incredible work.
I'm not surprised either but it's still annoying when people are convinced they know better about someone they've never met :P Like "As a game dev this is impossible in 3 weeks" shush, no it isn't, it's just hard. It helps if you know how to plan, crunch and not procrastinate, know how to avoid getting stuck... I wouldn't be surprised if a UA-camr who is used to having sponsporship deadlines would actually be BETTER at these skills than an indie game dev who is used to working at their own pace. Or even a professional dev who is great at developing but doesn't have project management skills, because in a company that is usually done by separate people. And some people are just really fast learners haha. Not that it couldn't still be faked, it's UA-cam man, but I believe him.
Game design Uni student here, little tip. If it was in unity, that teather system would've been much easier. Just add a rigid body component to the rope and add a collider, setting it to interact with things with the tags you want it to e.g. "Environment", "Obstacle" etc. And you can set the collider to "is trigger" if you want it colliding with an object to cause something to happen. Not trying to critique you, I'm making a pixel infinite scrolling side shooter for my first project, so I know how tough making a game is. Just giving a pointer. I'm a 3D Asset modeller by chosen career path, and your videos are great inspiration.
I actually love the textures. For some reason, they reminded me of bad parenting. The textures seemed eerie, if that makes sense. I think a great way you could make horror games would be psychological horror. Those sorts of games are more about story than aesthetics, so it may be easier. However, coming up with actually unsettling stories can be hard.
this is such a fun project to watch you make, its definitely feasible considering your skill, im also impressive that you didnt get stuck like 10 hours+ making sure that tether system works
I don‘t understand how people don‘t believe him. Making a game of the quality he did (not that it wasn‘t bad but definitely unfinished) is absolutely possible. The guy saying he‘s a game dev is just a really bad game dev. Or he‘s lying.
I'm following you work like almost a year. And I believe that you do everything of this. And it's inspiring me in my own works) you do a great job so keep going! 👍🏼
If you were able to make something like the tether system and made a somewhat cohesive environment in ONE single day, I can't even fathom what you'd be able to do if you had like 5 months, or even a year to develop a game. Also, the visuals give me SM64 vibes.
W vid idea idk: make it 2 player coop, one in the sub, that is like in lethal company monitoring, giving infos and most importantly able to reel the other player in.
If you're planning to update the game, may I suggest adding cheats? Not that the game is hard and needs cheat codes, I'm talking about the funny cheat codes: the ones that change textures, spawn npcs and pretty much anything else that could cause a funny chaos.
Wow, this... This is actually good horror. I don't believe it, actually game dev UA-camrs try to make a horror game and it's not remotely scary. but then this random 3d modeler comes in and blows them all out of the water (pun intended). Like, it makes the player paranoid and everything, it creates tension when you accidentally make a sound, this is really good (pro tip, making the player paranoid and using their imagination to create horror is way more important than making the monster look scary, is all about that psychological horror)
You don't need to do everything in 24 hours to grab attention to your videos, you have axloving community and others can join if they want. I'd love to see your next video be full effort because I love your talent

what is wrong with you
- Meet Daniel
- Daniel makes a masterpiece
- Daniel dissappears
- Daniel returns
- Daniel makes another masterpiece
- The cycle repeats
best explanation you can put it in words.
This bro is a menace, he literally does everything.
Supposed devs doubting it took 3 weeks... Have never seen a devlog or game jam in their lives, those poor guys
Indeed. Don't even know if they're actual game developers.

Making a full game would probably get it too close to subnautica

As a full-time programmer who works in Unity, I really admire the rope mechanic. That's not an easy programming exercise and you did it in 5 hours.

The one thing I learned about game development from Daniel is: "Be a 3D artist, and you can make a presentable game in 24 hours"
I like that the standard for it being impossible is because they can’t do it. Like bro just because you can’t does mean nobody else can.
PLEASE do 24 more hours or something, this needs a sequal!
