as a 3D generalist in the industry, it's VERY possible to create a game in that amount of time. I like to think i'm pretty efficient with my work and sometimes the assets (with textures) take no time whatsoever It's all about how efficient you are
I genuinely would love to see this as a full on game, it is just so cool! Do you consider developing more this game concept? Or is someone considering on developing this as a full on indie game?
@@luciboi8182 I doubt that since it's a horror game. Although subnautica has it's moment's it designed to be an open world survival game with a plot line about escaping the planet. Probably not going to end up too similar.

Game design Uni student here, little tip. If it was in unity, that teather system would've been much easier. Just add a rigid body component to the rope and add a collider, setting it to interact with things with the tags you want it to e.g. "Environment", "Obstacle" etc. And you can set the collider to "is trigger" if you want it colliding with an object to cause something to happen. Not trying to critique you, I'm making a pixel infinite scrolling side shooter for my first project, so I know how tough making a game is. Just giving a pointer. I'm a 3D Asset modeller by chosen career path, and your videos are great inspiration.
This is unrelated, but do you have any tips for someone starting game dev from scratch? I have, at most, strictly followed a tutorial on how to make a top down shooter in Game Maker Studio 2. But is there a more efficient way to grasp the concepts without learning the whole language at once?
@lukeskycenna7920 Depends which engine you want to use. Unity uses C# and is code based programming, while Unreal Engine uses C++ and uses a node based Blueprint system. There are plenty of tutorials for both, and there's forums where you can find answers to specific things you want to know.
I'm not surprised either but it's still annoying when people are convinced they know better about someone they've never met :P Like "As a game dev this is impossible in 3 weeks" shush, no it isn't, it's just hard. It helps if you know how to plan, crunch and not procrastinate, know how to avoid getting stuck... I wouldn't be surprised if a UA-camr who is used to having sponsporship deadlines would actually be BETTER at these skills than an indie game dev who is used to working at their own pace. Or even a professional dev who is great at developing but doesn't have project management skills, because in a company that is usually done by separate people. And some people are just really fast learners haha. Not that it couldn't still be faked, it's UA-cam man, but I believe him.
Yeeaaaaahhhhh, I feel like people sometimes just lie about stuff to make it seem like they're better than people, It honestly sucks when you're just trying to do something and then someones like "that is physically impossible, as a "this" i can confirm that you lied". That game dev who doubted and said "as I game developer myself" is just stupid. Bros braincell didn't think that game jam exists where excellent games are made under a short time limit, What an idiot!
I actually love the textures. For some reason, they reminded me of bad parenting. The textures seemed eerie, if that makes sense. I think a great way you could make horror games would be psychological horror. Those sorts of games are more about story than aesthetics, so it may be easier. However, coming up with actually unsettling stories can be hard.
How do you actually wrap your pixelated textures so evenly on your models? That's the real secret right there. When I was watching your old minecraft mob vids I thought you were making every pixel its own face. The question with the tether system isn't "how do you make this in 24 hours", it is "why" lol. Incredible work.
