I loved this! When I was a new flight attendant in 1976, I took my parents on my first trip overseas to England and Ireland. My paternal grandfather left Ireland from Killarney in 1912 and came to the United States. We stayed in Killarney in an old castle like property that was just lovely. We kissed the Blarney Stone and did all of the wonderful tourist things in south west Ireland. I bought all of my Irish Crystal back then when it was still made in Ireland and I have it to this day with only one piece broken! Thank you so much! You picked a great time to go...tourist light!
You always do a splendiferous job of providing a complete overview of an area and highlighting the various experiences to be had. Thanks, I hope you didn't have to spend too much time in the stocks.
I went to Blarney over 35 years ago, and remember it well. I don't remember the climb up or down, strangely, but I do vividly remember grabbing those bars and the assistant grabbing me. I also remember the view from the top. Definitely an adventure! It's lovely to see things all green - everything is brown here in New England! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Gosh, you practically had the place to yourselves. I was there in early June. Even in the pouring rain, the wait time to get into the castle was over 2 hours. I wasn't interested in kissing a rock millions kissed before me so I enjoyed to beautiful gardens and hidden spaces. Magical.
Indeed, another splendiferous and wonderfully made video! (Splendiferous is a word!😂) Hands down, best travel UA-cam channel out there. Thank you for sharing. I agree that December may be a little cold and breezy, but it’s the best time to avoid crowds. Kissing that stone looked a bit treacherous, but kind of fun. Adding Blarney village and castle to my list. Thank you for your amazing videography and Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
What an amazing tour around the castle, I'm so pleased I don't live in those times, harsh and unforgiving are words that come to mind. Simon and Will you have ended the year with an amazing vlog. You have taken us to so many amazing places this year and previous ones, thank you so much. My best wishes for you both over the festive season. Take care =-)
Your films are always beautiful, with excellent commentary, compliments! I always look forward to the next film. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2024!
I'm a disabled person, and I feel like I was there! All the way from the middle of the USA. Splendid video! Simply amazing! You really took your time setting up sooo many wonderful shots! Just fantastic. i cannot thank you enough for your hard work. I might never be able to kiss the Blarney Stone in person, but thanks to you I paused the video and kissed my TV screen hahahaha!
Absolutely captivating journey through Blarney Castle and the village! Your storytelling about the myths and legends surrounding the Blarney Stone added a magical touch. The tips and transport information will surely be helpful for anyone planning a visit. The stroll through the charming village was a delightful bonus. Thanks for sharing this immersive experience, and your winter visit insight is valuable for future travelers. Looking forward to more fantastic explorations on your channel! 🏰🍀✨
As always, a wonderfully interesting and educational video. Myself, I never thought it was so much trouble to kiss the Blarney Stone and certainly not in such a manner. Thanks for your posts.
Well what a great start to morning to find you two here with a new video. It was so nice to see more of you both as well as the beautiful scenery. My Mums ancestors were from this area of Ireland so it was lovely to see it on a walkabout with you. Looking forward to next weeks show. Cheers Cheryl 🙂
Lovely video, loved the castle , bet that got some ghosts stories, couldn’t climb those stairs like you did very brave, wish both of you merry Christmas and new year
The walk from the Blarney Inn to the Castle, the river, the scenery during Christmas season, the town was one of the highlights of my life. Beautiful and poignant. The Inn breakfast was outstanding and the hostess was a joy.
Those spiral steps are scary - especially for an old lady like me - but the views from the top of the castle are magnificent! I think anyone hanging upside down at that great height to kiss the Blarney Stone is brave indeed. Thanks for another well-done video!
Hi Simon and Will. I’m just popping in to leave a quick comment. I’ll come back to watch the video another time as I’m not well at the moment. Merry Christmas to you and yours. In case you’re not posting again til the New Year, I hope 2024 brings only good things your way. Thank you both for the gift of your beautiful well crafted videos throughout the year. You’ve brought me much joy. God Bless. Xoxo 🎅🏻🎄🌟❄️☃️🍺🍻❤️🇨🇦🇬🇧
Hello Jill sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon. Thanks so much for watching and commenting this year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Take care ❤️
Blarney Castle is very beautiful and surrounded by nature. Stunning weather as well. Visited a few Castles in Ireland, but not this one. Loved the drone shots, too. Whenever I visit these kind of Castles I wish I had a drone. Congratulations for kissing the stone. Merry x-mas🎉.
As always what a lovely video and travellog. It’s great travelling with you two to both some familiar (and visited )and some not so familiar places. Always well filmed and edited.
This was a wonderful csstle tour, but the heights got to me. The grounds walkabout was very beautiful & calming. Having now kissed the blarney, I wish you much health & happiness. Merry Christmas!
Outstanding! Blarney Castle is so rustic & just amazing! Narrow staircase though! I was claustrophobic just watching you climb up there! Whew! Glad you made it though! I'm not sure I could have! I believe I would have just waved at you from below! LOL I especially loved the gardens though! A lot more spacious for me! They are truly unique & very unusual! I was thrilled with every step that you took & filmed! Truly delightful! Indeed! Ireland is absolutely beautiful! The scenery & landscape there is just breathtaking! I also loved the Wool Mill Shop! Such beautiful items with such excellent quality! Incredible! I would really love to visit there & choose some lovely things! Sorry you got into some trouble there near the end! It must have been bad to be put in the stocks like that! I hope they will let you out by next week & that you will behave so you won't be thrown into the stocks again like that! LOL. Thank you for sharing this delightful experience! Blessings to you both!
Thank you for the lovely comment, thankfully I was pardoned and allowed to fly back to London! 😂 It was a lovely weekend even if the wind was a problem, we were blessed with mostly sunshine and dry weather. Next week we show the drives we took to some stunning scenery for the sunday of our weekend trip. I am just finishing off the editing now! So glad you enjoyed it. Merry Christmas.
@@MemorySeekers My pleasure! Whew! I'm so glad they let you off the hook there. "Twould get pretty nippy out there in December! Not the best way to spend Christmas either! LOL. Very interesting, thanks - I think you have to be be dedicated or something, to hike to the top to kiss an old stone! I wonder if they've ever lost anyone?!! Looking forward to the next episode, not at all what I was expecting from Ireland, always expect gentle green hills! The castle appears to be in good condition, though you definitely need to watch your step! I don't like heights and recall freaking out at the top of Clifford's Tower many years ago. I started thinking about how long those stones had been standing, and that they might not last a minute longer. :0 They should recommend Yoga classes before kissing the stone, and perhaps a Chiropractor (don't know what you call them in the UK) afterwards. The gardens are very interesting, and I loved the Witches Kitchen. I do like foxgloves! A nice jaunt for you, going to Ireland during a winter holiday. From what I hear it rains most of the time anyway...keeps everyone's complexion fresh and hydrated. Looking forward to your road trip next week!
They are Chiropractors in the UK or Physiotherapy, it certainly was not an experience I would try again!
