My wife own the PRS S2 Standard 22 Electric Guitar in McCarty Tobacco Sunburst. It's an incredible guitar. So well made, comfortable to play and has a fantastic sound.
The best part of that model is NO STUPID BIRDS!!!! I respect a man who loves his mother but holy crap, those birds are why i never bought a PRS until i noticed that the S2 Standard 22 had dot inlays. And i never thought I'd ever be super excited for dot inlays but when compared to the stupid birds, definitely.
Gotta tip my hat to Andertons! They had a new but dinged up B-stock S2 Standard 22 in Antique white and it will be in my hands for 900€ and change. I have an SE Custom 24 but the neck was always just too thin. This is basically my one-guitar-for-life guitar. Couldn't be more stoked!
These guitars slipped under my radar, didn’t know they existed. Now I got to try and hopefully buy one, they sound great, price sounds fantastic, I dig the look. I’ve been playing my John Mayer se, silver sky a lot. Like the quack. But thanks for another very interesting video. Wow.
I'm confused. Usually PRS guitars give me the ick, but these actually look kinda cool. Maybe it's the lack of birds and gaudy overly-figured woods. Even the blue one looks okay.
These Standard 24 PRS' are really nice. I seem to remember Rhett Shull's friend (maybe at Dipped in tone) showing him one to try and win him over. And that was the one I did like both the sound and look of. (Silver Sky are nice too, given what Fender are trying to charge).
@@joemooney8344 yip, that was it. Nice raw looking and sounding guitars. Not too spangly and overdressed, unlike most typical PRS. Silver Sky are great too
I have x3 SEs One S2 Studio and one C24 Love them all However on my custom PARKHURST guitar it is fitted with a push push switch which I really like With this arrangement you are never going to pull the knob off 😁😂😂😂👍😎
I wish locking tuners were an option instead. I’m not fussy on them at all. Although in fairness I’ve only seen the fender style. I think maybe the PRS ones look different. I can’t stand the look of those ones with the disc on the back of the headstock
I looked and sorted by lowest price - 1599. So this video did not age well. I get your point, and they are still a great value since they added the core electronics - make sure you only buy 2024+ if you want the core electronics - yes you want that.
Great prices for the S2, but imo those guitars are overpriced to begin with. Just cuz it’s assembled in the United States shouldn’t make it that much more, when it still has the same parts as the SE range. I think they should at least use the core pickups, when charging almost 2k.
For guitars with locking tuners do they only work with one Key. Can you get the key changed if you lose the original or do you have to get all new locks? It seems a lot of trouble to go to just to stop people messing with your tuning, is it a common problem like trailer theft. I have used a locking hitch which seems a good idea. I suppose without the right key a thief wouldn’t be able to play the guitar in tune unless the key can be easily copied.
@@AlexLionRiley I thought you had to have a key every time you played the guitar and according to Rick Beato modern songs don’t change key which is why I understand people use locking tuners now as they didn’t exist in the 60s. But it must be awkward if you want to change key for anther song. You could always do a whole set in one key I suppose. I wonder if locking tuners is the reason people write less complex tunes now.
@@stephenrussell6074Pretty sure you’re confusing locking tuners with a locking tremolo. Locking tuners have zero impact on your ability to change keys, you just turn the tuning pegs like normal. With a locking tremolo, you’re locked into one key.
I like the one lee has its like an 80s color and about time prs... Prs was around in the 80s right so why don't they have flashy 80 s colors ... Ones that people can afford
After owning an '87 PRS Custom 24, an SE Custom 24 (which Paul signed!) and a USA Silver Sky, I may be one of the few that does not enjoy playing their guitars: Or at least these guitars. I want to love them but just don't.
There is a particular portion of us who are not excited by the PRS brand. The gig bag says it all. Unlike the Epiphone factory which is wholly owned by Gibson the PRS SE factory is not owned by PRS and makes many other budget-branded Asian guitars, it seems like the end product falls short of the hype.
What's wrong with the gig bag? I'm not trying to be rude, but why is the gig bag the reason some people aren't excited? I mean, I get we want cases with American guitars, but most companies don't have cases with their lower end American guitars. Gibson has a semisoft shell I believe, and Fender has a gigbag. Prs gigbags are some of the better quality ones anyway. And the CorTec factory makes some of the best import guitars out there today.
If anything the SE range is lauded and doesn't fall short. It doesn't matter who owns the factory - it's the quality control over what leaves that does.
Actually they have a dedicated Indonesian factory that only makes PRS SE guitars, there’s a whole video on it on the PRS YT channel. Yea it’s CorTek, but it’s owned and run by PRS and they’re not made alongside other Cort manufactured guitars
You said it right the first time lee I live in Maryland and it sounds like mara land... It doesn't sound like Mary land .... I've never heard anyone here pronounce it that way LoL 😂 it's always outsiders
1700,- retail with a gig bag, amazing, such huge price drops are always a good indication for the real value of these instruments 🙄..these are by far my least favourite PRS guitars, save some more bucks and get a "real" PRS standard or maybe bstock custom, even a full spected PRS SE for 1000,- would be a much smarter choice here imo, cheers 🎸🎸
Unless you're American, I'm not sure why anyone would care that a guitar was built there - are a luthier's skills improved with easy access to Cheez Wiz and Twinkies?
The problem is that factories in the far east are tasked with making guitars to hit a lower price point, so the quality is compromised and then everyone associates them with that standard of product. I think most people would be surprised at what they could do if one of the big American brands went to them and said “make me a guitar that I can sell for $4000”
@@Chris.1812 Interesting thought - although Fender and Gibson are both too invested in the idea that their USA built instruments have intrinsic value that goes beyond their quality / playability. My point (I think) was that if you don't live in America, and have the the cash to spend on an American instrument, why not instead explore the idea of buying one made by a luthier in your own country? Obviously there are reasons why people wouldn't want to do this, e.g. buying a guitar similar to one played by an artist that has inspired them. I'm not sure this would apply to PRS though - I certainly wasn't inspired to pick up a guitar by my dentist - but each to their own.
There's an intriguing vid on the prs channel, "From The Archives" series, a couple of weeks ago. The first prototype models they drove around with drumming up orders. One dots, one birds. They expected the orders to be for plain top and dots and very few to like the birds, but the dealers mostly went for flames and birds. So, historically they never thought birds would be popular, but that is what most people want.
A US-made one for under $400 would likely be in multiple pieces lol. But you can find older Korean-made SEs for that range, and they can still be fantastic. I recently got a 2004 Soapbar II for about that, and it's so well built and the frets are impeccable.
how could they ever sell that kind of guitars for a whooping 1699 even without a hardshell case that will cost 250 in addition to that..i just don`t get it, but the people who payed the full price will just go mad right now about this suspicious sell out here for sure😂...peace 🙏🙏

S2 Standard series is PRS’ most underrated range. It just sucks how expensive guitars are getting, but this is a great deal.
The standard S2’s are unbelievable value and unbelievably solid gigging machines.
Lee's phrasing and dynamics have drastically leveled up these last few years. Wow, incredible improvement!

@Stephen Russel there is no key needed. There is a turn wheel that you tighten by hand. It's part of the tuner.
The 'lock' is to hold the string in place to minimise any slipping and tuning issues. Not to minimise tampering by people.
