In 2016 I played one of these and it captured my imagination. Couldn't afford it at the time (or for the next few years) but finally last month I was in the position to go after my dream guitar. But I hadn't seen or played one in a long time. Found this video to see if it sounded good like I'd remembered, and sealed the deal. Finally have one, actually the same model/color as what Mick's got here. It's phenomenal.
Yup: If you 're not into shredding; High gain shredding and distortion is a poor way to show off the tones of a guitar. Rob is an amazing session guitarist; but I don't find it musical to my ear.
I like the new people u all are using, it give us a fresh face, a fresh sound, we love the caption and Rob but it is nice seeing and hearing some new stuff , like the demo you don't allways have to turn up the amp and peg the pedal and play the same licks over and over again , good job !
Amen. It ruins some otherwise greet videos, all the pinch harmonics and making every single amp/pedal combination sound exactly like a dimed JCM 800. Don't get me wrong, it's a great tone, SOMETIMES. No hate intended in this comment.
I’ve been umming and ahhing about what my next guitar should be (Jazzmaster, tele, ES the list goes on) and this has really tipped the balance for me. Perfect for the styles of music I play, such a lovely warmth. Spot on.
Awesome stuff guys!! Love this demo format, and great to see two such fine musicians having such a lot of fun talking guitars and making music. This new PRS S2 Vela is a really amazing instrument too, and as you rightly say, a perfect guitar for the gigging muso to play down the pubs n clubs. The perfect partner to my original 2008 Mira too, and now firmly on my gear wish-list. I can hear those Andertons tills ringing already!!!!Thanks guys :-)
I'm mainly a Fender player, but got one of these on kind of an impulse, and really love it. I had been intrigued by the PRS gear for a long time, played a few, and was always impressed by the general build quality, and the aesthetics of the guitars, but just wasn't seriously interested enough to justify dropping major cash. While the Vela isn't cheap, about $1,300, it's certainly comparable to Fender models at that price. I would even say the overall quality and attention to detail could be said to be superior to Fender guitars, at the same price. Doesn't sound like a strat, but it's not supposed to, though with the push pull it comes pretty close honestly. For the money, it's a well made, great sounding guitar, that would be equally at home in the studio or on the stage. And it's kind of "SG" like in terms of construction, not a lot of bells and whistles, but nonetheless everything you need tone-wise. Hats off to PRS for continuing to listen to their customers and producing mass quantities of guitar while maintaining this level of quality.
GretschBeastFan Just about all of the S2s remind me of SGs. But the quality is far above other comparably priced us made guitars. The fretwork is excellent, the necks are sublime. Very stiff and stable. Every one I have played has felt extremely resonant. The only deal with the s2s is the switches and knobs get a bit tired after a year or two but who really cares when you get the same neck feel as a gloss finished core at less than half the price.
Very good demo ... great you had these 2 different FX->amp setups ... absolutely beautiful tones both! Great playing ... so just my cup of tea ... thanks guys!
It's crazy every video has to have people leaving negative stuff in the comment section. When I get online I always excited when I search for a certain piece of gear and am lucky enough to find a demo video. ESPECIALLY if that demo video is any of the guys from Andertons! Great playing style from you both. Was torn between this or a ghost fret but I think I'm just gonna have to get both! Lol thanks for all the videos guys
It doesn’t get much better than listening to these guys playing bluesy melodic riffs. You guys need to do an album, I’d happily buy it if it sounded as awesome as the intro
+TimothyPage06 Mick says: "Hi Timothy, thanks for the love. I do have a job. Since I left Guitarist/Future as editor in chief of the guitar titles, I now run my own tiny media business (just me and freelancers!) that works in and around the guitar industry. I'm lucky enough to work with some great people including Andertons, TheGigRig and Guitarist, so that's why I'm in various videos. Thanks for watching!"
I can honestly tell you this is shockingly my favorite PRS guitar and the only one I have kept I think this time I will surely keep this PRS I have bought $5000 PRS guitars and hated them. I am truly a Gibson and Eastman person more than anything but even this guitar I am about to buy a second one and do some experimenting with some different pick ups as well. I love the charm tone and the fat neck pick up and certainly want to keep the one I have stock, but I am getting Lindy Fralin to custom wine me a set match to the guitar Under his son Buckeroo pick ups, blues boy combo. Thanks again guys for the great demo great guitar truly and Pete you look like you’re actually enjoying playing it. Thanks again. 2:32
Dare I say that I prefer s2 to core? I mean the tone is just amazing and about looks, while PRS core is extravaganza AF these dumped down versions with the pickguards somehow appeal more to me.
Even though Mick is a lemon he gets an A+ for knowing what Dearmond pickups were and being honest that not all of us love the fancy birds and frou flame wood! A working man's tool can look nice and still play like a dream without costing a dentist's wage to buy them. Oh, and Pete is my favorite player from these series so way to go!!
This is pretty much the perfect pop/blues guitar with nice cleans and fat enough bottom to do double duty as a rock guitar.. Very nice guitar with very nice pickups. Extremely versatile.. I like the review a lot. Let's not mention the tapped humbucker sound (PRS should look at what Yamaha did with the Revstar)...
Still loving my S2 Starla but would love a white Vela with birds to partner it! Hey Mick, quick question... what reverb were you using on this - love the lo fi sound of it?
Fantastic video, immense musicians, fabulous amps and guitars! what else can you ask for? Please make more guys! Perhaps the only criticism I have would be, less talk, more rock!
Funny hosts. Enjoyed it. But the Vela is a strange monster. Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very unique. Loved it.

I just want you to know, Mick and Peter, that this video is the reason why I bought this guitar.
How do you like it 4 yrs later?
I just learned about the Vela and I need one in my life. :)
Bought my satin vela 4 years ago. Still loving it. Records beautifully.@@GringoMouth
Maybe one of the most under appreciated guitars ever. The satin s2 version is unreal.
Andertons is knocking it out of the park with this new video format. Love me some Mick and Danish Pete!
+Elliot Grey more of this please!
All these years later... Anderton's clearly was onto something... They've done okay!
As much as Rob and Capt are entertaining, this was WAAY better actually review, with much much better quality of review and playing. More please.
+SunnySalamander I like Rob but shredding is a totally boring guitar demonstration.
Yup: If you 're not into shredding; High gain shredding and distortion is a poor way to show off the tones of a guitar. Rob is an amazing session guitarist; but I don't find it musical to my ear.
These two together always bring the smiles. Talent, passion and good humor.
These two have such a delightful chemistry together. I love the Mick and Pete combo! Way to be awesome fellas.
Pete plays with so much soul.. a real talent for wringing the most out of every note

+Brad Carroll glad I ant the only one who thinks this check out my channel Brad thanks
That was a beautiful intro. I am pumped about these side anderton's videos. Keep em coming, absolutely love the great players with a personality.
Whenever I feel like I don't want to play guitar anymore I come watch this video and play along and listen and it makes me feel better
I’ve been umming and ahhing about what my next guitar should be (Jazzmaster, tele, ES the list goes on) and this has really tipped the balance for me. Perfect for the styles of music I play, such a lovely warmth. Spot on.
Just bought mine tonight.
It's actually great for the review to have two reviewers playing the same guitar with different amps and pedals.
Nice chilled review, barely a crunch in the room, they fed off each other great at the start. Danish Pete is a cool cat,
Beautiful sound, i love that guitar and all Prs guitars in general.
Danish Pete sounds so soulful. Solid playing guys!
Mick + Pete = very interesting jams, really diggin it guys!

I really enjoyed it and I agree with you comments about the a amps and pedals making such a huge difference to the sounds etc,
Great demo, same guitars with totally different amp & pedal setups really show you what you're getting from the guitar.
I'm mainly a Fender player, but got one of these on kind of an impulse, and really love it. Great playing ... so just my cup of tea ... thanks guys!
Mick AND Peter? You're just spoiling us now.
Both pickups sound very musical and "useful". Also I really dig the shape of these things. Great demo as always
It's crazy every video has to have people leaving negative stuff in the comment section. When I get online I always excited when I search for a certain piece of gear and am lucky enough to find a demo video. ESPECIALLY if that demo video is any of the guys from Andertons! Was torn between this or a ghost fret but I think I'm just gonna have to get both! Lol thanks for all the videos guys
Such amazing tones, wow!
Great vid!! Very much enjoying Mick n Peter ... great players and great insights.
I love the way these two review guitars. Both play beautifully. I just bought one. Can't wait for it to get here.
It doesn’t get much better than listening to these guys playing bluesy melodic riffs. You guys need to do an album, I’d happily buy it if it sounded as awesome as the intro
Does Mick even have a job or does he just bum around various guitar youtube channels at this point?!
(Love you Mick, you're amazing!)
+TimothyPage06 Mick says: "Hi Timothy, thanks for the love. I do have a job. I really dig your stuff with Dan on TheGigRig! Keep up all the awesome work dude.

I wish they'd release a MIRA semi hollow with that classic bridge in the future.
That first song Danish Pete played was incredible! Does anyone know what he was doing?
I would love to see a tone comparison between this guitar and the new Studio version.
Great review, + I like the rapport between Mick & Pete , great playing.
1st PRS I would consider getting 😊
Great vid of a great guitar (I love mine!) More of this format, please!
You two guys are the perfect guitar style blend so the videos are the best on youtube by a country mile...keep em comin. ;)
Love these guys and they are not only great players but give you an honest, fair- minded review. Keep them coming fellas! Thank you.
OMGGGG the tone in this one is insane
Loving The Peter and Mike vids, keep em coming :)
These Peter and Mick videos are beginning to rival TheGigRig videos! Some of the tastiest playing on the web!
OMGGGGG!!!! What are those amp/pedal settings?!?!?!
Dare I say that I prefer s2 to core? I mean the tone is just amazing and about looks, while PRS core is extravaganza AF these dumped down versions with the pickguards somehow appeal more to me.
Mick's vibrato is absolutely killer!
The fact you can get these used in nearly mint condition for under $1000 is an absolute steal. Such a great and unique guitar
Oh God!.. This tone is so beautiful and relaxing :)
That are some soft, smooth, and sexy tones right there.
Extremely beautiful!
The opening jam was sublime
Bring it back! Best duo
Pete , I saw your video from NAMM playing the S2 Studio. I would love to see you guys do a comparison video of the Vela and Studio.
Mick makes the best faces reviewing gear. Great tone guys! I love higher gain, but sometimes less is always more. Cheers!
man. im jealous. the s2 sounds better than my 90s core, just evidence that PRS is always making their guitars better and better
great video, great idea. love both guys, keep them commin !!!
I miss this duo.
Mick is taking over the interwebs! =D
Hey Mick! Playing the "interesting" drinking game on this video too! keep up with the good work, specially with ThatPedalShow! Cheers from Argentina
a guy in my grandad's band has one of these and it sounds great
The beginning was amazing!
Mick is just so knowledgeable.
I own many
PRS from 91 on. But I'd take any of them (10 top included) with satin finishes over anything else after owning this Vela
An awesome guitar ...
Love these guys!
that D-type SC on the neck sounds almost acoustic....incredible..
Love these guys :) great stuff
Oh my GOSH what an Intro!
Awesome tones!
You guy together are incredible
like a souped up Gretsch Corvette.. I WANT !! good review.
Is there any hum on the neck s.c.
+Salisbury Simon Hi Simon, Mick is using a TC Electronic Hall Of Fame in this video...
+Andertons Music Co Thank you! Great Lo Fi tone - very swampy!
I can't quite pick out what they're doing in the intro. can someone help me out with what scales they're using or anything?
Yeah, but has anyone actually checked intonation?
Is it really good, or is it not?
(would be really glad about an answer)
@Casey James Guitar Thank you!
how long have you guys been playing and did you start with paying for lessons or did you use any content you could find on the internet ?
very tempting guitar...
Fantastic video, immense musicians, fabulous amps and guitars! what else can you ask for? Please make more guys!
Perhaps the only criticism I have would be, less talk, more rock!
Great video, can you list the pedals that you used?
+Chuck J Hi Chuck, thanks for the comment. About 11.50 mins into the video there are shots of the pedalboards and they chat about the pedals they use.
+Andertons Music Co Thanks
What do you feel is the tonal difference between the Vela and the Mira?
How can the right guitar sound so amazing?
ForzaViola its called Peter Honoré
Jonathan Nelson Man you're right! Incredible!
Wouldn't mind owning that Tone King Amp either :-)
These guys together is just plain BadAss!
Damn, dat dere is some strictly sweet songs... I like it!
Watched this video...went to Reverb...ordered a Vela. Great review and ridiculous tone.
Does anybody know what song Mick was teasing at the beginning of the video? I swear I've heard it somewhere before and it's driving me nuts!
Glenn Tan Prince's Purple Rain
Marshall Timbuleng thanks brother!
That sounded great.
The best sounding PRS's, imo.
now I want a vela as well.
Funny hosts. Enjoyed it. But the
Vela is a strange monster. Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very unique. Loved it.
You are becoming damn fun!
Andertons: want more like this?...
me: yes please!!!
These tones makes me want to be one!!!
No fancy-ass carved top here xD
that intro, does anyone know anything similar we can learn ?
"This is the bit where the money is" hahaha
Thx guys.
Brilliant!
vela or starla?
My GAS is strong for this guitar. Nice demo btw
+nitemunky76 Too strong it seems. Bought one.
+nitemunky76 Met too!! After watching this video about 100x
