Being a beginner to the sport, I got stronger and had lots of fun with that 12-40t set up before I upgraded to 12-46t. Thanks to you guys, my Gt is complete and getting ready to take on another aggressive hardtail project.
Thank you for this type of content. At 39 years old, I'm fixing to dive headfirst into MTB. I'm excited and nervous but your videos on the GT Agressor Pro and the Ozark Trail Ridge gave me some confidence that I can go out and buy a budget bike and gradually upgrade over time on a budget and get some performance similar to the higher end bikes. I'm excited to begin my journey and your channel helps out a lot.
Loved the opener, and you put that nugget in there with Wolfman goofing up on what today's video was on purpose... imo, go with a budget fork as the next upgrade and then bars and stem and brakes. Nice to see viewers rides.
Love these upgrade videos yall! Yes,... It's nice to able to upgrade over time and build a competent bike with hand picked parts without breaking the bank all at once. I'm actually in the process of building a Gravity full suspension 29r up and yall's videos have given me a ton of great ideas! Hope yall have a great rest of the weekend!!!
ps... It's amazing how great the $50 Bucklos cranks are, not to mention many of the other Chinese parts!. There is alot of good stuff out there for half of what the "brand name" parts cost, not all, but the diamonds in the rough are out there for sure!
Amazing video, I just bought the same bike and was being told by different bike shops that two achieve this I would have to replace more parts and spend more money, thanks to your video I have a better understanding on how it works
Ive owned GTs and Diamondbacks over th eyears. Recently picked up an agressor pro with an XL frame. Iv added DHRs to it and some basic creature conforts but no performance. Your videos make it easier for anoob to work on his own gear. Keep up the good work.
Ha! Thanks for the VR love! That bike is now white. And I did change out the seat, grips, and pedals! LOL I thought Wolfman would appreciate the colored pedals….😂😂
Love your content wolftick! I have been working on upgrading my XL Frame GT Ricochet. I just upgraded my tires recently. I plan to do crankset next. Its been a fun process of rebuilding this bike. Next time I think I will just start with a frame and build from there though.
Aggressors coming along nicely, I think I'd go with a stem or fork (Or both) next. Never really understood the oval chainring thing, then I tried one on you recommendation and Id never go back to round now, makes such a difference. Great to see some viewers rides 👍 Take care 🍻😎👍
Does it have a tapered headtube or 30.9 seat post? Its called an aggressor yet it has the least aggressive headtube angle. Its an entry MTB designed for dads with kids
lol, you sound like me 2 years ago with my Gt avalanche….Now I have a Giant Trance Full Suspension with 1000+ in upgrades and a Marin Gravel bike upgraded.. you WILL change..
I liked that GIUNTA Dude's GT, why, cause I do allot of road, sidewalks, sand and grass, also allot of cutting throughs, I do everything on my bike (one of them) that normal folks do in the cars, meaning shopping, bank, Walmart, corner store trips, library, around the lake and park riding, That's that Dude's bike... Although his looks much better than mine though, Mine bike in spewing about is a 2015 probably older but I bought new, KHS 21" frame 26" wheels and the other upgrades are paddles, raceface bars 30mm, and it came with lockout forks, some Suntour variant, so id like a bike like that GT build to draft from !😉
Try switching those tires up if they are the same width. Ikon tires are very friendly when you pedal uphill and the barzo usually are used for fronts mated with mezcals on the back. 😊❤
I have an Aggressor Comp 29, I love it, was thinking of switching to a tougher trail bike in the next year, not sure. I'm a little fearful the bike wouldnt handle drops and whatnot, I'm used to my park BMX bike thats around 3 times the price, grew up on BMX, non racing. Other than getting flats due to the bike still being on stock tires with tubes, its held up well for a year on the British Columbia trails, I know I could do drops and jumps but I dont want my bike to break so not sure if I should sell and change to a higher end bike. I'm mostly worried about frame stability, as its a Xcountry bike, not a true "trail" bike. Eyeing up the Marin San Quentin, but not sure, I really wish more affordable hardtails were Chromoly like a park bmx, nice and strong, I dont care about weight whatsoever, just strength.
My wife and I recently purchased new model GT Aggressor Pros from Dicks, for exercise purposes. She got a medium and I got a large. She is all about urban asphalt trail riding. I used to ride BMX bikes when I was younger and was looking to do some dirt trail riding with some jumps here and there (nothing major as I'm about to be 43 and just getting back into it) along with riding with my wife. I was SUPER disappointed with it as the forks pretty much were useless for any kind of jumping. I had a GT Pro Series 24" back in the day and it was a very solid and capable bike. I know it's a different style of bike, but c'mon... GT right?! Anyway, after switching to hydraulic brakes, a Suntour Epixon 120mm fork, Continental Crossking tires 2.2 front and 2.3 rear, new aluminum wheels, 1x8 Bolany crankset conversion, Deckas 32t oval chainring, aluminum chain guide, Rock Bros lightweight nylon flat pedals, 60mm 7 degree stem, 720mm Wake handlebars, new grips, and a new saddle... It's a completely different bike!! Just need to add a dropper post. So thankful for finding your channel. The father-son duo is awesome!! Thanks for what you do, especially with the Aggressor Pro!!
I will ride the Cat's Meow with you , one of these days , then I'd go with the Wolfman to have some craft beer to that place where he appears in the introduction.
Hey bro, what do you like better since I'm just a touch over your height, a small 27.5 or a small 29er? I'm about to go down a size. Great video as always.
You know, hikers they all have issues😆😆 Hot and muggy baby that’s how it’s been in Cleveland to we think the next upgrade on this bike should be a handlebar mounted chicken nugget holder so you could eat chicken nuggets in slow motion while you’re riding 😀😀🤘🤘
🤣🤣 Ok!! Lol Juat not the ones from Chick FIL A!! Those things taste awful 😖 Thanks for the comment fellas. And hot and muggy in Cleveland??? Cmon now!! Yall don't know muggy 🤣🤣😉😉
i really wanna throw an oval chainring on my GT but the one I want is by Absolute Black and it costs $90 after shipping, but man is that a gorgeous chain ring that i will never buy lol.
I recently upgraded to an 11-40T cassette using the existing microshift but I cannot get the shifter to get onto the 40T gear without the chain binding on the derailleur. Any ideas?
Great videos! I had a question on the fork I recently upgraded forks to a 120mm and now I can’t flat foot the bike. Before I had 2 inches of room but can the fork change that much of geometry?
Yes it can, you're adding extra height at the front which also raises the bottom bracket height. A lot of people talk as if by going from a 100mm fork to 120mm you'll be raising the front end by exactly 20mm, but depending on which make/model forks you were switching out it could be more than that. If you check the crown to axle measurement on both forks you'll see what the real difference is.
Stock derailleur doesn’t have a clutch. My son was losing his chain every 2 min. Maybe chain is tighter on this but I upgraded his to an acolyte 1x8. Not great but decent for $.
Well, this is a big discussion. GT recommends nothing wider then a 2.4 but I have ridden on a 2.8 amd have never had a problem. Just be sire to try out the tire size to avoid rubbing 👍
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS thank you for your reply! I saw one of your videos where you install the tires. I got myself 2.8 for the front and 2.4 for the rear. Thank you!
I really have to send in pics of my S29 for viewers rides. Lol I keep procrastinating. I keep saying I'll send some in when my project is finished but honestly, with mountain bikes, the project is never finished, just like the story of Cody Rhodes versus Roman Reigns this past Wrestlemania. 😆😆😆
Im not sure what people coming onto this channel and being bike snobs are trying to accomplish. This channel has proven over and over that a budget bike with some smart upgrades can easily be as good as any high end bike bought at your lbs. These people have been brainwashed...
I got out yesterday at about 3pm and rode my Large frame KHS 26" about 12 miles and man it was hot, rode next to the four lane Hwy down to my bank to make a deposit, after the ATM I stepped inside for five minutes and chilled in the AC, idk how hot it was and who cares if you friggin dying lol, Anyways I'm 57 and weigh about 190lbs, all the way home I was thinking about back in the day when I was 15 yrs old, probably 80lbs at 5'7" and how easy it was to ride my bmx all friggin day in the middle of the summer. 🇺🇸😏🌊💧🍉🧊🍇🥝
Btw I found, a new pair of Milwaukee gloves size M, a sheet of 1200 wet/dry, and a 4" elbow schedule 40 new, I'm always finding shite out riding on the road. I originally planned on stopping by Dollar general and buy some beer but it was way too hot and all I could think of was water which I had in my backpack.😉
I too ponder that same thing about my younger self and riding single speed with the most uncomfortable bike seat you can get before not having a seat at all along with no lights at night
I'm still here. Still loving my GT.
Great vlog
