Snail Mail was one of the things that kept me sane during the early months of the pandemic! I think I watched the video for Thinning on a daily basis for a month!!!
Love snail mail. Valentine was a great album! Madonna is my favorite off of it, but Forever(Sailing), Glory, Ben Franklin, and Valentine are really good
Super talented and likable young woman. Really related to what she said about the Elliot Smith album. Sometimes when I listen to a record with too many great tracks I get overwhelmed.
I wondered whether this had been taped before or after Lindsey's surgery. Hadn't seen this advertised/referenced on Snail Mail's Ig. She does sound a bit hoarse.
@@austintrousdale2397 When Lindsey explained it in one of the interviews they surgery was due to how she speaks (kinda horse)and not to her singing...I'm pretty sure this is before cause she keeps releasing shorts of herself at home recovering.
Bill Evans, Joao Gilberto, Elliott Smith, Akiko Yano and Ryuichi Sakamoto? I immediately went out and bought Valentine. It's as great as I expected it would be.
Absolutely love Snail Mail. Immediately fell in love with Lindsey's voice the first time I heard it. Pity Amoeba forgot to take the security sensor off the the t-shirt though.
Lindsey has a great range of favorite records. Sakamoto is a genius and I would be curious if she has ever listened to the music he collaborated on with David Sylvian? Off handed comment, I don't see many of the guests on this series bringing up Sylvian records...I guess most of his music is lost in time.
I see a lot of interest in Japan nowadays, but his solo stuff- which I love and is fascinating- I guess is just a tough dig for many, but oh so worth exploring.
Yes. Low is being heralded this year for a very abrasive, striped down glitch noise record but Sylvian went down that path over a decade before with his collaborations with Christian Fennez. A direction that alienated him from much of his fan base. But Sylvian showed his remarkably versatility with those works. I saw KC this year but wondered if an inclusion of a song from Fripp/Sylvian would have made a great concert even better...because of the groove and funk found in the songs from that collaboration. Having arguably the three best drummers in the world due wonders with an instrumental version of "Darshan" would been a real treat.
She is the greatest. I cannot overstate my love for her and her music! I thought about this video when seeing Snail Mail last week because the statues they had on stage reminded me of Nirvana a bit.
Very similar taste. Did not expect that. Meat Puppets, Elliot Smith, Jazz, and Japanese Funk. Plus a great movie choice too. Just recently found out about Snail Mail from buying records. Went to buy a Fiery Furnaces album and was recommended the Valentine album. Great stumble upon. ♥
Nice picks. I saw BJM at the theatre on opening night where they handed out Malkovich face cut outs on sticks and everyone watched the film through the eyes of JM.
its crazy before she pulled out the Elliott smith album I was thinking of how id legitimately pay to see him do one of these god I miss him and I've never even met him.
As a Japanese I’m impressed with the Japanese music choices! Hit me up Snail Mail if you wanna talk about Japanese music, I have many recommendations 😉
akiko yano, jōao gilberto & bill evans. excellent taste. and it's cool how spinning bill evans got her in the mood to make music (her new album valentine)
snail mail is such a great artist. I love her voice, and how authentic her music sounds. Super underrated artist
HER NAME ISNT SNAIL MAIL
her look reminds me some 2000ish david bowie
Yuh.
Totally, late 90’s and very early 2000’s.
That is David Bowie
Now you reminded me of the goofy ahh Bowie grinnig and pointing at the camera, dammit.
This is exactly how my 14 ur old dresses. She even kind of acts like her too. Uncanny
Snail Mail was one of the things that kept me sane during the early months of the pandemic! I think I watched the video for Thinning on a daily basis for a month!!!
Saw those In Utero statues at an exhibit in Seattle like 10 years ago. I was in awe.
she is so cuuute. I love her so much
Love snail mail. Valentine was a great album! Madonna is my favorite off of it, but Forever(Sailing), Glory, Ben Franklin, and Valentine are really good
"Mia" is my favorite song from Valentine. It's quite the onion chopping song.
Always inspired by how much modern indie/rock artists do listen and love jazz

No, she's really not.
@@DAP-mi7ck here’s that attention you wanted
I’m not familiar with this artist, but based off their picks I’m going to explore their discography!

she is the queen of black metal right now. I don´t like it though since i am more of a rap drill fan
Big big fan. Lots of love
I love her music and she comes across as a lovely person who would be genuinely cool to know. Looking forward to more new music soon!
Love lindsey,I'm so happy she's feeling better!!!

Mad props for the Bill Evans pick. Great album.
Scott LaFaro's bass work on the album is legendary. I like the way Evans leaves space in his playing to allow the bass to really shine through.
Hadn't heard of him until this video. I had Undercurrent the next day, I'm obsessed.
Love that she picked up the Elliot smith!!!
Absolutely love Snail Mail. Immediately fell in love with Lindsey's voice the first time I heard it. Pity Amoeba forgot to take the security sensor off the the t-shirt though.
So gratifying to hear that she appreciates Meat Puppets. I like her even more now.

Valentine is the best album of 2021 period and you ain’t convincing me otherwise
I hope she enjoys the Akiko Yano album. It's basically perfect.
Factoid: Spike Jonze is from Montgomery County Maryland, which next to Howard County Maryland, where Lindsey is from
I love her scoping out that Psychic TV record.
“Peace piece” by Bill Evans is such a masterpiece.

Akiko Yano and Ryuichi Sakamoto were once married, as well as performing together with YMO, but I'm sure you already knew that :)
i am in love
Tell her I’ll build a tour prop and donate it, just depends on what she’d like, but metal art, glass, fiberglass and wood could all be incorporated
