  • A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician Inspects one of the cleanest examples of the Lexus LS400 which is the original model that launched Lexus into the world
So how does a 1999 Lexus LS400 stay in this pristine condition after all these years? That has to do with this family's dedication to this car.
This car has been kept in the family and well taken care of and it shows. This car isn't some garage queen with 10k 0r 20k miles. it does have 141k miles and going very strong with a full service history.
The condition of this is truly impressive and the lesson we all could learn from this car is this. You can keep your car in good condition even if you live in the rust belt and You can preserve your car but still drive it and enjoy it.

As a 1991 LS400 owner, I can say without a doubt that it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned...period. Purchased with 287,000 miles 11 years ago it still gets me around as a daily driver with close to 400k miles. I will never buy another brand again.

When Toyota began its quest to manufacture its own V8, they purchased, dismantled and examined V8 from manufacturers from America to Germany. Those engineers laughed at Toyota for going down this road. Who’s laughing now? Buttery smooth engines and meticulously made to perfection. Hats off to this owner for being so meticulous in his care of his car.

    • @SlightReturn666

The student clearly exceeded the master, because Toyota/Lexus have now built several V8s that are some of the best engines known to man. How they could cut over to a turbo'd V6 in the current LS is beyond me. The company just absolutely owned the concept of "naturally aspirated V8" through and through!!

It has more interior space than the long wheelbase luxury car these days. Full size spare tire. All switches are at the right place. Still missed The Nakamichi sound system and the 6 Disc Cd changer in the glove compartment

It wasn’t in quite the pristine condition of this one, but was still VERY well preserved. Turns out it belonged to the dealer principal himself, who had bought it new. Back in 1990, my dentist at that time bought a Lexus LS 400, and I took care of the routine maintenance for it.
When he sold his business and moved away 10 years or so later the Lexus went with him. He had bought a small Honda and later on a Volvo during the time he owned the Lexus, but the Lexus was one of my favorite vehicles. In fact we he bought the Volvo, his wife refused to drive the Volvo. She felt safe and secure in the Lexus. Beautiful car!

The factory cargo net sleeve, Lexus first aid kit, etc, were still in the trunk seemingly untouched/unopened as if the trunk was never used. Factory floor mats were still wrapped in the original plastic. Whoever owned this car before me was meticulous about keeping it clean. Even the interior, underneath, and engine bay was perfect. Since I bought it, I've been putting the same effort into keeping it as well-kept as it was the day I purchased it.

I now drive an absolutely immaculate Lexus IS350 in red, it has 90k kms (about 57k miles) and STILL there is more driver's seat wear than this car. I have some wheel damage (although minor) and a bit of very minor damage on the rear wheel arch, aside from that it's spectacular ..but THIS is still a step up. For my car to be PERFECT like this, i'll need a new driver's seat cover (although it's actually quite good TBH) and some gutter rash repair on the wheels. My car lives in a garage as I work from home, but still does school runs, weekend activities and some week night activities, it's certainly a daily driver, but still this LS is nuts.

It reminds me of my one-owner, mint-condition, 90,000 mile 2000 LE Camry V6 that I inherit. That 1MZ-FE engine drives smooth like a Lexus. Something about automobiles back in those days; they just have a timeless style and handling to them that just objectively looks and feels good. God bless the Golden Age days of Toyota/Lexus!

Great video and thank you for sharing this with us, amazing state this car is in and has been well taking care of. 1990 was the first LS400 as my father bought a used one back in the day over a Mercedes’ he had his eye on. He was NOT a Japanese Car fan, but this car was amazing and converted my Dad over to the Lexus side. He later traded it in to buy another Lexus a beautiful 2008 ES350.

AMD, I miss sedans that remember they are sedans. In other words, the front and back seats are both designed to comfortably accommodate people. Is there a single sedan made now that has generous leg and head room in the rear? 🤔

They have screwed the design of today's sedans. I brought them till they made them too low to the ground for me to get into a real tight compartment compared to the older models. Loved the older Sedans. My 56 Olds was a nice sedan when I was a teen. Do miss them.
