I love this guy’s how to build a skateboard series mainly because, first of all, he goes a lot more into what will fit with what, like what trucks will fit with what wheels, which i wish more videos went into, but he also goes into what brands you should buy from. Thats been my biggest issue since I started researching what I wanted for my first personal board because of all the different brands there are, and that ive been recommended. Keep this up!
I appreciate the kind words! I've been feeling unmotivated to make videos because I've been so busy at my real full-time job, but this comment just gave me a boost I needed. I appreciate you!
I don't know why I am watching this because I've been skating for 19 years but I'm glad I did. One thing I would like to add is that is that truck size is not an exact science, you can ride any size trucks on any size board, it just comes down to personal preference. I personally like skating trucks a little bit bigger than the deck, for example, I usually skate an 8.2 or a 8.38 size deck and I am currently on Indy 149 hollows. (149 Indys are "made" for a 8.5 deck ) try different products and find what works best for you, I have skated every truck brand except Destructo, and I find redeeming characteristics in every brand. Ace is my favorite, but I have pairs of Independent, and Tensors. Enjoy skating my friends!!
Except Krux, those are the only trucks I couldn't find anything redeeming about, but truthfully I've only ever had the K4 trucks and the K5 supposedly fixed a lot of issues that the K4 had. (Also this is just a personal preference, you might love them but I found them unskateable.)
You can slam mini logo then say you skate tensor, the other budget brand. Ive been meaning to get a pair of mini logo to try out but used to skate tensor i had the old rodney mullen trucks with the nose/tail slide pice. I loved them
Your quality of editing and stuff is so damn good is better than some 1m sub channels😂 please keep up uploading your content cuz is informative and fun and it helps me being a beginner skater🤙🏽
Tbh i had no idea trucks were so complicated 😭 thanks so much for explaining everything!! P.S. you missed an opportunity at the end to say “so that’s skateboard trucks in a *kingnut* shell” 😂😂😂 …ok I’ll go home
heyy i have been watching your videos on here and on tiktok for the past two days because I am a beginner and I already ordered my deck. I do have a question what truck size should I use for a 8.25 deck?
Hey homie! Best trucks for an 8.25 deck would be either, 8, 8.125, or 8.25 trucks. Those measurements are all in the Axle Width, so make sure you are looking at that size! I grabbed this information from the truck sizing chart in my description. Take a peak at that if you are still confused. 😊
Heyo I know how late I am to the video but if someone could possibly answer this that would be great I am thinking of getting a 8.25 deck with 8.25 axle size but I want 55-56mm wheels so I was wondering if my wheels would stick out from underneath my board if I got 56mm wheels and a 8.25 deck and truck size
You might need to get risers to prevent wheel bite if turning hard or shorter trucks. Not really size issue with wheels since they will be in more where Axel is
Go to a skate shop, a local one, and actually talk to people irl and all questions and stuff, and support real economies, and you won't have the problem of buying the wrong trucks😊
I bought a complete online and they put 7.75's on my 8.25 I couldn't even balance on it on my living room rug sent them right back id always go a lil bigger if I couldn't get exact
i dont know should i buy low mid or high trucks i been skating lil bit over a year and i can do tricks and grinds and i am comfrotable on my board pls ansver me
This is an old comment i know, but come on.. a 7.75??? The smallest anyone should go is 8.25, and tensor is one of the weakest truck brands, theres no point of riding them, buy thunders, indies, aces. Avoid ventures, tensor and other irrelevant brands
For Tensors measurements, it's going to be 5.25. These days people will say don't go with a small setup, but back in the early 2000s, it wasn't uncommon to ride a 7.75" to 8" board. That being said people who ride smaller setups usually have much smaller feet or are looking to do more technical tricks. The other person who commented isn't wrong 8.25" isn't a bad option as you will have more space on the board and will be more stable.
@gabriel Terrible, Terrible advice. First off this is probably a child, so saying anything below a 8.25 is unacceptable is completely wrong, what if this dude is 5'2 100lbs? An 8.25 would be way to big for a kid like that. When I started skating in 2004 everyone was riding 7.5 decks so it can easily be done (personally I prefer an 8.38 but I'm 31 and 6 foot 4inches tall!) Secondly ventures is one of the oldest and most respected brands in the industry. They haven't survived 30+ years for no reason. They are one of the best street trucks on the market. Thirdly Tensors are not that bad at all. I have a pair of them on one of my street setups and they have lasted me 9 months! They have one of the smoother grinds in the industry and have mimicked the turning geometry of Independent so they actually turn really well now. They are not a bad a truck at all and they are cheap, so you are going to tell someone that's just getting into skateboarding to not get a cheaper truck?? When they don't even know if they are going to continue skateboarding??? Gtfo here man, your just a a young dude that's just following what's trendy in the industry right now without even probably giving any of these products a shot. Kids, I encourage you to try different brands, find what works and is comfortable for you, if you are young a 7.75 or an 8.00 may be a good starting point and it's always easier to go up a size then down a size. Ignore this toxic advice and do your own thing.
Moral of the story could also be DON'T ORDER ONLINE go to your local shop where they may have expertise and hook it up with the correct equipment and good recommendations. If you go enough and you're nice, you never know, they might start hooking it up with deals. Also you might make friends there you can go skate with!! 03:25 - of course some people live in areas where there aren't local shops so your advise is great. Just saying, your local shop might give the best recommendations
I’m so glad skate manufacturers are adopting decimal inches (even if they are still using the fractions technically ) Never mind. The truck height says 54mm for no reason. That is 2.1259 inches. Just list it in inches bruh
@@MidnightSnackSkateboarding i got my 11 yr ild this setup. Quasi 8.0 Indy 139 Silver 11 & Spitfire f4s 54mm. Is that too high ? Thise trucks are 55mm tall.
But what about Braille Skateboards?!Lol! Just kidding. My friend bought his first board from and they charged him premium price for a beginner board. He could have got a pro complete set level for what he paid. That left me very sour towards them! He is a adult he should have researched better but the kids.. I feel that this is bad for kids thinking their getting a good deal instead get taken advantage of.
Ayy why the Mini Logo hate? I thought it was under powell peralta umbrella? I've never had a shotty mini logo product that doesn't do the same as a brand that costs double... Other than that love the vids bro!

The pivot cup is another component of the trucks worth mentioning with that being said great video and thanks for all the great content
hey i'm in the process of building my first skateboard and this was actually super helpful and kept me from buying the wrong trucks tysm

dud eI love your content, tone and how much fun you have. You make me want to start my own channel. Your tips are all great. Thanks bro!
Thanks Dan! I appreciate it. 😀
I just found this channel, this guy is awesome!, Zach is on point with his skate tips!
Thank you for the kind words! 😊

no comment it's cold
Trucks were the only thing I didn’t cheap out on, just bought the new thunder hollows so they should be tough cause it’s forged steel
Completely agree! If you're gonna spend extra money on one part of your setup, it should be your trucks.
Mini Logo trucks are actually AWESOME believe it or not. They are a low truck but they're surprisingly awesome.
Just like
yair goldzweig said how tf are you so underated, you helped me so much with my very first board thanks m8
whats the music in the beginning of the video?
Does it matter if the Kingpin sticks out more than the hangar? Thank you for sharing! :-)
Yes, if you plan on grinding, especially.
Your quality of editing and stuff is so damn good is better than some 1m sub channels😂 please keep up uploading your content cuz is informative and fun and it helps me being a beginner skater🤙🏽

Whats your opinion on thunders?
Personally, have never used them. However, what i've seen/heard they are also a great brand.
yoo the bored you put for 8.0 its fire
where can i find it

opinion on tensor alloy raw? im going to buy them but idk if its any good?
I believe those are what I am currently using. I really dig them! They are solid trucks and don't break the bank.
Go to a skate shop, a local one, and actually talk to people irl and all questions and stuff, and support real economies, and you won't have the problem of buying the wrong trucks😊
ilysm tysm for entertaining me ! 🤩
thanks for watching, homie!

What about NHE online I ride Indies only
How the fuck are you so underrated over here?????? Love your work mate!
Skvělá mikina.
What size trucks should I use for a 7.75 skateboard I subbed
129s or 5.0
#1 Thunder #2 Venture #3 Ace #4 Indy
Ventures are weak af, aces are inconsistent and unstable, thunders are consistent, turny and strong, indies are like thunders but more meaty and heavy
i dont know should i buy low mid or high trucks i been skating lil bit over a year and i can do tricks and grinds and i am comfrotable on my board pls ansver me
depends on what size wheel you are riding
But if it doesn’t matter mid or high are good for trick boards
Based on what I’ve seen that is
Great video. What size tensor trucks do you recommend for a 7.75 board?

Any board can ride any truck size, also try not to order trucks online, go to local skate shops.
Yup.
Tip: Buy from LOCAL SHOP!
I ride a 8.0 deck is 7.75 trucks
good enough for my deck I need you to
reply please

Tip: Ordering trucks online, MAKE SURE IT'S A PAIR! Some sale SINGLE trucks...
Is $58 for trucks 1? Or it comes with 2?
do you think 8.25 tensor alloys will fit my 8" deck?
I just bought mini logo trucks 😂🙆😭 whoops
Mini logo is deff way better than tensors lmfao
First ! 🤩
Hey man.

2nd Comment ayo?
ayo!
Simple. Buy indies. Problem solved. They're skateboard equivalent of the Nokia 3310 or Toyota Landcruiser.
mini logo trucks are great for beginners. they have semi turning and temse up before gettjng wheel bite to eliminate wheels bite
