I still ride casterboards now, also in skateparks, and for me the feeling on these 2 wheels devices is the best thing I love in this world. And that's my skateboard that stay lonely and covered by dust in the garage 😁
I actually took mine to the local skate park. I got pretty good at it. I could drop into the bowl, ollie, and do grinds. I was better at using a ripstick than a regular skateboard, and I felt that the ripstick was actually easier because it could be controlled very precisely without having to kickturn constantly.
Thank youuuuuu I totally agree, it was easier to learn, the manouverability was a lot more precise and any tricks you did on it was extra impressive because it was a nightmare to actually do any kicks.
Skating on the waveboard is so insanely easy tbh, never fell once and now im using it for skating when i injure myself from falling off my skateboard lmao
I rode a ripstick 15 years ago when I was 10. I skated for a whole year and never fell. I also rode a classic skateboard and fell 5 times without learning. 3 years ago, I decided to try a Penny board, a longboard, a regular skate again, and I fell from all of them, and it's simply impossible to control, especially since it's impossible to brake on them, and even more dangerous to jump, because there is no stability. A year ago I purchased the original roller surfer, I am now 25 years old, I never fell last summer, although I traveled completely around my huge city. It is very safe to jump off on it, because there is a fulcrum due to balance. You can safely drive through any crowd of people, because the control is extremely precise. I'm the only one in town who rides it. In 5 years, I will launch my own handicraft production in my city, because this is the best thing that humanity has created. I can ride it easy up the slope 5km when any skater on the classics gets tired.
Apparently there is a Ripstik called "Ripstik Air" and it is supposedly better than a regular Ripstik for speed and control, it's lighter weight and durability. I had no idea it even existed, but it checks out because the worlds best Ripstiker's use the Air instead of normal Ripstiks.
bro im telling u dawg, man I remember too my first nasty fall was me chilling going down hill on a ripstick and thinking while I'm almost down the hill how to stop this thing xD
The one thing its extraordinary for is fine-tuning balance. It demands more from your brain than any other thing you'll ride. Training on it will do more for your balance than near well anything else. Feed back is near telepathic and input response time is immediate; this means you learn faster on it how to balance than with other skating devices. Probably short of hockey skates, but don't know anything about ice-hockey, it seems pretty rad to move and balance on what amounts to the edge of a knife.
it's weird, i learned how to ride a rip-stick in the summer going into 7th grade and rode them here n there till 2015 then i got my own and at 28 i can still ride it decently well but i was never able to pick up riding a skateboard
I had some ofbrand waveboard as a kid which I dusted off last winter. Shredded the tires. Got a Maxboard (basically a Ripstick Air popular in germany for school's) two days ago though and damnnation is it smooth. I believe they should've marketed these casterboards more for people who want to surf and snowboard. It really makes you learn how to properly distribute your weight between your feet and how to shift the weight toes to heels. I feel so excited to hopefully snowboard again next winter and I believe using my casterboard will heavily improve my basic snowboard skills. Carving and cruising feels great so far, but I'm still fearful of speed and downhill, since as mentioned in the video, how the hell does one brake for gods sake!
The ripstik doesn't have a big following is for 2 big reasons - not many people know how to push on it (yes like a skateboard) and it was marketed too much like a skateboard. The commercials should've shown boneless variations, the torsion bar in the middle is great for grabbing.
Lowkey its satisfying with the ripstick. Its 2024 and i busted my ass this morning on it. Screwed my wrist up and the metal button on my jeans went inside my skin. But for some reason i still wanna ride it
I skateboarded first. It was alright, but I sucked and thee times I did take a risk lesrning a new trick, I would often get hurt. Those same tricker were exponentislly harder on a ripstick BUT I didnt feel the need to learn any tricks because simply cruising on the ripstick was far more fun than occasionally landing a kickflip on a skateboard.a If you prefer just a satisfying cruise, casterboards are better. But skateboards definitely have more flexibility. Nowadays though, I'd prefer a onewheel or summerboard for cruising and freeskates for tricks.
Just jump off at any speed into grass and it will stop it’s self or tip it so that it gets in the position you get on it at in an angle on the ground and jump or step off and I have never got hurt on it at all it took a while till I could ride it with out pushing off something but I never got badly hurt or hurt at all
bro you make it sound like a ripstick hurts more people than a skateboard, not taking the ripstick side, but I'll bet a ton more people broke their ankles on a regular ol board than a ripstick
I thought learning the ripstick was easier than learning how to ride a skateboard
Me personally it is for me
It is
I think so too! I picked it up way faster.
Learn to ride, yes, but driving on the skatepark for example, is an whole other level than on a skateboard.
@@somewon007bro who needs a skate park when you are spending 10000 hrs trying to land a kick flip

The very first snowboard in codm made irl
bro the ripstik is easier and safer than the skateboard

i will not tolerate this much ripstik hate >:(
I really need to head out into the garage and see if I can find my old box of hopes and dreams.
look for mine too while you're down there will you? cant find mine
@@CaptainNim Looking pretty bleak, but I'll try.
You are a genius. Haven't had such a laugh in long time. Gave my ripstick to a friend to try it out, and in 3 minutes he had his arm broken.
skill issue

I've still got mine. I should get it out this summer.
The earliest you could find was 2007? I remember playing around with one of these caster boards at FAO Schwarz in New York City in the mid-'70s.
great vid! i enjoy ripsticks and ive only got hurt ones while ona skatboard ive got hurt more times than i can count
2:37 the S in S-board might stand for the “S” motion used to propel the board forward. Still, they could’ve used a better name
Ripstiks were a fad, but surfskates which require a similar body motion, are here to stay.

lol your sense of humor is so over the top and ridiculous and I love it.
I remember when I rode down hill at top speed and interrupted someone's prom photoshoot

I personally use my ripstick still to go to the beach and ride up and down the long flat paths.

We used to go up and down curbs and do wheelies but that's all 😭

I have the Air Pro version in 2010 and got used to it pretty easily! 🥰 I actually wouldn’t be able to skate on a board til last year 😅.
I sprain my ankle on this back in the day😭
I found one of these less movable ones (waveboard I think) and only 3 days later I fucked up my ankle
5:35 you can put your toes or heels on the ground
Very funny and entertaining video lol. Nice editing too
I was pretty good at it. Hard turns
Ripstick rips bro. I miss having one.
R i P stick
No good way to stop?
To stop you literally just walk off, or if your going faster just start doing a sharp turn
I still have mine I'm going to sell it soon though the og blue one to from razor

Bad takes their are good tricks, its fun for those who use it and its as dangerous, just dont suck
Isn't it called waveboard?
The waveboard preceded the ripstik and was made by another company. I’m surprised he didn’t include it on the video
Okay so you’ve never ridden one lol haha they are easier than skateboards and funner!!
0:44 loooooool
Yeah. but there's no breaks on a skateboard
Lmao 😂😂😂 i got my ripstick yesterday😂😂😂😂
I love caster boards and they're not really that hard
To stop you just scrape the tail on the ground 🙄
😂 lol
Hater
This video makes me want to buy a waveboard again. I miss being 8 and riding it to school everyday
