  • This time, I'd like to show you a jam I recorded to the “Funky Dung” part of the Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother suite. The jam includes both the licks from the original David Gilmour's solo and my own improvised licks.
I always thought that this part of the Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother suite was a warm-up before the funky part in “Echoes”. This Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother guitar solo is, however, different from the one in “Echoes” - on the Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother album, Gilmour still hadn't found his signature sound.
Enjoy this Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother cover. If you want to jam & practice yourself, you can download the backing track here:

Thank you for your kind comment! I used Laney Cub Head (1w input) with Laney Cab. The amp was cleanish, volume 5, gain 4. When it comes to pedals: First, MXR Sugar Drive as a clean boost (No drive, volume at 11 o'clock), then Blues Driver with gain at 9 o clock, tone 10 o clock, and volume at noon. At the end I had Mini Tube Screamer with drive at 9 oclock, volume and tone both noon. I also had Spark Booster in my FX loop to boost my amp

Thank you for your comment! I used Laney Cub Head (1w input) & Laney Cab (stock speakers). Pedals: First, MXR Sugar Drive acting as a clean boost (no drive, volume at 11 o clock, Sugar drive is veery loud), then I had stock Blues Driver with volume at 12 o clock and gain at 9 o clock and at the end I had mini tube screamer (drive 9 o clock, volume, tone both around 12 o clock). Also, I had a Spark Booster in the FX loop slightly boosting my amp

@@NoStringsAttached_Guitar Thanks a lot for the answer! I'm having trouble getting the David Gilmour sound. I use a Marshall SV20 relatively clean, JHS Morning Glory as boost/ slight drive and sometimes a Xotic SP compressor for cleans, and I also add a nobels odr-1 mini when I need more drive. Rams head big buff / mxr phase 90 / mooer e-lady for the other stuff. Maybe it´s the 212 cab with vintage 30s that are making my tone kind of too bright.

It seems like you already have great gear. I guess it just needs some tweaking to get the right sound 🙂
