The Duro Max generator was very cool the DC charging is only 10 amps but if you have a small DIY solar system that feature would come in handy for those cloudy weeks
@mannyfragoza9652 yea 10amps isn’t much…..butttt, it’s a start and they will see where it going to 30 amp is right around the corner. Watch you’ll see more by end of the year!!

@@johnnysweekendsI wouldn't trust ai power as far as I could throw it so I don't know what they're worried about with the remote compartment lmfao. Thank God they took the return and never again. Yeah they are cheap but no quality. They had a crazy long wrong coil wire that almost rubbed through in 5 hrs. I googled it and saw what was supposed to be on the machine. It surged from day one on load and not idling. That's different. Run from ai power in my opinion!!!
@shanwar9844 they are not bad units. Every brand can have a bad one.
Champion needs to make thier 240v inverter generators parallel capable! I would rather run Champion but others are making more what I need. If the 11kw was parallel capable it would be the perfect match for my backup power needs.
The generator industry is looking more like the bicycle industry it seems. A few Chinese companies selling their stuff to many private label brands. We Americans shouldn't ponder why the ChiComs are the world financial muscle. Did Honda and Yamaha even display at this show? I don't care how great the product is, if you can't get parts and service, it's not a good deal at any price. Great presentation of so much new stuff!
More and more have service locations and are continuing to expand. And more parts becoming available.

Good stuff! Appreciate you pointing out the Ai brand. We love our 2300W Yamaha engine unit. Runs our whole home 120V without an issue. Had it about 3 years now. I think the blue one in your video background is the newer 2400W Yamaha engine unit.

Only 500W-1.5kW out of the 5+kW total though, not enough to keep up with an average house's electrical loads.
If you want a chance of charging a 10kWh home storage battery in a reasonable time while the grid and solar are unavailable, you need a DC generator that can put out at least 60A/3kW DC. Some companies are making dedicated DC generators for this purpose, though most affordable ones look like DIY projects while the decent-looking ones are pitched at the telecoms market with exorbitant price tags.
Looks like there is a growing untapped market there. Make 48-60Vdc generators, then sell the inverter either as an add-on or kit for people who only occasionally need AC from the generator instead of the home/camper inverter.
I use a Champion 8.5kw HSB wired directly to a AC to DC converter. I have the adjustable converter set at 57v 100 amps output to my 600 ah lithium iron phosphate battery modules. But it would be nice if someone made a more affordable all in one DC generator.
After talking to some people… they are coming !! Could be a year though.
But yea would be nice to not have to use a buck converter or something of the like. I have one as well. Actually a couple but all smaller at 600 watts or so.
I’m interested in the Westinghouse 11000 the most at the moment in part because it’s a little cheaper than the genmax at the same range and the weight is supposed to be significantly lower.
That being said you showed off some really interesting duromax and aipower models. Can’t wait to see pricing on those.

I just noticed that Champion is selling an 11k watt gas only inverter generator on Amazon for under $1900. I’m tempted to pull the trigger on it, but I’ll wait at least for the dual dual version now.

Hopefully you will be an able to review larger units. The big Duramax with dc output looks very interesting. How’ve r it’s so hard to know which brands ..new models are dependable. Need help on that have a Honda 700Ois. But trifuel unit with dc would be a worthy add to energy back up. THANKS
The DC output was exciting but only 10A is not useful. Less than 600w for battery bank charging is basically worthless. I was hoping for 5000w DC generator. I guess I will need to build my own or use a 240VAC to 48VDC charger with a normal generator.
Ahh but you have to see the light… it starts here. And after talking with a few people I think we will see great things late this year or early next 😀👍🏼😉

It seems to me Honda and Yamaha are falling quite far behind all these new players in the inverter generator space as they still don't have dual-fuel or tri-fuel version of their products as far as I know.
Yea I didn’t see them, any big brands anyway. And yea would be nice to see a dual or tri fuel unit.. but nothing from them. 🤷🏼♂️
So excuse my ignorance, but can you do a video on DC/AC power. Is AC when you plug into an outlet like at home?
Yes AC power is like in a home or hotel and more. DC power is like your car battery or the 12v socket in the car for plugging in maybe phones and more. Or say DC batteries for a flash light but the large batteries are just bigger and different voltage

@paulraney yes pretty sure they are using Sumec but I dont know if that’s for all models. I would assume since there is not a lot. I also dont know if it’s an aluminum bore or Steele sleeve.

I'm out of the generator search for the foreseeable future. I have an older Honda inverter and a Multiquip 6,000 with a Honda engine, but I've been considering a dual fuel inverter in the 7k range. I spoke to a Westinghouse authorized service center yesterday, and he said he doesn't recommend ANY of the Chinese generators, specifically Westinghouse and Champion. When people bring them in for warranty work, he said it's very common to have to wait a month before he can even get something as simple as a carburetor. These companies don't want to talk to anyone. They just want to send emails.
At least with Harbor Freight, I can just take it back to the store if/when it fails.
I assume that person doesn’t want to work on them or isn’t trying very hard. I can buy the replacement carburetor on eBay right now, along with pull cords, ignition coils and more. Few days to your door. I’m more of a fan of champion verses westing house.
And many units with in the thousand ls of hours on them.
212cc engine seems to be far better than the ducar 224cc engine in several models. But the 212cc is a rato engine
@johnnysweekends he was specifically addressing warranty work. A simple repair, covered under warranty, could take a month or more to get parts and/or authorization.
If you look at reviews on Amazon, you'll see low ratings for Champion. Pretty much all of the bad reviews are related to customer service. I know customer service is dead, but I really like to deal with a company that backs up their products.
Yes you can’t just look at one Amazon review, you have to look at several different sellers and champions store as well. Plus many other locations like Home Depot, Lowe’s, tractor supply and more. This is how I gather data is from multiple sources and comments from my channel and others.
That’s how you can compile a more accurate rating.
And yes customer service is dying everywhere. From New ford trucks to Honda gens to power stations and more.
Look at several Honda forums or comments in my posts and others and you’ll see several complaints about warranty not being covered.
Now sure grabbing parts for a Honda is much easier.
But warranty work authorization is a troubled problem almost everywhere because companies don’t wanna pay if they can find the slightest reason not to.
Look at the Rv market, they could have your trailer for 6 months waiting for something small.
And there is hardly anywhere anymore that wants to fight for you for the warranty. A few places but it’s hardly worth there time when the company says no. And this is with everything.
Harbor freight and Costco are great if you want best returns. But very limited options.
They have good gens for what you get but I wish there was more size options available.
Most generators have a dc output. Usually 12 v though.
521W isn’t going to help a home battery bank though, so I’m not sure what good it is.
It’s more about the direction they are going. Finally it’s a start. Start small and soon we will see DC charging at 3000 watts and more 😀
What, no diesel inverter generators?
Would be cool to see but to expensive and to heavy for a comparable size. I don’t think people would spend the money because the price would be double at least

It is. The ones in the back are GenMax units but I couldn’t tell the front one with the carbon fiber. I couldn’t find the sticker

is it possible to have Tri-Fuel on a 4000 generator?
Yes they make kits but you loose about 33% power with NG so a 4000 start unit will have much less running watts

I couldn’t really get that out of them and they were dummy units so I couldn’t find who they are actually from. They really didn’t say either. So..🤷🏼♂️
