I own a 2001 Santorin B5 S4 with 91k miles. One of the top 3 best cars I've ever driven and it's my daily! Maintenance before mods. I don't drive it too hard and I get 21.3 mpg. For those who want to daily, stay on the fluids and maintenance daily, change the radio, and throw on some tint and it's a pleasure to drive. Guages at night will get you hooked.

Just got into a 2000 santorin b5 s4, love the car. Awesome driving experience, surprisingly easy to work on. Not a nightmare the way people claim. It’s been good so far, already on my 4th tank fill up. Just recharged the a/c, thing blows very cold. Swapped the alternator, new battery, fresh spark plugs and oil change. She’s purring. Compared to my mk4 wagon it is a whole different driving experience and I loved my 1.8t wagon. These things do run HOT, make sure your fan control module works or the aux fan is working. Temps do tend to creep sitting in traffic on a hot day especially with the a/c running and the aux fan not working. Once you’re rolling it’s fine. Owners usually buy electric fans and run them to a switch inside, probably what I will do in the future.
For those interested in a b5 s4, this blue bundle of joy has stolen $5086 in the 1 year and two months of ownership. That price includes three flatbed trips but does not include cost of insurance or gas. Still have cabrio but I do miss the audi 80, 5 cylinder manual; endless fun wish I never sold it but I was young and like you, I also abused it and did not take care of it.

Mine was neglected but had decent paint - I did every possible seal, timing service, suspension component, THEN went Stage 3.
No issues @ 155k miles @ 431whp/471wtq on F21s - car scoots and loves to be abused.
When my garbage 6 puck clutch goes, it'll go to BW K04s, legit RS4 inlets, bigger injectors, new clutch, etc.
Im 5 years into the b5 game and I have had 4 of them. Best cars!
In the corner you just need to gas and quattro out of it, dont touch the brakes or youll spin. Really enjoyed the vid man!

Yes, if you do the maintenance yourself properly, these generation of audis are great. I love my allroad 2.7t, it is comfortable and very useful. Would not change it for anything else.

Imola Yellow Avant B5 S4 Australian delivered with 57,000Km and has been fully climate controlled garaged since new (knew the owner who bought it from the dealership) is now in my possession. I have been scouring the internet for a better example in original condition and so far I believe mine would be arguably at the pointy end of stock versions. There is a lot to love about this model but also a decent list that is less than perfect, understandably due to its heritage and pedigree. Everything comes down to what the intended goal is for purchasing one as an enthusiast. I absolutely will keep up the factory dealership servicing that it’s always had as this process will be key in not experiencing reliability issues barring random failures etc. My goal is the power train from the current RS3 transplanted into it and kept relatively stock for reliability. The performance figures from that 5 cylinder turbo are adequate for regular street use and then I’ll focus on the chassis dynamics and visual improvements.

Bro I am so glad I found your channel! I love the style of videos you are creating specifically with the B5. Just to the point, informative, funny, it's very entertaining! Also hard for me not to mention, but I also own a noggy on noggy 2000 S4 so ay noggy bros :) My car is a K04 car and I also do all the work myself. Loving all the maintenance advice, it sounds like you talk from experience and I'm definitely taking notes on what else to work on with my car. Especially vacuum and boost related items haha

I have an identical car, it’s been in my garage for 10 months
I feel that. This is going in the garage for the next several months or longer. Shift collars let go so it’s time for a proper rebuild which we’ll document here

hey i know you. mines not as clean but she scoots. the b5s4 is what saved audi. its hands down the best audi you can buy. theyre not new so of course there are going to need a lot of maintenance but once you have everything done theyre amazing. ive got the jhm rs6rs turbos on e85 and its a perfect setup for the street. a lot of people around omaha underestimate it lol.
Your setup would definitely shit on mine, but a rebuild is coming soon lol. And I agree, I think every s4 generation after the b5 is soul less. Some may be more reliable and comfortable, but it will never match the raw driving experience and mechanicalness of the B5 S4. Having driven a B6 and B8 s4 ill say the b6 is a great car, however power potential is limited on the 4.2 aside from some aftermarket supercharger options or custom turbo setups which would cost a ridiculous amount of money. Then you have the b8 and b8.5 s4 which in stock form feels like an a4 with more power and nicer seats but not much else. Power potential is there on the 3.0 v6 supercharged but its in that same realm of BMW 335is where lots of young guys buy and promptly trash them since all it takes is simple ECU flashes to make quick power which is not respectable in my opinion. Lastly the C4 or URs4 which is also arguably one of the best and underrated Audis of all time. Its subjectively missing the iconic body style of the B5 S4, but when that inline 5 is built properly it can provide a very powerful and reliable setup that a lot of time surpasses the 2.7t. The B5 is from an era where daytime running lights, large model T sized grills and carbon fiber, excessive diffusers and fake exhaust tips were not required for a car to be cool. Id take one of these in need of several thousands in maintenance over any modern German car any day.
@@yasgioum138 i agree. I’ve wanted one since I saw them 20 years ago in motortrend. But I always wanted an imola. I’ve actually saw your s4 years ago when either nicks friend or brother or something owned it as well and realized I also liked nogaro. I’m trying to find blue interior tho because I feel like it’s lacking without it. I plan on building a motor this winter and maybe doing a top mount twin g25 550 setup. But right now I’m trying to find a decent imola to add.

i had a b5 for 6 months it was well presented and clean but damn that car broke twice and i sold it not realizing the guy who brought it from me got a steal and a good car because the previous owner and myself sorted it out unknowingly i saw it a few months back being driven by the dude who bought it from me 🤣i was so broken and jealous at the same time
If you have endless amounts of money to burn and are mechanically inclined then yes, buy one, but otherwise stay far away from these headaches. You can buy a B8 s4 and have a nicer car for less money and a lot less hassles. Timing chains are the only major issue which if done in time is really a non issue.

Man I had to scrap my 02 imola stage 3 nothing wrong with it just needed a starter but was in between a move and couldnt find a buyer in Miami so I had to scrap it for $600 bucks 🤦🏻♂️

@livefreetoolreview6110 yea unfortunately. Car had 245k miles but we were the 2nd owners from 2008 and maintained it all it's life meticulously. The ko4s still boosted just fine and I even had an extra set of new oem ko4 chra's laying around. The whole scenario was just unfortunate timing.
I now have a b7 s4 stage 2 from jackal motorsports w/every bolt on and BBS CH 19s. It's for sale but this time I won't scrap it lol

na buy a 1.8T Quattro :) There much lighter, handle better and can make over 500bhp with less then few Grand.
