Haven't seen much appeal in OG Xcom before, but having a system where a guy can flub a grenade and drop it at his feet but then another can run in,. pick it up and hurl it at aliens before it detonates is pretty damn awesome. Also Yorkshire farmer has protagonist syndrome.
@@housewilma4904 The simulated ballistic are what make it feel way more fair. Even if you miss by 3 cm your shot will still hit their arm instead of torso
Look up Heat Signature. It's not turn-based but it's top-down action and you can pause as much as you want at any time, allowing some insane setups. Get cornered with approaching guards, throw your wrench at a window to space, pause, aim your swap-places teleporter through a wall at the fleeing target passing near you because you deliberately raised the alarm, swap him into where all the guards just opened fire on you, he takes all the bullets then the wrench breaks the window and everyone in the room gets sucked into space.
What about the legendary story of The Spiffing Brit who valiantly ran away on a mission when everyone else was killed by invisible ninjas. (Was from the xcom files long before I joined the network and I think I ended up getting exploded by my own High EX)
@@Zargosian Hey man, I want to say I really loved your extended Zargosian lore. It was always a highlight for me every time I watched. Lots of fun, well-crafted, and seemingly bottomless. I was left wanting to know more about those noble guardians from beyond the stars.

I wonder if Ben and Lewis would have fun reacting to this. I find this extremely epic and well made. I can picture a whole B-type movie in my head, like you do when reading a book, giving more life and detail to the narrative carried out through their playing.
This is but one of the many amazing stories that arose from the Lewis & Ben Save the World streams. They were a real joy to watch and listen to through the years.
If there’s one thing I’ve loved the most about the xcom files; managing to keep someone alive all the way. You keep someone alive long enough and they become literal mission soloers. It’s insane
Lewis and Ben Save the World remains some of my favourite streams and UA-cam series on the platform. It's a shame they've stopped now but reliving some of the best moments through this video was great, hope you do more!
I would be so amped if they actually still had that save and did an alternate playthrough of the final battles as a small thing. Would be awesome to see all the old lads again.
@@Kalakakku_ Probably not as many clips as Yorkshire farmer but you could do, Zargozian, Bottlegnome and his rise to take over as commander, maybe even something on Wasjig and his mum getting him a commission. If the clips are short put them all in one video together

The real treat about this video for me is that I'm from Yorkshire, and my grandpa was a farmer, so I feel a deep resonation with this character and support him fully with every fibre of my being.
Thanks for making video compilations of these! I've always loved the Lewis and Ben dynamic, but I've avoiding watching xcom vods just due to the sheer amount of content to get through
this is amazing thank you! I know this is a shit ton of work, but it would be fantastic if you did compilations of soldiers like Wazjig and Matrixpanda from the very first Ben n Lewis Xcom playthrough too.
Thank you for making this. I have fond memories of watching this series live, and following the Yorkshire Farmer story every week. I think I even made some fan art of him holding his shopping bag and sword.
i love how Yorkshire Farmer is the _only_ soldier that doesnt panic in the final mission. i was so ready for him to solo that whole thing.
For those who don't know, throwing accuracy is no where near perfect in this game. The fact he lands it on the exact square every time is ridiculous.
My legacy lives on! O7

Personally I much prefer the freedom og xcom gives compared to the board game nature of the modern games. The mods are great because of it.
