I like the idea that every time Dad's Army takes a 'casualty' it is just one of them getting into a comedy predicament where they are unable to participate and the more casualties taken represents more of them trying to help
@@201bio could keep up with the rest of them, lingering behind ever so politely asking in his soft voice. "Oh would you mind I need a moment to catch my breath". Mannering won't let one of his men die and offers to take jones place as the hostage, jones insists captain Mainwaring shoots the Jerry. As tensions rise as the jerrys backed into the door, pews piled up as barricades, staring wide eyed at the serious face of Captain Mainwaring. That's the kind of weird yet heroic ending of a dads army episode XD Mind you, nothing quite beats the actual movie ending, where they take out 3 paratroopers held up in a church having held hostage the actual rotary club. XD
@@danielwilson5102 great suggestion but I also like the idea of inserting them into scenarios from more serious warfilms. Can Dad's army save Private Ryan
@gregortheoverlander4122 just an enemy at the gates style mission where ofc jonesy doesnt realise theyre not against the russians and starts cheering at the end of the opening scene and starts screaming dont panic when he sees the hanging body
The rotating members from Dad's Army actually sounds like a neat little rule/ability. Can swap out one model with one of the wounded models, but you can only swap one model.
Having read some of the rules the Dad's Army section have, holy crap they're BONKERS - Godfrey can reroll his medic check 5/6 times, Jones halves the attacks the enemy get in melee, Walker lets the entire squad shoot twice once per game, and Pike can take up to 6 shots with his Tommy Gun (But it jams permanently if two or more ones are rolled)!
This was splendid! Excellent editing and narration. Especially appreciated the pictures of the Dad's Army characters, I had no idea who they were talking about 😅
Germans: charging up the road to capture Churchill in a daring assult Brits turn: getting shot in whisky bottles and not realising that you are indeed not dead
The thought of dads army vs the germans is some what funny but aslo dark, like the paratroopers blasting dads army from the roof tops while they all comedicly scamble to fight back and die
This video is so well done! The set-up of the game. The editing. Even lighting the room differently to differentiate between the play footage and the after commentary! Love the "in 30 minutes" format and this one was aces!
In reality most 'Home Guard' units were on a par with conscripted regulars. They were mostly made up of WW1 veterans aged between 40 and 60 and younger men in reserved occupations. They trained 20 hours a week or so as well as doing their full time jobs. BUT we all love the romance of Dad's Army and so this game was a joy to watch. Can we please have more of these sort of scenarios. The idea of the early Dad's army figures portrayed as 'Rotarians' was inspired.
I should point out that you are correct, and Godfrey should not get to attack. Canonically, he was a conscientious objector, hence why he became the platoon medic.
That was incredible! Loved it! How can anyone prefer serious, meta gaming tournament play over narrative? Narrative wins every time for me. Fantastic stuff! Just subscribed and I am about to binge watch the channel!! 😅
Love these videos with these three - so funny to watch. This is how I think table top games should be played, its fun, its a bit silly, and its a good time.
They might laugh at the idea of the Rotary club coming at Fallschirmjäger with frying pans and rolling pins, but don't forget that during the invasion of Crete that due to German Fallschirmjägers landing separately from their arms and heavy equipment Cretan civilians attacked the Germans with whatever they had at hand, from pitchforks to walking canes and they managed to get some licks in on the Germans.
I believe that, in "the Battle of Godfrey's Cottage," Mainwaring, Jones and Fraser defend Godfrey's cottage against a friendly-fire attack by Wilson and Pike. There was also that one episode where a couple of German aircrew bail out into a raft on a lake, and I think they take a couple of shots with a pistol. There were probably one or two others as well.
Hey I knew I recognised you guys - you did a playthrough of Xcom Final War!! Great to know we seem to have extremely similar tastes in hobbies, I'll be tuned in!
The editing on these is absolutely amazing, I am actually stunned how you guys can edit a board game to where there isn't a boring moment in it. Amazing work!
I was looking forward to watching this. As a Bolt Action player and someone who grew up on Dad's Army I would love to play this type of scenario. A what if Mainwaring and co actually had to come to blows with the Bosch?! Then you go and blow it by getting the close combat rules wrong...
That was a great Battle report and great video as always. I hope they do more of these esp. with Tom and anyone in the Yogs who wants to play. They should do a Scrub WarHammer fantasy and 40k tournaments. Y'all should put out a lightly/unedited version of this also.
Love this! Because of y'all I got a 'Dads Army' set on the way. Where did you find the shotgun "groundskeepers" models? I can't find them in my searching. Thanks again and look forward to more B.A.! 🙂👍
Lewis grew an entire mustache in the time it took to edit this video.
What an amazing amount of effort that went into this!
I didn’t even notice until I read the comment lol
Nothing gets past you Spiff 😂
Don't expose the magic!!! lol
lost his balls too
It's a very neat moustache, too. Quite symmetrical.
Perfectly balanced, one might say.

I fucking love this idea
“Captain! I appear to have got my foot stuck!”
“Oh for goodness sake, Frazer put down your sniper rifle and help him get his foot free”
They're taking turns in checking the turkey in the oven for the christmas dinner
Godfrey must have been caught short for the last fight

I love Pyrion's expression after he rolled for the Lewis Gun
The editing on that tho.. 👌
Killed me 🤣🤣🤣
The butterfly spring was missing! :-)
I like how, if this were real, the British army is just sitting back watching a small militia destroy a German paratrooper regiment
Full Dad's army campaign would be so great.
There were 80 episodes they could get scenarios from, so plenty of choice.

The Dad's Army models seem so fantastically made! And so stupendously comedic, which is perfect for these sorts of games.

This has been the best bolt action video yet, it's also the first time I was rooting against Lewis
I love how the dads army went from old and unfit men to a spec ops crew
I love these games. I know there's a ton of editing needed so thank you all

I'm so glad UA-cam recommended this to me, this was gold from start to finish.

Absolutely fantastic! No reinforcements were were needed, and the movie magic of Dad's Army didn't change the outcome!
What isn't often appreciated is the LDV/Dad's Army was packed with ww1 veterans who likely wouldn't have reacted kindly to a German invasion
The production value on this is crazy. High praise to the editors!
Someone needs to animate over the audio of this, it would be peak comedy.
I really want more of these game nights of bolt action, its so much fun to see the story that Pyrion, Lewis and Ben make together.
What an amazing video, love the dads army roleplay
This is the best battle report I have ever seen.
I absolutely loved this, and Lewis's storytelling over strict rules made for a great narrative!

I love Pyrion so much! He's so great with voices and making a story XD I love how into it he gets with these!
the little "mein lieben!" as one of the germans gets mown down, lol :D
This British humour is one the reasons why I am an Anglophile :D
This formula for battle report videos is the best I've seen by far.
This video was bloody fantastic. I loved how you went all in on the narrative it was so entertaining to watch. More miniature videos please.
The editing is brilliant.
Brilliant! As much fun to watch as it clearly was to play, along with some actually quite bold and novel strategy!
I'm so glad there's another of these videos, I adore how you edit them together and still manage to capture the joy and intensity of the game!
This is a really good format for a battle report. I always love seeing these from y'all.

Catered for the local Rotary club. Can confirm they cant stop rotating
Fabulous editing and storytelling in these scenarios! Appreciate the work you put into this!
This video made me finally get into this hobby, looking forward to more bolt action and konflikt 47 vids!
I never watched this channel before, but it was absolutely perfect. Truly art in motion
These are so fun to watch. I wish they would do more. Such high quality
I hope this is a sign of more to come! All table top games you guys play are always a blast to watch
The roll play is great. It's about the story not the winner lol
Actual minis of the Dad's Army crew is adorable and I must have some.
4:36 THE SHIRE PATROL & Dads Army!
Fantastic bolt action report, lovely to see it on the channel again. Cheers lads!
What a blast! Great game all, thank you for making these... I know they're a ton of work, but man they're a good time.

Damn I want to watch Dad's Army. Here in Finland it was shown on Yle multiple times and loved the show as kid.
This Bolt Action stuff is the best damn content on this channel. Especially with this crew.
haven't seen the show "dad's army", this was still alotta fun to watch.
It's worth a watch. I rewatch it often on Prime.

This is one of my favorite yogs videos ever
Really really entertaining to watch, great scenario, beautifully played.
Unreal video, brilliant editing, love the dads army
When I saw the thumbnail I thought that one of the guys brought their dad and his old minis on for an episode.
This was one of the best battle reports I've seen. Have a merry christmas

Great video production. Love your wargame vids (would be great to see some Dreadfleet again :p )
absolutely hilarious
Funnily enough, The Eagle Has Landed is airing on BBC Two tonight.
Straight after Dad's Army! :-)
Man, this game looks like a lot of fun!
for anyone else thinking of watching the movie, its on youtube straight up "The Eagle Has Landed (1976) | full wwii movie" its 2:15:24 long
