Just got hired to run a log loader for a local company after a 6 month long lay off so I’m just looking for anything to make me a better operator. Going from a forwarder to a loader is quite the change. I appreciate all the fantastic advice in this video thank you!

As a non logger these videos are interesting because seeing you load a truck I dont doubt your knowledge but knowing and understanding are two different things and I like to pay attention to everything you do to have you explain your actions gives a true understanding of this process

It kinda neat watching how different logging is in all over the country to me that’s a small load of wood logging that we do in northern Alberta Canada our Bunks are ten feet widefrom the drivers to the passenger side what we have are king bees which is our tridrive with the triple axel for your bridge and a triple axel on the pup our max for the summer weight is 78300 kg 172621.95 lbs
When winter weights come in to affect we can haul 88000 kg 194006.79 lbs
And we do go in to bush to get our loads it’s not all highway lol

Excellent operating by the way. Fluent movements and a nice feel for your equipment is evident. Very handy!

The name of the channel fits once you watch it , but it doesnt imply the amount of different things you have on the channel. Adding the sawmill adds another dimension to the channel. I very much enjoy all the videos so far, and look forward to catching up to the many you gave backlogged. Cheers from Canada.

You make it look so easy there Tater. If I tried to load one it would look like those loads Steve was putting on Tiny.

One thing I noticed is most of the operating is boom centric, the stick barely has anything to do with it

Nice one again. I m not a logger, more a mecanic and excavating guy, but I like the things like: putt the heavy logs on the driverside because the way the road crowns.

Greetings from Central NH (Lakes Region) - Great vid. You did a good job of showing you really have to have someone doing loading who "thinks" to do a good job of packing a trailer to both keep it legal and move timber efficiently. What you didn't mention was how it critical to have the logs trimmed and stacked ready for loading by someone with some smarts! Having a jumble pile to work through takes time and is frustrating as hell when you come time to load out. You guys do it right, so you take it for granted everyone organizes their yard properly - not always the case!!!

Back in the mid fifties rabbit hunting with my dad it was very common to see ramps beside loggi g roads i assumed were built to load saw logs. It looked like they may have pulled logs to the ramp with horses and rolled them on to a truck. They had a name for them that I for the life of me can't remember. Any thoughts?

there has to be a road weight limit. how do you know when you reach it. do the trailers have scales on them.

when i hauled steel i always loaded the heavier coils on the rear of the trailer, why? because the rears on the truck was way heavier than the tandem axles of the trailer. now the hard part was getting the weight on the steering axle with the fifth wheel sitting between the rears.
now maybe the reason u want more weight on the drives with logs is because of how ur log trailer is built --verses a regular flat bed frame is. quite interesting video-thanks

Have you put the scales on the knuckle boom yet Wade? I suppose it's a guessing game on the weight without it. That was a good explanation on how you load a truck. Have a happy labor day weekend Wade.
