I started a new run myself for the first time in a few years, I never got too far into the game so I appreciate this series it's been quite helpful, thank you. Also I think maybe all starter systems have a paradise world now (or I'm quite lucky) as the 2 runs I started since this 5.0 update have both had paradise worlds. I really like my second one as it has pink grasses by day, but by night there is a sorta tiger stripe effect as the grass all turns blue but with waves of the pink, its incredibly beautiful. Now I'm off to go do that ship trick.
It wasn't so difficult IME, except perhaps for ppl with colour-blindness: you had to look for when the blue pad circles turned to green (& not be flying too fast or pointing in a different direction ofc), then it'd be good to land. I can understand why 3rd person (camera) mode made it more difficult, but as I only use 1st person I never had a problem

I just started a new playthrough on this update also. Loving it so far. I chuckled a bit when you went to the space station, saw the yellow fighter and said "nice!" Because that's the exact ship I'm using at the moment. Those planetary distress beacon charts are amazing early game. You get nanites, money, salvaged tech and materials. I found an "Ancient Data Structure" on my first planet and that kicked off a big early game jump for me.

Myt biggest problem with base building in this game has been lighting. Once you make an enclosed space, your base gets really dark inside. I've never played before and my start was -50 ice planet, then it took me to a poison world and told me to build a starter base, I said no and went to the 3rd planet in reach which turned out to be on fire and now my ship has no fuel to take off again.
I love this game. Great video, thanks. I like the new space stations (haven't loaded up my game since January) - but I'm nostalgic for the old kind too - have they all disappeared or can you still come across an old-format station?
A landing pad attached to a structure will allow an attached trade terminal to directly access the ship that's on the pad.. but not to any nearby (eg PC-built) structures. So you can land on the minor outpost's pad & use their trade terminal to trade stuff to/from your ship directly, but if you build a terminal in your BobBox you can't do the same until you land your ship on a (self-built) landing pad (& vice versa). Fortunately, the material cost of landing pads (& teleporters) have been significantly reduced since they were first made available, but it's still a slight niggle that it's not purely distance-based :( You will always find 4 oxygen plants near /any/ crashed claimable ship (maybe other than Sentinel ships - look for the distress beacon to determine whether it's claimable or not). These 4 O2 plants are unscannable IME (like the spores in caves), unlike the other resource plants (red, yellow, blue), the 2 or 3 marrow bulbs or assorted hazardous plants scattered around planets: useful info for a 'scan plants' mission/quest

Yes, you can get much larger freighters, every 5 hyperspace jumps there will be a space fight to protect a freighter, when you defeat the pirates attacking the freighter you will be able to land on it, then speaking to the captain will allow you to acquire the freighter. The first freighter that you accept will be free, but subsequent freighters will not, however, if the first freighter rescued is not a large one, below 20 slots, then you can refuse it and attempt to rescue a bigger one later, as that one will still be free. IMPORTANT, if the first freighter rescued is not to your liking, and you want to wait for a better one, you MUST refuse, and do not accept any other reward for the rescue, otherwise this will invalidate the free freighter offer. More importantly, there is no harm in accepting the first freighter rescued, as you can upgrade the number of slots quite easily later, and once you become a space billionaire you can trade it for a higher class freighter, or better looking one. controls are still clunky, still no joystick support, their controls remapping is on par for the weakest I have ever experienced, flight mechanics are comical. This feels like Fortnite in space. A kids game. Other than some base building , weak storyline, there is no sense of a game world to experience. other than moving some dirt around, you have no impact on this game.
There is a 30-50 hour story line and quests you can follow that will give you some answers to why you are there and what the point is but ultimately the imo this game is made to explore.
This is a pure sandbox game, like DF or X3 or X4: there are storylines to give some direction, but ultimately you do what you want. There's no ultimate 'endgame' goal

Paradise worlds can have storms & Sentinels, but they're certainly toned down quite a bit
Hint for surviving hot storms (on paradise, lush, hot etc worlds): jump into nearby water (stick your head out). You can thus negate the heat & only worry about wind or lightning :)
@@snafu2350 Where do you get this information? I have played this game since 2018, have over 1000 hrs total. I have bases on paradise planets and they do not produce storms or randomized sentinels. That is what makes them paradise planets. What I said in the comment is 100% true.
@@fredhurst2528 Played 1600+hrs on GoG PC only since release, plus many hundreds of additional hrs unlogged due to spotty Net connections. Plus additional info from (mostly) Xaine, but others too. However I may have not been keeping up with some update's practical effects, but I can certainly say that what I said was true at at least one point during development
@@snafu2350 Just to be clear, I am referring only to paradise planets as worded when scanned from space. This does not include lush, tropical, overgrown, or any other name that applies to planets that have star bulb.
I see that No man's sky is on sale in the Playstation store. I'm not sure if I want to buy this game. I'm afraid I'll play it for few hours and then leave it. Any advice
If you want a relaxing game to unwind to this can be it. If you want fighting or space sim this ain’t it.
@SurvivalBobGaming Thanks for the advice man. I think I'll try the game out.
Hey Bob when you going live next on youtube
🤷🏻♂️not sure. Just doing the Twitch drops for now. I’ll probably do it when the expedition hits.
@@SurvivalBobGaming hell yeah can't wait for next episode
How many ships can you claim?
you can have up to 12 ships now
Yo, can anyone help. I came back to the game and started a new save. It wants me to use my analysis visor (F) but when I try to use it, the game tells me it is not installed and I can't find out if I'm supposed to get it somewhere or what? Can anyone advise me?
Click on a space in your multi tool. It should be a build able option ( part of the tutorial of finding the hermetic seal tells you to build it so you can see your ship in the HUD
@@greywuuf TY!
A new Bob video 2 days in a row. We are not worthy! LOL
Oh you’re worthy! Just don’t get used to it! 😂
I can't call the ship I found, it says critically damaged
Reload or go through a teleporter.
Fix it or call it into the Anomaly or Space Station (or your freighter), where it'll be magically restored to flyable condition
You bought the advanced mining beam and left thecondens3d carbon ? For shame
I couldn’t make it yet. Need antimatter. 🤦🏻♂️ I cut that out and you still busted me. 😂
I reinstalled to give it a third or forth go...i lost count, but man this game is boring af. idk what it is but I can't seem to get into it and I wish I could. I feel it is missing something or idk just doesn't sit well. Not sure why I felt I had to type all this but here ya go? /shrug
Same. I'll have an urge to play it, reinstall it, proceeed to play it for maybe an hour or so then realize, oh yeah, it's kinda boring once you've experienced all it offers. Still a good game regardless and has had an amazing redemption arc but oh wells.
It's all good fun until you realise it's utterly, utterly pointless.
lol, It’s a game bro. The point IS to have fun.
controls are still clunky, still no joystick support, their controls remapping is on par for the weakest I have ever experienced, flight mechanics are comical. This feels like Fortnite in space. A kids game. Other than some base building , weak storyline, there is no sense of a game world to experience. other than moving some dirt around, you have no impact on this game.
What is the endgoal of this game? What's the point of all this exploration?
There is a 30-50 hour story line and quests you can follow that will give you some answers to why you are there and what the point is but ultimately the imo this game is made to explore.
This is a pure sandbox game, like DF or X3 or X4: there are storylines to give some direction, but ultimately you do what you want. There's no ultimate 'endgame' goal
