I remember this from late 90's repeats on Channel 7 Australia, A Country Practice followed by Home and Away-The Early Years then an episode of Sons and Daughters.
Yes alternate afternoons in the UK with Sons and Daughters (think ACP aired on Tuesdays and Thursdays). Watched this with a cup of tea and biscuits with my Mum, right after school. Memories!
Not quite correct. RTE aired all seasons - beginning with episode one on Monday, 23 September 1985 on RTE Two. In 1988, it moved to RTE One, airing weekdays at 5.30pm. It was incredibly popular in Ireland and rated well. Episode 1088 (the final ep) aired on 13 February 1997 on RTE One. They began a repeat run in 1998 starting with season 8.
I remember being 13 and just having surgery (I’m 35 now) and being at my grandparents house to recover while my parents were at work, and at 11am each day ACP would come on after good morning with Bert newton, cookie and Esmay were always my favourites
I was way too young to get into this soap, so maybe that explains my feelings about it. But that theme tune and opening credits remind me of being a kid, having nothing to do, being bored, and turning on the TV and seeing this! Like Young Doctors. Or Take the High Road. It just felt quite depressing.
1.30 Neighbours then switch over 1.50 to catch this just beginning. My fave characters were Cookie with his get rich quick schemes dragging Bob Hatfield into it with Esme getting all worked up. Epic stuff. Bob was almost wheezing with his red face, was always worried about him
Currently watching this on DVD. Love Simon and Vicky may not continue after they leave. Then a course never say never. But they are great character’s. 😉Have to say they are slow about adding actors to the main titles Joan Sydney (Matron Sloan) & Wendy Strehlow ( Sister Judy Loveday) should have been included in series 4 credits.🤔
4.48 Didn’t that Caroline Johanson (the nurse) die in a car accident in the show. She was getting a birthday cake for another character and on the way home was killed?
One of the most beautiful and melancholic pieces of music ever composed.
That's for sure and when ACP went stereo it added real depth to the music
Reminds me of my mother who loved to watch this every day she passed away last year
I remember this theme so well it's incredibly beautiful
The doctor, the sergeant, the matron, the vet, the chef and the fat guy. None of them had names to me but it was the best show on earth for me.
Hey don't forget the Wombat!
Shane Porteous pulling up in that jeep has got to be the most remembered credit shot in the series' history.
It was a land cruiser, sorry to ruin that for you
@@simonemurdock1951 i think in one season intros he doesnt arrive in the cruiser. He arrives on foot
Has to be white haired man when he comes to the front gate
Takes me back to a Wednesday Afternoon in the UK. Just home from School.
I remember this from late 90's repeats on Channel 7 Australia, A Country Practice followed by Home and Away-The Early Years then an episode of Sons and Daughters.
Thats cool this was aired in the uk

Same here used to look forward to watch it every week
yes
The most relaxing theme tune ever. Love it still
RIP Lorrae Desmond who played Shirley 😢
Back before Reality TV crap took over
In Ireland they showed ACP at the time Diane Smith arrived but not the seasons before that.
In 2020 ACP seems like a dream world.

Who remembers the pet wombat called Fatso?
Never forgotten
Why didn't Fatso make it into the opening credits? He deserved to!
I miss this Australia like crazy!
Fatso was included on the closing credits
RIP Joan Sydney ❤

David Bowie brought me here! He was said to been a fan of this show.
4.48 Didn’t that Caroline Johanson (the nurse) die in a car accident in the show. She was getting a birthday cake for another character and on the way home was killed?
Woa spoiler alert.
Yes Donna Manning was buying Birthday cake. She was having a surprise Birthday party for Ben Green. Ben was the local vet played by Nicholas Buffalo
Puts an instant grin on the face 😊
Here from Bowie article. In short, this was David Bowie's favorite TV show
Love this, thank you.

Who used play Jo Loveday? Man, I had a crush on her.
What's your profile picture from??
Wendy Strehlow
Josephine Mitchell played Jo Loveday
Wendy Strehlow played her sister Judy Loveday a nurse
Does this not remind anyone of Tchaikovsky's piano concerto?
yo
Jesus christ I hated this when my mum used to put it on 🤣😂🤣
What was the Wombats name again?
Fasto
These opening credits are not fully correct.
Thought it was a dull boring series on itv in afternoons 😔💤💤💤
I like the coronavirus
For anyone an adult in the 80s looking back and comparing the world then to the absolute sh1t show of the last seven or eight years ......😮
