I had a 1970 SS El Camino that was fully restored and hot rodded to the max. She was so fast and good looking. Absolutely my most favorite car ever. I would just about sell my soul for that car there lol. Hopefully you will give her the love she deserves and a good long life. She's an absolute beauty.
1970, for the El Camino, was a great year !
As an American, I was thrown off seeing a LHD El Camino on the short and paid no attention to it thinking it was from one of the American Channels. Great Find, and we're jealous of the things y'all got like the 70 series, Patrols, and the Barra. Can't wait to see more and keep up the good content.
You can have all the barras and patrols just send more American classics!
@@sickpuppycody I agree
You guys are missing out on the best ford things. Like falcons, sohc, barra and so many more + many different brands and Australia only cars
@@snapped4433 Send me a Falcon 2 door coupe. 😊
@@jamiemckechnie3662 Na you ant getting any xb's 😂
Great work, look forward to seeing the progress as you get her running and make her a killer ride again
It's just great to see someone so excited!!!
Came across your channel by chance, and a shout out from America, when you see someone appreciate these older American muscle cars like you have you have earned respect as a car guy to another car guy you have a amazing find these Elcaminos are Unicorns in this good of shape barn finds 👍👍👍
So happy for you on getting it running.
Another one saved! Congrats on finding that and bringing it back to life, excellent video 🔥
Fill the carbs thru the vent tubes to the bowls….she will stay running alot longer than just pouring it down the carb
What a find! A true American classic! I've owned a lot of different years of elcamino's but never a 70. Looking forward to seeing more of this
Glad that ole Chevrolet found a good Aussie home
Yes! Got so excited with you 🤣 always a good video when you get a seized motor going again!
Great vid mate go the mighty Chevy I watch every of your vids to the end you are a Aussie legend keep the vids coming
I love watching barn-find, will-it-start, videos, and 99% of the guys who do them well are overseas, being an El Camino, when I clicked, I thought you were somewhere in the USA, and then I heard the accent, and I was like this fella’s an Aussie! Well done mate, for a guy working by himself, in a driveway on a foreign car, you totally smashed it. I just subscribed, we’re in this together now! Peace and love from SA!
Legend mate thank you! From North Queensland
@@sickpuppycody Love your videos. Derek with Vice Grip Garage could give you any advice on that El Camino. He's a Chevy guy. I had a 68 Charger with a 383.
Fellas a legend aye. She’s very similar to what I’m used to just the hard part it’s getting parts at the right price here in aus. I got a 69 mustang I’m waiting on parts for as well. Man I love the 68 chargers
@@sickpuppycody Mopar or No Car!
@@sickpuppycody Send me a Valiant charger.
Nice work mate. Good score and well done getting it running. Keep videos like this coming.

Just found your channel tonight (in the USA). Great "will it run" video!! Great attitude, too! Subscribed! Thanks!
Great video man, glad you got it figured out.
love it watched it till the end brother good luck and looks like a beast
That's one sweet ride ! Keep up the good work
What a beauty of a car. Such a solid day's work!
I never was much for elcaminos as a kid in the 90s, there were several in my small town back then. Now being older.. man there awsome, wouldnt mind having one for sure, a car that could haul my dirtbike🤘! Also theres something i love about the 70/80s wheel and tire staggered setup like this, it's not popular and alot of people dont like it these days but that's exactly how I'm setting up my 79 transam. Either solid dish centerlines or with the circle hole cutouts like this. Frickin awsome 👌
Watched all the way through great video I will watch more for sure
I can't wait to see you get this thing driving it'll be sick
That car is the definition of awesome!!!
Thanks Cody, iv wanted an el camino forever!!!!! Cant wait to see you get this back up and running
Best year elco in my opinion. ‘68/‘72 cant go wrong
Love that you did nothing to it until the camera started rolling. Honest reactions right along with us.. New viewer, I subscribed.. Thanks for your love of old American muscle 💪🏾 mate!
How the hell did you get your hands on that? You’re so lucky. Looking forward to more on this El Camino, cheers Cody.
It might be the starter locked up and making it keep it turning the motor
R&b rapper that man
@@lancehigdon8683 It needs to be shimmed its pushing too hard into the flexplate
What a tuff customer! sounds mean and clean as hell man. I love this car, my dream vehicle.
Luv ya work Codes. And what a beast of a car. U will get big coin for it. Please keep making vids
Just came across this video. My very first vehicle was a 70 El Camino. My biggest automotive regret is letting it go. I'm halfway through the video and sooo excited for you! I'm in Texas and can't find one I can afford! I hope it's the ripper that it looks like and you have an absolute blast with it!
Talk about your emotional rollercoaster! This is going to be a fun project! Part 2 please!
Fantastic episode, great job on getting the V8 running
Nice one bud just found ya channel

Rock on!
Another Aussie American car nut here and on my 2nd Elco.
Keep us updated on your progress with it.(subscribed)
Cool clip, especially being in Australia. Trivia for ya..1970 Elco's are probably the most sought after along with the 1959.
And i understand the want for a Charger..
I'm working towards a 1970/71 Challenger..
Real happy for you brother. I have a 70 El Camino SS. Love to see it being appreciated down under. Good Luck.
Junk yard digs gave you a shoutout that's how I found you , glad he did mate I honestly never knew this channel existed . Got my sub and my like mate and can't wait to watch more of your videos when home . Just watched this one during smoko ❤️
Legend brother thank you 🤙
Gday mate, I'm a spanner thrower over in NZ and I gotta say the clear passion you have and genuine excitement to see this old girl being revived is inspirational af, and it happens to be the ute version of my dream car 😂 bloody choice to see you going places man much love from this side of the ditch and can't wait to see more of this thing, cheers bud 🍻
Thanks mate. Super glad you like it
can't wait for the charger! I am with you!
Its one sub at a time and so gave it a like, hit the bell for notifications.... ya you got yourself a unicorn for sure. I haven't seen many in that nice of shape in many years. Me, 73, drove hell out of them, never was a chevy guy but did own tons of them.
That's so cool to watch foreigners enjoying old school American muscle cars. I can just imagine the difficulty/cost in getting replacement parts. I have a 67 Chevy Caprice with a 396 big block and 400 transmission that I'm slowly working on here in Tennessee USA. I subscribed to your channel and can't wait to see more.
That’s awesome man she runs well done
I’m glad you got it running. Good work.
please keep the same look and colors
beautiful find.
Cody always watch to the end well done getting it going can't wait to see what you do to the El Camino and good cut and polish clean it up flip it
Thank you brother I truly appreciate it. You have no idea how much it helps
Awesome, I absolutely love a 70. Mine is a 71 SS 454 4SPD, but 70 is my favorite. I definitely will be watching your progress. Good luck 👍
Awesome bro
You lucky boy you’re getting in to fun territory financially all of Australia is watching you now
We want weekly up dates now also keep going. Great job 😊
Can't wait!
Love it when an old girl fires up or at least turns over.. mad project find..😎🤘
I was just passing by.. saw the El Camino and was hooked..
Love it sounds absolutely mint 😁👍👍🍻
Absolutely rad! Stoked to see the love of American Muscle stetching far and wide still to this day. I hope you do keep it for awhile to enjoy but totally understand wanting a charger! My dream car will always be a '68 charger with a '70 front clip so it still has the hideaway headlights like the '69 but no vertical bars on the bumper like the '69s do. Keep wrenchin and building, much love and respect from Milwaukee Wisconsin, USA ✌️❤️🤍💙
Thanks mate! Can’t wait to see how far this goes
What wombat here it Oz would let an el Camino sit outside to get that bad , covered in Moss with motor open to the elements , crazy mate , looking forward to this build 👍👍
I got so excited when she fired up! Giggling like a school kid haha
Nice find bro, I have a 70 Elky in the same colour Astro Blue here in Oz, wicked and rare barn find especially over here 🤙🏼 The Mullet of Muscle cars 😎
So cool! Send me some photos on instagram

Awesome brother welcome
Looking forward to more
Can't wait to see it on the road
Found your video thanks to Junkyard Digs. Such an amazing car in America, let alone Australia.
Glad you enjoyed it
Found your video because of junkyard digs also! Love your enthusiasm! Nothing better than that nervous energy and getting the shakes when working on an old car that hasn’t ran in years!
Nice!! My pops has a 1968! Awesome rides!
Awesome stuff man kepp smashing it.
Amazing Amazing startup
Nice work Cody!! I love this style of vid because of the enjoyment you and we get when stuff just starts working. Can’t wait for more vids like this🤙
More to come!
Timing

That’s epic dude I’m so happy for u
Wow great find!!!! even in the states this car is a unicorn especially in that good of shape. Then you add all the goodies that's on that small block 350 with the 350 turbo tranny wow what a score.
Awesome work bruz that thing looks wicked
Sweet ride sounds good being locked up I’ll be waiting for the next video
Just found myself a new favorite car channel ❤
What a great Video Cody Nice job Brother always watch to the end mate
Much appreciated
Depending on the type of cam, she needs zinc additive. The zinc acts as a sacrificial layer of lubrication on the flat tappet cam. Other than that, she's a peach!
American here, thats a sick El Camino. My grandpa had one when i was a kid, wasnt a V8 tho. Seeing this makes me want to go out and wrench on my squarebody! cant beat a small block chevy
Cody, Looks like either a 283 or 305 tricked out just fine! You have a classic ride here. Any way, you really lucked out finding this gem. Every guy has to have a muscle car or truck to "play" with!
307 cubic inch 200 horsepower V8 (base)
350 cubic inch 250 horsepower V8 (optional)
350 cubic inch 300 horsepower V8 (optional) 1970 El Camino Engine Options
283 and 305 are ten years apart and totally different from each other. 327 and 283 are closely related and both small journal high rpm engines..
A 283 doesn't have a crank bolt. Looks like a 350. It sounds way over carbureted.
Great video brother. Just subscribed. Looking forward to more stuff. Great job
@ 17:40 mark... yes Folks, passion for something is Free! Carry on Mate!!
Outstanding work on getting it running.
Thank you very much!
The best episode ever.
Nice work. The dipstick on the driver side, below the breather is the engine oil. A chevy will work with anything that qualifys as a lubricant. We usually st as y on the high side, 10-40 or even straight 30w. The dipstick you checked on the passenger side at the back is for the transmission. The dipstick tube is also the filler tube. Check power steering pump on driver side too(belt driven). Chevys are tough, you probably don't need to pull that motor, it will come back fine! The balancer is interference fit, but fix the bolt before any serious shakeout;)
loved this video mate! that el camino is actually in such good nick! paint is bad but not that bad, no rust chrome shiney offt
It’s I was actually surprised on how good it was. Not what I was expecting
What a beast.
Far out great work and great buy mate!
sweet old find there nice truck hoped up a little too
Awesome job! Congratulations to you for getting this car (Ute?) running.
Cool find - even here in Canada.
Engine casting number is on L/R of engine.
TH350 - turbo hydramatic 350 - great transmission.
Bullet proof combination (well almost)
Keep up great videos!
