Well done James clever and well rounded review. I own the 718s. Car is unbelievable! Its fast, its comfortable & l adore its gruff angry motor. I chose this over the previous model as l wanted a sports car with sports car performance. Porsche design and engineering continues to push the limits, what they have done with the 718 is a masterpiece of ingenuity. Perfect.
How does the ride on these 18 wheels feel relative to the optional larger whees? I had the opportunity to drive 19s and 20s back to back and could not feel a difference on the street.
This is the first review I've seen with the stock 18 inch wheels. How did the car feel while hard cornering? Any body roll/lean? Have you driven the 718 with the optional 19s or 20s for sake of comparison. Arguably the larger wheels are prettier, but if there's no difference in the feel of the car, I'd probably forego the larger costlier wheels. Finally, dos the optional sport exhaust alter the character of the exhaust note, or is it merely louder, and how much louder? Thanks for the review.
Great Review thanks James I really really want a new Boxster!! PS I don’t know if you have watched this video back but you have a smile on your face for entire 9 minutes and 12 seconds which enough for me to know you really loved it - I agree; a 2ltr turbo flat 4 sounds absolutely mouth-watering!! Cheers
Don't need PDKthere is no way to speck auto box in sport car! Neither need the sport chrono pack- that saves me most of the "options" money! Few years later I started like the sound as well.
NOTE: Car tested has entry level 18inch wheels so would feel dramatically different to what he experienced in this video if you selected the must have 20 inch wheels.
Have you driven the different sizes in the 718? Very few dealers are ordering the 18s, so tough to know. I personally would stick with the 18s if the feel is similar.
The true Sacrilege....as you say....is ordering that car with the automatic.... The Porsche M/T is brilliant. And that has nothing to do with performance, it's about smiles.
I don't feel the need to own a Porsche, and certainly not a convertible, so what would I look at, to get this same level of performance and driving dynamics? Any ideas?
I'd rather buy a low km's 986 S with MT and spend another $20k on it to make it my Porsche... lol Yeah, good review - it will be interesting to see whether the 981 or 718 holds its value better.
You really had to wait for that? Well, 982 prices are about to fall through 981 prices... there ya go. GTS prices are especially good, you can basically get the RP for a 3 year old car.
BradLevere Graphite Blue Metallic. $650 add on. When the sun hits it it’s baby blue and when in the shade it’s more grayish than blue. Almost always some shadow effect with the lines on the front end especially making it appear wet. Gathers quite a number of compliments as the color is nowhere else on the highways unless you ordered years 2016-2018 for the 718 or 911. It is no longer available for special order either. I have the GTS and am completely enjoying the car as well as the color.
Wow, I have a 2018 Boxster and if you bitch about the center console being "confusing", then you probably shouldn't be making a review of the car. Simple and easy.
Engine sound is a disaster. Sounds more like a 1950s Beetle rather than a Subaru. Also rear end looks shit now, much better in 981. Some very suspect plastics used inside as well including on the '918' steering wheel which feels shit compared to the 981 alloy Sport steering wheel. Car is a disaster. Car I test drive had rattles in the interior. I was a potential customer but I'm now in the market for a used 981.
@@drbobs8267 I have been on a few invitation days at Porsche centre Silverstone and on a range day and have driven it in various situations and I stand by my comment it sounds crap, sorry
Wow, the British have to operate all the car controls/navigation panel etc. with their left hand while all you can do with the right hand is open the door/window
@@paulwood862 Not much of a point. It just occured to me that it's not just the other side of the car, but consequently the other hand too. Being a right handed person it's a bit difficult to imagine having to switch gears, operate the navigation/radio etc. with my left hand. Seems a lot less comfortable. I'm from Europe, not the US, by the way.
arzus4 If you have done it all your life it’s fine. I am right handed and struggle when I drive a LHD in Europe as it just really unusual to change with the right. I generally go for an auto for that reason
Fck this car go buy an Abarth 124 spider used it will have the same quality plastics and make a good sound if you spec the sport exhaust,if you can fit in the 124 though!
i actually really like the sound of the 718s too, even though everyone else hates them. its very WRX-y but i dont mind that.
@Eli Kingston yea, have been watching on flixzone} for since november myself :)

The grip, handling and feel of this Porsche is phenomenal!
Best 718 review by far!!!
Best 718 review so far. Good job
Cheers!
I'm not a really big fan of Porsche but this one looks pretty good!

It is so much quicker than the 987 and quicker than a base 911
Very good review thank you :)
+WiN iOS - thanks for watching!
CarAdvice.com stop revving engine when it's cold, have some mechanical sympathy even if it isn't yours please

well done as usual Porsche can't make a bad car
Allen Saunders drive the 981 S or GTS and form your own opinion, for me the 718 is a distant second to the 981
01:49 Is that a cassette player o.O? the rectangle slot labelled 'Porsche' upon it?
The CD slot is above it.
Thanks : P
No ffs - it where the sd cards and SIM cards go
Awesome car! Hands down!
Really good review.

ITS INSANE

BMW M2?
i will rather say Audi TT RS
golf r
Paul Howard NOTHING compared to a Porsche I can say for experience. TT and GOLF? JAJAJA don't make me laugh
A Lotus Evora or a 718 cayman. It's hard to get a similar performance for a better price.

Where did you get the Chewbucca toy from
There's a great little shop on Alderaan that sells... oh, sorry. Too soon?
still unsure whether getting a 981 or 718 🤔
Mix the two and get a 918 ;)
Both Boxsters are great - drive them both and work out which one you prefer.
aver 718 all life
Mike Lowry’s car did 0-60mph in 4.0 secs
industrial function starting treasure estimate my landscape announcement.
Anyone know what Porsche calls that colour?

I enjoyed the car and the review, thanks!

adding options and departing with your hard earned cash truly is part of the "Porsche buying experience" xD
My dream 😍
this car is life😆😆
FFS it's Por....shaw not Porch, pedantically speaking.

eSysman 😂😂😂😂😂
The 981 sport design steering wheel may have the appearance of alloy but its actually just painted plastic like the dash trim.
The engine sounds good. I better it sound better than your car.
... ok don't buy it!
ok and who asked you?
It's 90k more than a WRX with the same size motor . Ummm yeah . NO THANKS
WTf...my left hand is faster than that!
+tigerbalm - sorry, we mean at shifting gears.
i mean...the fact that you are even comparing it to a WRX shows how disappointing this car's engine is.
There are other cars with a turbo 4 that sound a whole lot better than this thing.
tested drive, it has turbo lags and the sound is not as good as NA
BS
Please do not compare a Porsche to a Subaru
I think maybe this video made in Monterey... so it's always foggy
Yes its more efficient yes its quicker but as a middle aged man who can afford one of these it just sounds crap please sort it Porsche
Drive one for more than 20 minutes and you’ll change your mind.
