HodsBroo the base f type costs less than the boxster, and it is slower. Don't forget Porsches do not come with any options, PDK, PASM, parking sensors, and practically everything comes optioned. HodsBroo I must say, the 718 Boxster and cayman sounds really terrible though, especially compared to older 987 and 981 Porsches. Jag wins my vote on this one.
Wow, those are really expensive. For that price I'd rather move to North America, buy either one and have at least 50k for a down payment on a house (or 3 years worth of rent).
LOL ..Reliability ? ... don't swallow the "German engineering " sales talk ... they have loads of very expensive problems , but the press are very reluctant to talk about it ...Wonder why ? !
Best option is a last generation 981 Boxster/Cayman S. Then you get the exhaust note along with the German precision. The 718 loses some of the experience from a sound perspective with the turbo four compare to the last generation's naturally aspirated flat six. Unless, of course, you're opting for the 718 GT4 or Spyder, in which case you still get the flat six and that great sound.
give me the jag all day mate, its far better looking than the boxster, better interior by far, front engine beats that rediculous mid engine nonsense all day imo, boxster ok 400 kilos lighter but jag will actually protect you far better in a crash, boxster has fuel tank at front which means in a front impact crash it splits spills fuel everywhere & then catches fire, paul walker would of survived his crash if he had been in a jag & not a porsche, porsche sports cars are not safe in a crash so i will take the extra weight as it comes with extra safety even if it cost 10-15k more. porsche put performance before safety, safety should always come first no exceptions.
One would pay how much for those wheels on the Porsche?? Eee gad!! Thanks for the excellent video quality and the good reviews. A few more with Tegan would be nice, just sayin'. ;)
And how much are both those cars worth now secondhand ?......Jaguar = almost zero, Porsche = loads of money. Wonder how the Indian built version will be like.....? Not as daft as it may seem they have just moved the production of the Landrover Defender from the UK to India. Also second hand market is flooded with f types, I wonder why nobody wants to keep them ?
Why are you so shocked? Because you found out that the cars cost the same in Germany and Australia? The 140 K car comes with 30K worth of options. And 67K Euros are +100K Australian dollars, so it is only 5000 dollars more expensive, which is not terrible, given you have to ship it down there, do the local market customisations, paperwork bla-bla...
For practicality and instant fun with precision and COMFORT. Porsche in general For a loud fun drive thats an attention grabber. Jaguar F Type. Im really happy this video was made as next year i get to upgrade my car and i was choosing between the Jaguar AWD V8 F Type, Porsche Cayman, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Mustang GT350, Hellcat, Porsche Macan Turbo, Corvette Z06, (ik this sounds silly for car guys) Tesla Model X (id wrap it an olive type green with black rims), and i feel like im missing one more car but, these roughly are the options ill have for my next car. And honestly i think im going to stick with the Jaguar as my dad used to have a couple Jags and my brothers had one so ig why not haha! Im just not excited because ik one flaw about all Jags.... those fucking seats i can already tell are yet again shitty while everything else looks good. But im only 18 so im more of looking for a car that will always throw a smile on my face especially when i downshift... i think Jaguar takes the W there (:
You nailed it. 99.9% of the time, most of us enjoy the car’s day to day personality and weekend drives along curvy roads. Not because of it’s race track behavior. I chose the Jag F-TYPE R because it wins 99.9% over Porsche.
Simple... Porsche is way better o paper while Jaguar is more about the joy of the ride. jaguar fans will not change to a porsche and vice versa... Personally, I´m more a specs guy and I absolutely love the new clean design on the 718, so Porsche wins for me
I wish reviews of cars were matched better, mid engine against front engine is dumb, of course the porsche is going to handle better. Then there's the fact the Jag was designed for the experience and theatre and not a track day warrior like all porsche's. Jag vs Mustang would of been far more appropriate.
I am trading my f type v8 for cayman s. Jag is beautiful car but the reliability is shit. It has spent more time in the shop than on the road and the repair cost is ridiculous. Save yourself a hassle and get a Porsche. Will never buy another Jag again.
1. The ZF is NOT a slow transmission 2. This is not an OLD mans jag 3. F-Type is not crazy heavy compared to maserati granturismo + aston martin 4. Boxster is a horrible comparison to an f-type as it punches between classes
I owned 2 jaguars well before my midlife crisis and the last one was an electrical nightmare. It actually quit on me while I was on the German Autobahn doing 200 km/h. I know that many car owners across brands, makes and models have similar experiences, but this one is mine. And I can surely say Jaguar isn't allowed on my driveway anymore :)
I have the 718 Boxster S and my brother has the F-Type. Both are beautiful and great in different ways. To me, having had a 911 and an AM V8 Vantage, I'd never considered the Boxster as anything other than a cheaper Porsche. But the 718 has a character all of it's own and the performance is right up there with the 911s now. It is the most fun car I've ever had and fastest although doesn't have the prestige of the Aston. i actually think it's also the best looking car I've had - mine is crayon which is stunning. I like the F-type and was tempted but too similar to the Aston without being an Aston. I do miss the engine noise (from a V8, not the 911 6cyl which isnt anything great) but on the overall package, looks, performance, fun etc - the 718s is the best car I've had. I do tell my brother that his car looks good as i view it in the distance behind me :-)
The Jag wins everywhere that matters to a normal owner driving in a normal way ! It is stunningly beautiful , even better in the flesh . The Porsche is so boring to look at , and as common as muck !
Sorry, Jaguar engine is simply in the wrong spot (same for the 911) the correct engine placement is....the middle. The end, I win the argument. Both Newton and Einstein agree with me.
Jag wins in appearance inside and out. And that sound... the best sounding V6 and V8. Just amazing.

And 67K Euros are +100K Australian dollars, so it is only 5000 dollars more expensive, which is not terrible, given you have to ship it down there, do the local market customisations, paperwork bla-bla...
In Australia there is 13% -51% tax on cars . Porsche boxster s is taxed $55000 here when you add orc tax
Australia has 33% luxury car tax
For practicality and instant fun with precision and COMFORT. Porsche in general
For a loud fun drive thats an attention grabber.
The Jag looks so much better as coupe. No idea why I see it as convertible everywhere.
Gotta go w the Jag because of the sound.
I have a v6s and I am sure it has a 8 speed zf not a 7 speed and people will let you out a junction in the Jaguar they won't in the porsche.
So the Porsche is a little better at the track....ok. When is the last time you raced on a track?
Jaguar is far more sexy and fun. Get the coupe though vs convertible
I am trading my f type v8 for cayman s. Jag is beautiful car but the reliability is shit. It has spent more time in the shop than on the road and the repair cost is ridiculous. Save yourself a hassle and get a Porsche. Will never buy another Jag again.
1. The ZF is NOT a slow transmission
2. This is not an OLD mans jag
3. F-Type is not crazy heavy compared to maserati granturismo + aston martin
4. Boxster is a horrible comparison to an f-type as it punches between classes
they're talking Australian with stats, I have no idea what those things mean.
Ah those 'Australian stats' would be the SI units, my good sir. Also known as International system of units.
The boxster is the best looking Porsche out there, but no match for that gorgeous jaguar
Porsche only :)
Add AWD to the Jag and suddenly the difference in performance is nil.
I like this channel but hate how everything is in KW
It is stunningly
beautiful , even better in the flesh . The Porsche is so boring to look at , and as common as muck !
Definitely pick the jaguar
8 speed not 7
Sorry, Jaguar engine is simply in the wrong spot (same for the 911) the correct engine placement is....the middle. The end, I win the argument. Both Newton and Einstein agree with me.
