Thank you!! This solved my problem. I think when I was connecting the SIM800L V2 directly to Arduino, it was unable to get the 2A current it needs. Now I am using a 9V battery with a DC DC Buck converter (LM2596) and adjusted its output voltage to 5V. Also, another thing which I had to change was I had to change the SIM I was using from JIO to Airtel (I am from India). Apparently, JIO is not supported by the SIM800L V2 as it works on networks which support 2G fallback.
I tried powering up the module with 5v from buck booster. I am using 9v 2A rated adapter power source..my module's ring led is on for 10 secs while the net led blinks every 1 sec. Then both the LEDs go off for 2 sec..this process repeats..kindly help me to trouble shoot. please
@@rakshitabaadkar8355 Hi Rakshita, I had faced this issue as well. The sim800l v2 actually needs a lot of current while trying to get or send a signal. If it does not get that, it resets and starts the process again. Can you please use a multimeter and check the current being passed in the circuit?
Hello, i have a question, can i use a step up module instead of a step down? I intend to use the arduino for powering up the sim800l v2 since external power supplies can be quite pricey here in our place. If not, can you let me know what module you used to connect the charger to the breadboard(the black charger port thingy)? I already have LM2596, and i'm just torn what to buy, the step up or the charger port.

@@teguhgumilar6868 ok, I believe it is better to get a better module, to be honest. I spent a week trying it, but it did not work well. There were power and other issues. Can I use two 3.7V 18650 rechargeable batteries as external power supply?
if you see the specification, it has to use 5V not 3.7V. So I guess can not be used
@teguhgumilar6868 I will use a LM2596 DC-DC !

Hi as long as it can supply enough current to the module it should not be a problem, check its output specification
replace capacitor with elco 2200uF 16V

For esp32 instead of Arduino, is this still the only solution since the module currently could not find any network or recognised anything around?
maybe use better GSM module or use ESP32 with GSM module built in such as TTGO T-Call ESP32.

you can use 4G SIM if your network provider supports 2G Network
