  • In this video, I am testing two sim800l modules with 5v power supply. If you have issue like "Sim800l not connecting to the network" or "Sim800l Powering Issue" then this video will be helpful to you. Sim800l gsm module sometime works very strange "sim800l blinks 7 times" this is because power problem.
    I made 5 test for two different sim800l modules with different configurations of a capacitor (16v 470uf). And I am able to run both sim800l modules perfectly.
    I know you have the question that, is it safer to give 5v dc directly from Arduino or laptop USB port to the module. Let's see, I will connect 5v directly to sim800l gsm module

  • @824pavel

    To safely power the sim800 module with 5V, put a diode in series on 5V line, just before the capacitor. The cap can be 860-1000mF.

    in my case, i have used step down buck convertor and i had set it to 4v, it still facing the power issues(7 times blink and reset), then i have the increased the voltage to 4.35v still i had faced the power issue. but totally, i removed the step convertor and connected directly to 5v by using this capacitor trick. finally it worked!!!

    By God's grace mine worked, the set-up I had though was using two 18650 batteries in series-so total voltage was around 7.4V, and used a buck converter stepping down the voltage to around 4V and connecting the output of the buck converter, directly towards the SIM800L Mini GSM module, I made sure that the wires I used was as short as I can enable and used AWG24 wires, I did not use any capacitors, and everything worked fined, I even used 5G capable SIM card and it worked well with no problems; hopefully those working on this had theirs working, God Bless

    • @AhmadLogs
      @AhmadLogs  3 роки тому +3

      you are right must use best quality wires also power supply must as close to the sim800l as possible.
      you can directly attach single 18650 without buck convertor. just try it. I have use single 18650 battery in my most of projects without using buck converter

      sim800l v2 can be connected directly to the 5v pin

  • @samrev292

    Does it has a side effect for a long time use? Like damaging the sim modul as the example

    • @AhmadLogs
      @AhmadLogs  Рік тому +2

      using a capacitor in parallel with the power supply of the SIM800L module can have some benefits, such as reducing the noise and ripple in the power supply, which can improve the performance of the module. However, it is important to choose the right value of capacitor and to properly install it to avoid any negative effects on the module.
      In general, using a capacitor in parallel with the power supply should not damage the SIM800L module, as long as the capacitor is correctly selected and installed. However, if the capacitor is too large, it may cause excessive inrush current when the module is first powered on, which can potentially damage the module. Similarly, if the capacitor is not installed properly, it could create a short circuit or other electrical problems that could damage the module.

      you need 3.7v and at least 2000mAh battery for powering sim800l. if your gsm blink non stop, then its mean that
      1. there is some issue with your sim card that you have inserted in the module.
      2. there is some issue with your gsm module antenna.
      3. or your gsm module might be damaged. just try another sim800l
