Manda's Invisible People interview: Living under a bridge doesn't stop this homeless woman from staying positive • Living under a Bridge ...
In the video description of the vlog where Manda gives us a tour of her homeless camp in Seattle [ • Living under a Bridge ... ], I wrote that when Manda and I first met online that I never imagined I'd be having coffee with her under that bridge.
Fast forward a few weeks, and now I am in awe that I had the honor of taking Manda furniture shopping for her new apartment. We also went out and gave socks to new homeless friends.
One of the reasons I love Hanes is they genuinely want to help people. Each homeless person that participated in this years campaign, Hanesbrands Inc. offered additional support above the compensation they received for working with the campaign.
David received first months rent and security deposit for his new apartment and additional funds for furniture when he moved out of a homeless shelter. Hanes paid for Mary's college tuition and bought her a laptop.
While she was still under the bridge, Hanes paid for Amanda's phone service for a year. It's a miracle that Manda got housing. Manda did all the hard work, and she gets all the credit for getting out of homelessness, but the one tool that helped her the most was the smartphone and mobile services that gave her the ability to contact social services and health services.
It's truly amazing that Manda is now in housing, but there are tens of thousands of homeless people that still need help. I hope that you'll be encouraged by this video and get a few smiles, but please know getting someone up off the streets is never easy!
DISCLOSURE: Hanesbrands Inc. compensated me for my time traveling to Seattle to take a formerly homeless woman shopping. This video is independent of that agreement, and Hanes did not compensate Invisible People or me for this video.

About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they’re on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as UA-cam, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can’t ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation’s most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath - its founder - and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America’s homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.

Had been homeless for almost 10 years. Never had any belongings of high value. Never had a place to rest and sleep without disturbing someone. Finally I made it to my life. I Became a health professional with a Msc degree. I live in my house for 4 years now eating breakfast every morning, watching tv etc. I can't describe the feeling...
you are a hero. respects from Turkey
I'm so Happy for you..😊.. God Bless
good to hear that
How beautiful is that?
Well done 👍
That's incredible. You never had a big criminal record as a barrier to a health career?
I wish this kind of change happens to every single homeless out there.
Meeee. Toooo
Not just this woman should have a hand up Mark needs to help every person he interviews
@sindy belizaire Zooning laws are a thing. They should be ended. Allow little homes to be build for the people that has the least.
A lot of people choose to be homeless. I've met and spoke to many homeless people in San Diego. They say the enjoy the freedom and wouldn't want to live in a apartment or house. Besides that, San Diego is a pretty nice to live.
Rudolph hess it’s so true we really need to fix the mental health care system :(
She made sure she was okay. Had to flee from domestic violence and she got through it despite being homeless. What a great story
I saw alot of pain in her eyes
Thank God she made it.
Wow. She is such a strong person. I curse the man who harmed her. She is so intelligent and kind.
I did not know that was the reason that she was homeless due to domestic violence 😟
Many women and children had to flee suddenly, and wound up homeless, losing everything. It's great that Manda is finally off the street and in an apartment she can afford !!
I’m so happy to see Manda in a home to call her own. Couldn’t have happened to a better person! Congratulations Manda!!
She is absolutely amazing. What a woman!!
Could not happen to a better person. Great news in troubled times.👍
Congratulations I knew she was a fighter. 💟💟 good onya manda 😘
I've been homeless with my daughter. It doesn't hit you until you finally get a place and furnish it. Also, when I go back to some of the places we washed up at, I always cry but it is getting easier. We say a degree is nothing but a piece of paper but it landed me a good job, chosen from over 50 applicants. I thank the Lord everyday that He had angels protecting us. Stay strong out there.
💕🙏💫
God bless you. It breaks my heart to think of any woman homeless. Especially with your daughter. I'm glad you made it out.
God is good even in the valley. God bless you and your family.
God bless you all who have gotten a second chance. My prayers are with all homeless always. It can happen to anyone. Don't have to be lazy, on drugs or such, and mentally challenged. Everyone needs help sometimes.
Congratulations continued success and blessings
I was so happy to watch this. I was homeless for 5 yrs with my doggie Ginger. Someone gave her to me in tent city when she was just a little puppy(5/6 weeks). I changed our lives because i didnt love me but i sure loved her and she deserved better. We have been off the streets for 4 + yrs now. To this very day, i wake up and i make a gratitude list..most days it is 3 or 4 pages long. Many dont understand, to even have running water, flushing toilet, hot water, electricity is so overwhelming that many days i write my list with tears of gratitude running down my face.
I am so happy to see mandy having what she deserves!! I wish this for all homeless🙏🙏🙏

What an amazing woman and what a spirit! This was emotional to watch, imagine how she felt that day, I can't even... And while she's making a new start for her own life she's so determined to give back. But the one thing that got to me the most was seeing her empty apartment before, no furniture no bed for herself and only a few clothes hanging in a closet, but her dog ran proudly to her own place, her bed and her toys waiting for her in a cozy corner, so happy and proud... oh the love 😭💖
I am so happy for her that I can't stop crying. She deserves it.
She is such an excellent communicator. Any company, non-profit, or entrepreneur would be lucky to work with her. She’s really smart.
I had the same thought when I saw her former video. I can imagine her as a team leader or ops manager at any multinational company.
She's cute too ☺
Glad to see she's doing well 😊
She is so social ❤️
Manda - is extraordinary ❤️
@Tessie I'm tired of big cooperations getting tax breaks and multi million/billion dollar government bail outs because they went bankrupt once again
I saw her first video and although she stayed positive I saw her pain. I'm so happy for her. This warms my heart.
It broke my heart and made me think of all I'm grateful for.

Every human deserves a place to call home and feel secure. Only people who have never suffered in that way would say such careless things. Privilege creates ignorance.
Amanda, god 🙏 bless you. 😂❤️🙏
I’m so glad she is not homeless anymore. God bless her everyday of her life. And her dog too.
100% agree
So happy for her. Everyone deserves a place to call home, an apartment, studio, a house. But a roof over our heads, a place to call our own. I currently live with my ex boyfriend but searching for my own place. It comes with major responsibilities but honestly I can’t wait. Never had my own place ever, I definitely want and need my own piece of heaven because that is what it means to me. Best of luck to them and to everyone here. Btw I think the interviewer likes her a a lot. ❤️
I was crying and praying for her in the 1st video and was so happy for her when I saw this follow up. She does seem like the same person. God bless the person or people that are helping her.

Being a former homeless(5yrs on street), I never cared for Hanes products, but now that I see what they did here(regardless of a publicity stunt or whatever their reasons) ,I will support their company and let others know about this video. This CSR thing that she spoke about was something I never knew. I will use that to help my animal rescue and vlog everything about. Also, I'm planning on making a "wall of Fame" and a "wall of shame" for companies that support CSR and don't support CSR. Thanks for the info, Inspiring video, and please give kisses to doggie every morning, noon, and nite. Remember that he was rite beside u thru all the trials and tribulations. He's a hero also. This man who came to her is so underrated he’s one of her angels!
Housing is a basic right
i agree but he is uncomfortably close to her, breathing heavy, and basically screaming in her ear lmao
kai !! :'v thank goodness someone commented about that because I thought I was the only one who noticed 😂
Lol he's a pervy perv perv
She's doing sooo well under the circumstances. She's doing what she needs to do, while dealing with his whining negativity and creepy space invading. He needs to reign it in. I think he's probably doing great stuff for homeless people, but he's being a horrible burden to this woman on her triumphant day.
And she's doing what do many women do, stuffing her own discomfort when he's whining about wanting to be acknowledged as being a victim. Ew. I hope he doesn't try to continue invade her space after this.
This should be such a great day and he makes it so uncomfortable. He could use some basic training on working with women.
Why's everyone calling this guy a creep? he's doing a good thing and being happy about it and you all see it as is someone trying to creep on someone else! Whilst he is out there helping people you all are spouting crap all over the place.
Dumb asses are quick to call any guy a creep. It's ridiculous.
Jack Winstone they just think he’s tryna fuck her or some weird shit
Jack Winstone I don’t think he’s a creep, seems happy for her.
They are relatively the same age, both have had the homeless experience, likely connect on a deeper level so even if they hit it off in a romantic sense, what’s wrong with that? Not like she’s 17 or something.
You see there's the difference there are guys out there in the "Trenches" and those who are hiding in the shadows giving pot shots.
There's a war out there and there are very few "Men" who'll get up and do something about it.
You sort of got to get an oar and start rowing with the others in the boat !!!!!
Praise God she has a place to call home. She can rebuild her life. God bless her and all who helped her.
When she found the coffee cup that said “home” I felt that, and teared up ❤️ such a perfect find.

I saw her first video yesterday where she was under the bridge crying . Even with all she’s been through, she still held her head high. You could look deep down in her soul with all the positivity she had. Instantly I wanted to help her out. Then I noticed it was three years ago. So I prayed for her. Today I get on and I see her getting stuff for her new apartment. I check it out and again it was three years ago. I’m so happy for her it looks like she’s been off the street for three years. May God continue to bless her.

Well, at least a dog is her companion and soulmate with whom she can share ups and downs in her current life. 'Cos you know, mental life is just as important as physical life. Of course, she may find herself in need of a partner in the foreseeable future. Who knows!

She was sober under that bridge. The homeless people we see that ARENT sober, were once bright and full of life. And once they crumble and deteriorate, people want to see them less, deal with them less, and it just gets worse for them.
The most hurtful thought to me, is that every single person was at one time a child with a smile and so much potential, and whether through their own fault or no fault of their own, they fell apart and ended up amongst trash.
Its really sad. I wish I could win some mega billions lottery and just get all of these people help, physically and mentally. Money alone won't help them.
God Bless Her!!
Chris Capers What you just wrote is so true! The sad thing is many more people are going through this because of the pandemic. Middle class families with low incomes have lost their jobs and are being evicted and made homeless.. its heartbreaking 💔
Great comment 💕 I feel the same
That is exactly how I feel.
There is more than enough money in this world for every human being to live some where decent.
Greed and selfishness is a massive problem.
Many people would rather die and leave their Millions, Billions, Trillions, in the bank, where not even their families or friends need it.
It is disgusting how this world is so imbalanced.

I'm so incredibly happy for you Manda!!
Her soul is so cute. I wish the world could have more people like her.
How cool to see this lady progress!
She deserves everything. She's a giver not a taker: ) So lovely to see something so positive.
God Bless Manda! I was homeless in Florida and lived in a tent. It was the hardest part of my life and by the grace of God I was able to pull out of it. Thank God you are back on your feet!!
Two Brothers Outdoors Amen! God bless!!
It's wonderful to see her getting a chance for a new start at life.
Also that she hasn't forgotten how to enjoy the moment and be happy.
this makes me so emotional i am currently homeless & this gives me hope that i haven’t had in a long time
update: i am now living in transit cargo van! i’m turning it into a camper #vanlife :3
I really do pray that you too will find a forever home soon.
God bless u
Praying for you. Don't ever lose hope.
Don't pray. Help.
Lord Bang-a-Lot - jerk.
I'm so happy to see her doing better. The world will never learn to prioritize the dignity of human life.
Best video I've ever seen. It gave me joy to see Manda being blessed back into life. Thank you to all who sponsored her fresh start. Truly amazing and beautiful. Good luck Manda. You are loved!
Woww I was really upset to see a sober person, intelligent, articulate like her been homeless. Her desperation came thru,as well as her positiveness. You could see that even in a tent she was trying really hard not to lose her dignity. A well thought lesson for everyone. I'm so so pleased for her and thanks everyone who helped her dream come thru.
Goffredo Trovato not all homeless have an addiction
So you made judgements are preconceived ideas about what a homeless person is like ?and now you see that theres more then what movies and governments say .....
@@jemmastone11 hi Jemma,no preconceived judgments ,I've been homeless twice in my life the longest was 8 months,so I can say I know a little bit about it. What I meant was that she managed to keep it together better than others. Yes she was broken down you could see bu she didn't gave it up, it takes a tough cooky to stay in a tent,in a big city and not giving up.That is what I meant. Anyone can become homeless but unfortunately, the majority of us in less than a year sleeping rough, will change for the worse;you like it or not,is the street itself that changes you for the worse. That is why I believe we tend to stereotype, because in the beginning it easier to keep it together, so we only realise people having difficulties when they start to look that they live on the street, that is why the stereotype I guess. I wasn't judgmental . For sure these videos are an eye opener for everyones. Best of luck
NO ONE should be homeless, no matter their past
I went to bed last night so heartbroken to see such a lovely person going thru such hardship. Next morning - this video!! Delighted for her - she’s looking fab
☀️🙌🤸♂️🙌☀️
Funnily enough... ditto, same sentiments! a year later!
Exactly the same thing happened to me! I was in such need of a video like this. This gives me so much home ❤️✨
Manda is adorable, seeing her smiling and laughing is priceless ! Thank you for all you do InvisiblePeople
I know its been a few years since this video but I just saw the one of Amanda the other day living homeless and trying to keep a positive attitude.
It completely broke my heart and I could feel her agony having been homeless a couple times in my life.
To see this video I was so excited for her. There is a huge need for shelter for homeless women.
Having been a director of a woman's house a few years back opened my eyes to the very real problem and woman's needs.
I thank God to see this video and pray Amanda is still doing well.
God bless
Manda is truly one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever seen. Her heart shines through her eyes and her smile like a precious gem. I've never said something like this about anyone , much less a stranger lol. But her kindness and goodness is almost palpable. I am looking forward to following her journey. Her dog is pretty awesome too.
Amanda, if you see this I just want to thank you for letting your light shine for all to see. You are doing more good in this world than you can even imagine. God bless
THANKS! HANES. This says alot about your company. 👍
I love Hanes and I buy hoodies and panties exclusively from them because they're so soft and come in many colors. It makes me feel good that they help people!
Goodness, she is pure joy -- like the bright and beautiful sun. She is utterly endearing and absolutely priceless. A true human angel. So happy for her happiness. ❤
Just want to give Manda a big hug! So happy . After the last video under the bridge my eyes have been opened. We all can help reduce this if we do it together!
I love her personality, the way she speak and express her shelf to all people.

Awwww he has a Crush on Manda...😊 I don't blame you she is a catch. A true sweetheart
How did she get this apartment
I love her spirit and because she has been homeless she really appreciates her new digs. ❤️
Mark, you are a WONDERFUL person, thank you for your hard work and compassion for others!! You make a real difference.
Her guard seems up because it's hard to accept such a gift when you've been down and out for so long. Afraid it's too good to b true. I pray for her and everyone in dire need and sooo happy Ronan has a warm home to retreat too. God bless her baby Ronan.
