You’re providing a valuable social service Tom by inspiring and helping some of us get our cars back on the road😎…my Hardtop has been off the road for 15 years…geez has it been that long lol 😝…but getting a little closer every day 😉…great vid and love your work as always…thanks for taking the time to make these vids…cheers 🍻
Funny we all could have bought one back in the day for about 20 k but I’m sure I would not still own it So happy for him to have been able to do that 👍👍
good story, Can relate just got a red pepper one back on the road. was put away after the all ford day 2001. just got rego again might need to drop in give you a look.
Love both Holden and Ford but I would lean towards Holden Muscle. Saying that the XB coupe is one of the toughest and iconic Aussie Muscle cars. Lucky owner to be able to restore one. Nice work you do and envious of your workshop.....
After I pick up my new Everest Sport in Lightning Blue ( temporary Nissan Owner ) I am going to get myself some merch...... Old mate must beside himself knowing the car he probably bought for under 20k is now worth over 150k......good on him. Had an XA 351 that caught fire......knowing what I know now, that is the only thing I would change if I could go back in time.....
Love the coup XB shape . Better then say a mustang fast back for mind. I did look under one XB coup not so long ago and I couldn’t believe how Weak the rocker areas looked ‘sills’ under the doors. Only C-canceled not boxed and not much steel . Do they have a lot of chassis flex ? My uncle had all the best muscle cars and said the mustang boss fast back that is the model that looks a bit like the XB was the best handling muscle car he owned.
Thanks for watching Laurie, the coupes have a similar design innier and outer sill design to 71-73 the mach 1 mustangs , although It wouldn't surprise me if they had more flex. I had a big block in one once and the torque did twist the body a fair bit. Id advise anyone to stiffen the body shells up for big horse power for that reason. They certainly are a beautiful body shape when setup right though 👍
Great video mate!! I’m currently building a 4dr XB, I didn’t do the disassembly so struggling to work out where things go. Can you tell me where the bonnet release cable should feed through the firewall please? Can’t find anything online to show this.
Thanks mate, in the engine bay there is a hole right over near the drivers side inner apron, just under the join for the firewall and plenum , the cable goes through that , but using a rubber gromet over the cable to seal. its kind of hidden away once the brake booster is in., good luck with it.
@@phatridesgarage3760 Thanks very much mate. Yes I did a thorough search of a few other XB resto’s on you UA-cam and have since seen that cable hole. Seems you thread it behind the bonnet hinge also to keep it out of the way. Makes sense now 👍
That was the owners choice not mine. But it is quite common to do it that way, the clear coats apparently have more UV protection and a solid colour alone. I don’t think the factory did it that way though in 1970s but I may be wrong
G'day from West Australia, 😉

How does your half booth go? Thinking of building something similar
Hey Tim it goes surprisingly well actually
if its not a metalic colur why use clear over base and not just a solid colour?
That was the owners choice not mine. But it is quite common to do it that way, the clear coats apparently have more UV protection and a solid colour alone. I don’t think the factory did it that way though in 1970s but I may be wrong
I owned a yellow blaze xb sedan
Great color isnt it, really bright
So when are you going to build a booth
Yep! better get onto that, my extraction works surprisingly well, but i need to enclose i for sure
@@phatridesgarage3760 you have a few cars to paint soon be a great project

you guys starting up a panel shop now
No thats not the plan Paul )
The guy bought it and never sold it.... me thinking about that mini and my Gemini coupes, postie bikes, grandpas 253 HQ premier... 😬
yeah its not common hey, guy buys the car when he is 18 and never lets it go. How many of use miss that special car we once had
