G'day man, I do most of my painting at home on the cars that I have. I can tell you no matter how many people you talk to and how many videos you watch it's still a frustrating game. If you're not careful you can certainly go down the painters rabbit hole and it can get expensive. So thanks for sharing ✌️ Peace from Melbourne 3810.
I find the metallics to be challenging, its so easy to stuff it up and get a defect. I fell down the rabbit hole with my fg falcon bonnet, took me 3 times to get it right haha
nice work! Best 2cents with change advise I could give is don't skip grades when flatting the paint...800 to 2000 is a big jump and it's possible it won't take out all the more aggressive sanding marks the lowr grade creates.. but hey if what you're doin' is working for you it's the outcome and you are happy, thats what matters... all the stuff costs dollars. As for flowcoating...it comes down to time and material cost..(and if someone else is paying.. labour$$), amount of material already on the job and the desired finish. (All?) great finishes will need flatting and polishing regardless of how great it comes off the gun and you can only try to minimise dirt...in your environment it's inevitable and you're doing really well to get as good as you do. Must have been heartbreaking to see the car burnt out like that. Amazing to recover.
Thanks mate 😊 I was hoping to use 2000grit and then mathine polish but the orange peel took to long cut back. Definitely has the glass style finish i was after using 800 certainly created me some work lol. I wont flow coat again if i can avoid it too. The doors look as good as the rear quarters without flow coating 😎
As a professional spraypainter, flow coating is a old wives tale propagated by car magazines. Flow coating is basically a second go at getting it right. Just put down a good coat to begin with or put a few extra coats down on you initial paint work and then cut and buff. 2000 grit by hand over a good paint job usually comes out like glass when buffed. Not saying your not doing a good job though, well done.
Your doing a top job Jase ,poor old escort

Hi mate just some advice put the compressor out side it will creat dust in you paint 👍
great to see it coming along so well man.
More to come!
Heartbreaking mate the fire but you cant be replaced the car can
Thats it ay
Unfortunatley if the problem is deep in the clear no amount of surface buffing will fix it. Sometime lots of sanding will just make it worse.
Change your Cutting compound try different compounds
Why?
