Hi. Great videos, and lovely result. Have to admit I thought there would be a lack of interest in the composition you chose here but I stand corrected. The free feeling using cardboard is an elusive beast. And I'd argue that the value is in the work regardless of the support. I'd love to see it preserved with maybe a lacquer and set into a little box frame.
Thank you Stuart. I often look for interesting shapes in the corners of fields. I really liked the areas of brighter coloured sky poking through the trees. I will see how long it lasts in it's original state and maybe do a little follow up video next year. All the best
Hi Andrew.... I hope you, your family, Basil, are very well!!!! In this week I must to make a lot of things.. My God... I m alone.. After, when all is quiet, I watch this tuto... Have a good evening🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️👋
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt It will be interesting, indeed! BTW, my neighbor and good friend here in the middle of the US just left to go visit his mother in Cornwall. It's a small world!
Yes that's true! The car wasn't far so the weight didn't come into it this time. I find that usually when I'm on the coast the French easel withstands the winds better than most other easels I've tried. I will look up Leder easel
I think it is a terrible idea to paint on something that is disposable! This is a beautiful painting. A long time ago I decided to always use good materials in case it turn out to be a good one. I love this painting. It is a great example refined spontaneity!
I agree with you Judith although sometimes the fact that it is disposable frees you up to just paint and have fun. The colours will fade but it's sitting on our mantle piece at home and we are enjoying the view
I buy the inexpensive canvas on board (cardboard) for this type of painting so I can throw it out if needs be! You did an incredible job on that painting. A simple scene becomes a thing of beauty.
@@judithslawter372 thank you - I am quite interested to see how long it lasts. So it has become an interesting experiment. Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it
Hi Paul - thanks for watching and the feedback. The glass palette is a sheet of safety glass I had made to measure. I then taped some cardboard to the back. All the best - Andrew
All you have to do is transfer the pictorial layer and the 1st layer of cardboard onto a more durable support. Because the work as it is is not disposable ! And this is standard restoration technique. And the next time take at least one sheet of paper for oil painting, for example Canson Figueras or equivalent.
Thank you for your comments. I hadn't thought about the possibility of restoration. It started out as a practice painting but I (my wife and daughter also) really like it. I must try the Canson Figueras. I love painting on Fabriano drawing paper but I do prepare that for oil painting
I m sorry for your daughter.... A kiss to her🥰, now I m very well, BUT a few days ago, I had a bad time with a boar🐗!!!! At Rome, there are a lot!!!! I was parking my smart car, I feel out of fear and hid my head🥴now.. I m very well!!!! Hi🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
captured the setting perfectly, you have an artists "eye"! And on cardboard...I agree this needs to be preserved.
Thank you Carole. It still looks ok at the moment, not faded yet
Hello Andrew.
Great to see you again and your beautiful work.☘️
Thank you Rosemary 😃
Lovely work again Andrew
Thank you Keith - can't beat a lovely mild Autumn morning
Like your painting style. Found your channel the other day and enjoy watching . To bad it is on cardboard. It is a lovely pianting.
Thank you Louise. The colours are still pretty good on the cardboard although I doubt this will be the case in a year or two
Hi Quite Nice, thanks for sharing. A very good picture.
Thanks for visiting Geoff and thanks for watching

Thanks for this tip. You transformed a card board in an art piece, that's awesome.
You are welcome and thank you 😊
Amazing !!!!
Thank you so much ☺️
really good tip for people who want to loosen up.. I tried this with pastels a while back and it works a treat..
Thanks. Yes it definitely helps 👍🏻

Hi Veronica - how are you? Hope all is well in Rome. We are all good thank you (my daughter had Covid but is ok thankfully!)
Great work realy
Thanks a lot 😊 much appreciated
Really beautiful! I will consider using cardboard. Thank you.
Thank you Sharon. Definitely worth using cardboard for practice. Have fun
Simply lovely work! Like Stuart, I was a bit skeptical as I stumbled upon your channel. Oh, I do hope you preserve this little gem of a painting!
Thank you Barbara. I’m interested to see what it looks like in a year’s time

It is a small world 🌎 indeed. Hope he enjoys his stay
Hi Andrew! When can we catch you on the Landscape Painter of the Year? I have never seen it so I don’t know when it comes out. :)
It was on Sky Arts 31 January 2024. It should make it's way on to UA-cam at some point
At least card board is weight saving. I suggest trying Leder easel for weight reduction

Your glass palette is it glass laid onto the wood palette supplied with your French easel.? Enjoying watching your videos.

The colours in this one are beautiful, well done :)
Ps: Cracking idea to use abit of cardboard Andrew ( this will not amuse the cat though)
Thank you very much Sammi

Oh wow! Boar in Rome! Glad you're ok and thank you for asking about my daughter. She is ok but it has left her with headaches. Take care
